Astrology Quotes: Capricorn In Their Own Words

Capricorn is known for being in control, their seriousness and taking responsibility, and persevering in difficult circumstances. The sign matures well, though and things ease the 2nd half of life as Capricorn comes into their own, generally proving themselves to be formidable people with integrity…no longer discounted.

Cuba Gooding, Jr.

Astrology Quotes: Capricorn In Their Own Words — 29 Comments

  1. Wow. I’ve said those exact same words as Kate Moss said I don’t know how many times. “I take full responsibility.” Scary how accurate that is. And that easy is the kiss of death. I always do like taking the hard way… even if it hurts things in the short run.

  2. My friend gave me a few Capricorn quotes of the same ilk: “I don’t like thinking I’m in someway responsible.” “I’m not letting your irresponsiblities prevent ME from doing mine in the morning.” and also “It’s a waste of my time.”
Here’s a good Aries quote I found. A lady from the Civil War writes, “Come what would, I wanted them to fight and stop talking.” Mary Chesnut, she has lots of good Aries quotes as I find them. One was about a man who talked of his wife as “the Confederate woman that bathes my head at night” and she says, “I would have liked to punch his head” or something like that. She’s sassy, she’s got a ton of Aries quotes. Her passionate nature definitely came alive during the Civil War. Her husband was a Capricorn and a moderate. He was born on the same day as my dad and he was very reserved and cool-headed. I’ll keep my eye on anything from him. You should check out both her private and public diary, she talks a lot of shit in her private diary about important people.

  3. Don’t ask me why I found Aries quotes today, but here are some from Russell Crowe. The third one is the best, I think.

I’m an intense bastard when I’m doing my job. I don’t suffer fools and I don’t wanna f**k around. I want you to be ready and prepared. Let’s go, man. If you come to that set and you don’t know your lines, what the f**k have you been doing? You don’t deserve the job.
    Russell Crowe

People accuse me of being arrogant all the time. I’m not arrogant, I’m focused.
    Russell Crowe

I am destined to be attracted to those I cannot defeat.
    Russell Crowe

  4. “I’m a workaholic, and when I’m not working, I’m hiding in my basement.”
    Howard Stern

“I’m not a paranoid derranged millionaire. Goddamit, I’m a billionaire.”
    Howard Hughes

“Darling, the legs aren’t so beautiful, I just know what to do with them.” and “I am at heart a gentleman.”
    Marlene Dietrich

  5. Jim Carrey, Capricorn extraordinaire:

“If I had never ventured beyond being a stand-up comic, then I would be sitting in my house today working on my Leonardo DiCaprio impression.”

“One thing I hope I’ll never be is drunk with my own power. And anybody who says I am will never work in this town again.”

“My focus is to forget the pain of life. Forget the pain, mock the pain, reduce it. And laugh.”

“I practiced making faces in the mirror and it would drive my mother crazy. She used to scare me by saying that I was going to see the devil if I kept looking in the mirror. That fascinated me even more, of course.”

“Life opens up opportunities to you, and you either take them or you stay afraid of taking them.”

(all the above said by Jim Carrey)

  6. I love Jim Carrey…

    Here’s some more Capricorn quotes:

“One is only poor/only if they choose to be…” – Dolly Parton

“So do I.” Cary Grant, on being told so many men wish they were him

“Follow me, where I go…” – John Denver

“I make my own rules” – LLCoolJ

“Yes, she’s here, and she’s *staying* here!” (My grandma, to a social worker looking for my sister)

  7. Patti Smith: (December 30, 1946)

    In my Blakean year
    I was so disposed
    Toward a mission yet unclear
    Advancing pole by pole
    Fortune breathed into my ear
    Mouthed a simple ode
One road is paved in gold
One road is just a road

Simone de Beauvoir: (January 9, 1908)

“The potency of images comes from the fact that they provide the illusion of reality, an illusion that I accept in a state of near-passivity. Even at these moments of my life when I am freest, most disengaged, there are plans and memories deep in my mind, and actions are taking place.”

  8. Janis Joplin:
Try, try, try just a little bit harder
So I can love, love, love him, I tell myself
Well, I’m gonna try yeah, just a little bit harder
So I won’t lose, lose, lose him to nobody else.
Hey! Well, I don’t care how long it’s gonna take you now,
    But if it’s a dream I don’t want
No I don’t really want it
If it’s a dream I don’t want nobody to wake me.

Poor janis, she wore her heart on her sleeve. From one Cap to another, bless her heart. I actually had the privilege of seeing her back in the day..

  9. Capricorn
    Dec 23 – Jan 22
You are conservative and afraid of taking risks. You are basically
chickenshit. There has never been a Capricorn of any importance. You should kill yourself.

    CAPRICORN (22 Dec-19 Jan)
You don’t do much of anything and are lazy. There has never been a Capricorn of any importance. Capricorns should avoid standing still too long as a dog might think you are a tree and piss on you.

who, Ben Franklin, ML King, Richard Nixon?

  10. Okay, I am adding song lyrics written by my nephew Dan, a very cool Capricorn, who I am quite certain will be famous one day, because he never, ever (and I mean never) gives up.

The song is called Savior, and is about the hypocrisy of many organized religions:

    “I need nobody’s forgiveness
    How about you?
You keep your business your business
    And I will too

    No, I’m not alone
    I follow a lonely Savior
    No, I’m not alone
    I’ll govern my own behavior

    It’s so funny
You keep the faith and they keep the money
    It’s so divine
You see a cross they see a dollar sign”

    Thanks for letting me share!

  11. “People come into your life and people leave it… you just have to trust that life has a road mapped out for you.”
    – Orlando Bloom ( Sun/Mercury/Mars in Capricorn )

“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”
    – J. R. R. Tolkien ( Sun/Mercury in Capricorn )

“I much prefer the sharpest criticism of a single intelligent man to the thoughtless approval of the masses.”
    – Johannes Kepler, ( Sun, Uranus, Venus, Mercury in Capricorn )

“In criticism I will be bold, and as sternly, absolutely just with friend and foe. From this purpose nothing shall turn me.”
    – Edgar Allen Poe ( Sun/Mercury in Capricorn )

and one of my favorite capricorn authors ( there are many of them )

“Back of every creation, supporting it like an arch, is faith. Enthusiasm is nothing: it comes and goes. But if one believes, then miracles occur. ”
( i think this quote encapsulates the sea-goat nature of the capricorn glyph. a creature that is half water and half land.. climbing the mountain but not without much wisdom and spirituality gained )
    – Henry Miller ( Sun, Mercury, Venus in Capricorn )

hehe i got a bit carried away with this. happy birthday to all capricorn suns though.. as for myself, i’ve got capricorn on the ascendant.. 28 degrees

  12. I have two female caps closely tied to my life and both of them were born “bent out of shape” and remain so to this day (Dec.26 and 27) Not only that but they both still gripe yearly that they get “shortchanged” at Christmas. One is 24 manana the other 49. What say ye wise one.

  13. OK He wasn’t a Cap, but had Mars/Asc in Cap, and all of his quotes sound very goat-like to me

Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
(This one is my email signature!)

Results! Why, man, I have gotten a lot of results. I know several thousand things that won’t work.

If I find 10,000 ways something won’t work, I haven’t failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.

All of those are attributed to Thomas A. Edison.

  14. ‘Will you stay in our lovers story?
If you stay, you won’t be sorry
    ‘Cos we believe in you…’

    David Bowie – Happy Birthday!

  15. Robert Duvall, my astrotwin.

It’s no big thing, but you make big things out of little things sometimes.

Being a star is an agent’s dream, not an actor’s.

I always thought of myself as a later bloomer, so I like some of my work more later than earlier.

I don’t have many people showing up at my door. Very few people come out. When they do, I get a little suspicious. I live way up on a hill, way, way back in the country.

Too many people think that economics is this subject that should wait until the university level. But it can’t wait that long.

I like to do things that I develop from the ground up.

  16. Diane Keaton, another astrotwin

I build a wall around myself. I`m hard to get to know. Any trait you have, it gets worse as you go along.

I just have to keep going back to the core and think that we`re all afraid of it and when we`re afraid of it, you run to something much easier, something that looks like candy.

I had a career and I came to motherhood late and am not married and have never had such a trusting relationship with a man – and trust is where the real power of love comes from.

Of course I recognized myself in the roles [Woody Allen] wrote. I mean, in Annie Hall (1977) particularly. I was this sort of novice who had lots of feelings but didn`t know how to express herself, and I see that in Annie. I think Woody used a kind of essential quality that he found in me at that time, and I`m glad he did because it worked really well in the movie.

It’s not fun seeing myself in the mirror.

A sense of freedom is something that, happily, comes with age and life experience. In The Second Sex, Simone de Beauvoir says that as they approach 50, a lot of women are set free from the anxiety and the mortification and the humiliation of intimate relationships with men – the opposite sex. For some reason, you are suddenly free from
it. And thank God for that. It’s the upside of sticking around this long.

I’d like to go out authentic.

  17. Has anyone seen Denzel in that movie Man on Fire with Dakota Fanning? This is a REALLY good movie, and I guess it struck home for Denzel because in it he plays an alcoholic who is hired as a bodyguard to protect Fanning from being kidnaped by the Mexican mob. SUCH a good film! Thanks for the info on these Caps… good stuff!

  18. My friend said to me:

“Dina, I don’t know what your deal is with growing up. It’s fun to be a grown up.”

  19. Joanna Newsom is a Capricorn.

“If I had to choose one of the four elements I would be Earth because I just feel the least clumsy when I’m Earth bound and I’m really good at jumping from rock to rock like a mountain goat. I grew up in the mountains and I feel really bound to that, I guess. I would never feel at home in the water.”

  20. Zooey Deschanel has Sun/Moon/Mercury tightly conjunct in Capricorn:

“I have trouble actually describing myself because I’m always suspicious of people who start describing themselves. I’m like, “OK, why are you trying to tell me what you are?”

“People say: “Oh yeah, jobs for the boys”. I wish. You’ve got to fight even harder with a family like mine.”

“You have to keep reminding yourself it’s not about money, because there is a lot of money to be made in this business if you’re willing to do whatever. But that’s not what I’m thinking about. I continue only to take movies because I love the script and because I really want to do it.”

And Mars/Jupiter and Saturn in Virgo:

“I don’t want to be a babe. I don’t want vanity to ever get in the way, because I think to maintain that, you have to be aware of yourself all the time, and that gets in the way of acting. My job’s not to be the beautiful person. My job is to be the best actor I can be.”

“[interview in “In Style” magazine, 9/06] The first album I ever got was “Like a Virgin”. It was during the Iran Contra conflict-I thought she was saying, “Like a Persian”.”
