Capricorn is known for being in control, their seriousness and taking responsibility, and persevering in difficult circumstances. Typically Capricorn struggles and overcomes great adversity in early life, building character, as they say. But the sign matures well, and things tend to ease the 2nd half of life as Capricorn comes into their own, generally proving themselves to be formidable people with integrity who no longer discounted.
And it’s not that going out for a hack is wrong or bad, I certainly don’t view it as that; it’s just that there’s something about the dressage, being put through your paces, that makes you better.

I have no interest in Shakespeare and all that British nonsense… I just wanted to get famous and all the rest is hogwash.

Everyone knows that time is Death, that Death hides in clocks. Imposing another time powered by the Clock of the Imagination, however, can refuse his law. Here, freed of the Grim Reaper’s scythe, we learn that pain is knowledge and all knowledge pain.

I hated every minute of training, but I said, ”Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.”

Have a Capricorn quote? Post it!
YAY!!! I Luuuuvre Capricorns!
I know a Capricorn who also has Saturn in Capricorn–that planet’s home. He had a terrible MVA a few year ago, broke 2 vertebrate, had the surgery, and has lived to tell the tale. He’s now a yoga teacher. Talk about overcoming adversity.
It’s true, Capricorns grow more youthful in spirit as they grow older.
Favorite Capricorn quotes:
Louise Bourgeois (an awesome sculptor):
–“Every day you have to abandon your past or accept it and then if you cannot accept it, you become a scultor.”
Patti Smith:
–“One road is paved with gold, one road is just a road.”
I was married to a Cap for 12 years. I’m a Leo. The beginning was great, but over time, we just had nothing in common at all.
My experience with my Cap.. he was awful with money, stubborn to no end, and self-centered. He didn’t like to go out or socialize.. he was a homebody, always had his headphones on working on his music. He had a good heart though and tried. Just went about it all wrong.
I’ll definitely agree that they persevere. That’s a great quality.
We still get along though. I mean we have to for our kiddo’s sake. But he drives me NUTS! lol At least we live 1500 miles from each other.
So um… What does that mean for a Cap Moon? Cuz I really loathe mine most of the time…
Why, Michelle?
“It’s true, Capricorns grow more youthful in spirit as they grow older.”
You know Christine, you’re right. My dad’s dad died when he was some months old and he and his two older brothers were raised by his single mom. So, basically he got used to scrimping and learned to cook at a pretty young age (or was it my brother that learned to cook at a pretty young age..) but anyway, he always worked hard in school and didn’t really go out (currently he can’t understand why I don’t do my homework, he advised me a little while ago to finally learn responsibility and self control which I thought at that moment was very Capricorn advice) started working when he was 16 and when he went to college, was working some jobs too. He got married early so he had to deal with the responsibility of a kid. The real example of how my dad took on a lot of responsibility at a relatively young age is how when my mom was pregnant with me, he worked a night and day job (maybe more?), came to my mom’s hospital every day and cooked her food, and visited his mom every day because without him she wouldn’t eat. Without him, my mom and I wouldn’t be able to survive in America or get as far as we’ve gotten. But at the same time, he has a really corny sense of humor/loves to tell jokes, which I think is a Capricorn thing for their whole life, I don’t know if it constitutes being more youthful when you’re older and also loves to socialize with people (I guess he is more successful at it than both my mom and me even though I LIVE on socializing). He is pretty reserved at home in a certain way and in company he often tells stories that I haven’t heard which makes me angrier than anything (Cancer: I don’t want to miss stories about my parents’ past). He and I definitely roughhouse/argue in an immature way. Neither of us really know how to stop and..I guess it’s difficult to explain, but a Capricorn can definitely act like a big little kid. My mom is always telling me how she is always in the middle and able to be accomodating when I usually want my own thing (with the Cancer in my chart, I am pretty Cardinal). And it seems to be getting more prominent as he gets older.
I just found this on the profile of a Scorpio and I think it relates to both Capricorn and Scorpio:
“Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing
are the same.”
“A true friend is one who walks in
when the rest of the world walks out.”
The first one seems like such a Saturn thing, I think… and so does the second one.
I have always been a big Annie Lennox fan. I think she is the bomb, for sure. This is one of her quotes that I love:
“There are two kinds of artists left: those who endorse Pepsi and those who simply won’t. “
My birthday is tomorrow. Me and Elvis! Ha!
I love the cappy quote… I’m hoping this year constitutes the “second half of my life” (not that I want to die sooner than necessary) but I’m looking forward to *that* part! 🙂
I certainly feel like my life has been a “game of two halves”. This half is certainly gettin better and better. Letting go and letting go. Just corrected my spelling- need to let go some more! Capricorn rising, Saturn in 1st.
Happy birthday. And Elvis too.
I was talking to a Capricorn once about astrology and charts. She gave me her birthdate, I worked up a rudimentary analysis, talked to her about the idea that the examples I might give of tendencies would not necessarily translate into the exact behaviors in *her*, but perhaps something similar, etc, but when all was said and done, she sat down and tallied up the “right” examples of possible behavior and the “wrong” examples of possible behaviors (ignoring what I’d said about them just being examples of tendencies that might play out in other ways with her personally) and then declared that it was “too close to call” because there was only one more “wrong” than “right”, and therefore she remained a skeptic. LOL! I was like, “Um, you do realize that what you just did there with the tallying of the untally-able? Really quite Capricorn in nature.” She didn’t really understand that at all. Such an amusing experience.
Ha ha I love Anthony Hopkins!!
So Capricorn, studies the game, masters the game, wins!!!
My Grandmother raised 5 siblings, all of whom grew up to adore her, raised her own children, and then my sister and myself. She was outgoing, friendly, and kind. Favorite quote: “Hell, Damn, Spit”, an expression I never heard anyone else use.
I think I am going to get a t-shirt with that on it!
Hell, Damn, Spit!
I love it!!!
One thing about Cappies – if they get depressed, they tend to get monumentally depressed, so if you are involved with one, be warned!
I have a younger Capricorn (moon, mercury,Sun) friend, a wild child, hard life, recovered meth head, now a great Mom of three young. She is so imaginative and full of wit and originality and still wild, really. She was driving and bored one day and called into this local radio station the topic being tattoos. She just improvised and said that she had a tattoo of a horseshoe on her butt along with the words “Lucky You” That station played that recording of her for weeks.
