Bearing Your Legacy

Oskar_DirlewangerDefinition of LEGACY (merriam webster)

1: a gift by will especially of money or other personal property

2: something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past

“Bearing your legacy.”

I was struck when I heard this phrase. I don’t usually think of legacy in terms of it being something a person has to bear, but often enough this is exactly the case.

As an example you may have a parent who is a notorious criminal. Daddy worked in a concentration camp. Certainly you have some inheritance there and it’s not good.

I thought this would be a good topic for Saturn (burden) in Scorpio (legacy).

Do you enjoy your legacy?  Or do you bear it?

  1. Wow how true..I just read your post & flew to my Ex’s chart there it is Saturn in Scorpio 11th house conjunct with mercury & true node…Daddy was a notorious hit man in TX…what a mess

  2. When i first read this I thought about Ryan Gosling – any excuse – saw another of his films recently and he’s so great at this kind of topic. Films about how the actions we choose, choose us. Shape our children.

I don’t know what to say about my legacy, but I bear it.

  3. Since the parents passed I’ve been scrubbing the bear. I got to know them most intimately before they passed. All they had the energy to do. I had to stick with what I want to carry on and battle and dissolve that other stuff. Nobody’s perfect. I decided last nite, as that stuff winds down, that I would have been a fool not to take the opportunity to do so. I’m maintaining 3 sibling relationships and that’s the rub. I come from a different planet. And it’s okay.

Reminds me of the “the little sparrow” aka Stalins daughter. Now she had the Sun in Pisces conjuct pars fortune. She tried all her life to distance herself from ‘him’ . But no matter who she married outside of russia, no matter how much she denounced russia in the end she had to admit she could not escape her fate. I think she said something like that as well. She was tied to her fate which was tied to her father.

My Mother and Father were a mess. I was tied to their hideous choices and I have had to bear it. It was much harder as a child of course. You can’t get away when you are a child. You are just stuck in it.

I no longer speak to them. They know why.

I bear it. For me the term ‘grin & bear it’ is how this applies to me.

I am a Cancer Sun, & i am going through me 1st Saturn return, so family legacy is a very personal topic for me & very important. Regardless of the legacy being a good or bad.
