Astrology Book Review: Midpoints by Don McBroom Reviewed by Mary Plumb

Mary Plumb for the Mountain Astrologer - Enjoy!

McBroom“Don McBroom’s book on midpoints is one of the best astrology books I have read in a long time. As part of Llewellyn’s Special Topics in Astrology series, Midpoints is an exceptionally clear and thorough textbook on an astrological technique that is often overlooked because it is assumed to be too complex or arcane. The mountains of data that computer programs calculate for midpoint analysis can certainly seem bizarre or overwhelming to the beginner. Yet, McBroom’s book admirably demonstrates that, if you have a good grasp of the meanings of the planets, you can easily learn to integrate the planetary relationships shown by midpoint pictures into your astrological repertoire…”

Book Review: Cosmic Trends: Astrology Connects the Dots by Philip Brown reviewed by Sue Taylor

Daykeeper Journal - Enjoy!

C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\~p2b\cosmict.jpg“In COSMIC TRENDS, Philip Brown takes us on a future and historical journey detailing the connections between the planets and cultural trends in our society. He especially focuses on the slower moving outer planets and the influence their movement has on the generations.

Brown describes the planets’ movements from the seven-year cycle of Uranus to the 12-to-30-year movement of Pluto through the signs. The movement they make, says Brown, influences every aspect of life on this planet—from religion, to popular culture, to art, to technology, and everything in between.

Astrology Book Review: Astrologia Gallica 16 (Jean-Baptiste Morin) by Nini Gryphon

Nina Gryphon - Enjoy!

“The indefatigable James Holden has translated another volume of Jean-Baptiste Morin’s astrological opus. Book Sixteen, a relatively slim volume relative to others in the series, discusses “The Rays and Aspects of the Planets.” The book is mostly theoretical, unlike some of Morin’s more hands-on volumes, and all but the most hardened Morinistes will value the book as an exposition of the theory behind astrological aspects…”

Astrology Book Review: The Ascendant by Jodie Forrest reviewed by Mary Plumb

Mary Plumb reviews, “The Ascendant” by Jodie Forrest

Forrest“Jodie Forrest has been a practicing astrologer for 24 years, and her books are read and appreciated by countless astrology students. Her newest book focuses on the Ascendant, obviously a major component of the horoscope. Although classical and traditional astrologers thoroughly studied the Ascendant, it has perhaps been underrepresented in more contemporary work. This important chart factor is ripe for reconsideration and Jodie Forrest’s new book presents a fresh, appealing approach to the subject…”

Astrology Book Review: Flirting with the Zodiac by Kim Farnell, Reviewed by Nina Gryphon

Gryphon Astrology Blog - Enjoy!

“Both modern and traditional astrologers like to grouse at Sun sign columnists for prostituting the ancient astrological art. The complexity of the natal horoscope is reduced to one single factor – the Sun sign – and the public is disappointed when these simplified predictions do not pan out. At least, that is the common understanding…”

Book Review: Between Past & Presence: A Spiritual View of the Moon & Sun by Eric Meyers

Bill Streett reviews “A Spiritual View of the Moon & Sun” by Eric Meyers for Star IQ - Enjoy!

Past-Pr
“Often when something basic and fundamental is learned, it is forgotten and ignored. When the rudimentary scales of music are studied, any music student is eager to try her hand at the latest, most popular composition. When the central rules of grammar are learned in a foreign language, the pupil enthusiastically travels to the country that speaks the newly learned tongue…”

Book Review: Astrology and the Causes of War - Review by Mary Plumb

Mary Plumb for Mountain Astrologer - Enjoy!

Macphai“When several (non-astrologer) friends and family members noticed this book in my office — and it does have attention-grabbing red ink on the cover — they all more or less raised their eyebrows. What use could such a topic possibly have? Is there no end to what these astrologers will speculate upon? For outsiders, this may seem like an outlandish application of our craft, but for astrologers, Jamie Macphail’s book is a masterpiece worthy of endless interest and study…”
