NewsScope for August 19, 2008: Obama In Colorado, Russia And Phelps by Michael WolfStar
Michael WolfStar - Enjoy!

Obama in Colorado
“In 1859, gold was discovered near Idaho Springs, which resides in the current state of Colorado. The gold rush was on as the so-called “fifty-niners” established camps in Boulder, Colorado City, Gold Hill, and Pueblo. The Colorado Territory was organized around these camps to govern the chaotic prospecting claims, and then on August 1, 1876 Colorado entered the union as the 38th state…”

Russia Invades Georgia
“In a tense assertion of its post-Cold War strength, Russia has launched a full-scale military assault in the former Soviet nation of Georgia. This event allows political astrologers to test their various horoscopes for Russia, to see which of the many alternatives fits the current political and military confrontation. Astrology In The Mainstream New: When astrology plays stork for expectant mothers
From Sindh Today - Enjoy!
“Ashika Mehul Dhokai gave birth to a girl at exactly 8 a.m. on Aug 8 - the time translating into 8/8/8/8 - a configuration many considered auspicious.
While Ahmedabad-based Dhokai’s delivery was normal, many urban Indian women nowadays turn to doctors to time their delivery at a propitious hour. Astrology In The Mainstream: Bitter Edge - Should we lay off “on the cusp”? Jan Freeman
Jan Freeman for Boston.com
“The news last week brought a cornucopia of cusps, with Michael Phelps “on the cusp of history,” China “on the cusp of a new golden age,” and Madonna on the cusp - or not! - of adopting another child.
Amid all that cuspiness, I was perplexed to learn from David Devore - American-born but long resident in England - that this use of cusp to mean “edge” or “brink” was not universally acceptable. American reporters “have been using ’cusp’ as if it meant ’brink’: It doesn’t,” e-mailed Devore. “Now British writers are aping this habit. Can you please tell your fellow journalists to cut it out?”

Astrology In The Mainstream News: A Vice Presidential Half-Birthday for Mayor Bloomberg?
Nitya Venkataraman - Enjoy!

“Predicting political destinies isn’t just for the Sunday morning set this election season. Earlier this summer, astrologer Susan Miller offered her thoughts to ABC News on the ’08 landscape and predicted the fall of a political leader during the first week of August, Hillary Clinton’s Senate departure and New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg on a November ticket.
It seemed appropriate — the week before back-to-back political conventions with no vice presidential announcements as of yet — to revisit Miller’s predictions for 2008’s political all stars.
She felt that Bloomberg’s chances of being on a November ticket were good…”

“Two years after Pluto was ousted from the planet lineup, some supporters of the now dwarf planet are fighting to restore its title. But others say it’s time to move on.
The current 8-planet system versus the 13-planet system—which would include Pluto—was the subject of a boisterous debate Thursday at the “Great Planet Debate: Science as a Process” conference at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory near Columbia, Maryland.

Bill Gwatney by Jude Cowell
Jude Cowell - Enjoy!
“Yesterday I searched for the birth data of Dem Party chairman Bill Gwatney who was shot Wednesday at the Little Rock Arkansas Dem headquarters and died some four hours later.
Finding his birth date rather quickly I chalked up a sunrise/solar natal chart, looked at transits for August 13, 2008, ’shortly before noon’ in Little Rock, then this morning I published here an entry on the August 13 transits to Mr. Gwatney’s chart…”
