What about Babies Born With Uranus Square Pluto?

zombies-of-the-stratosphereA reader asks:

“With all the harsh angles between Uranus & Pluto & other planets that is going on for a few years, I am wondering how this is going to affect the people born during these rough times. And how it might play out, both personally for those born during this time, as well as globally as time goes on.”

This is a good question!  Many of the kids born at this this time are going to have a Cardinal t-square or grand cross in their charts.  This can be seen as their “inheritance”.  I’ve been reading about this lately.

As for having how these kids will be affected,  the harsh configuration in their charts will behave like any other harsh configuration in a chart. It will come alive when activated by transit.  When Mars hits a someone’s grand cross, it hots them up.  When the Moon aspects someone’s t-square, it sensitizes it.

As for how each individual fares, it depends on what they are taught and/or what they can teach themselves.  Remember that energy is neutral until directed.  All energy can be channeled into something positive.  Every pole has an opposite pole.

One kid with a grand cross in his chart may  receive no guidance. He’s allowed to grow like a weed.  Another kid is taught discipline. Maybe he’s taught extreme discipline.

I would not draw conclusions based on this. A kid who very disciplined can learn to flow, later in life. Someone who grew up without structure can decide to create some, on their own.

I don’t think you can look at millions of kids with harsh cardinal aspects in their chart and conclude, they are going to all be one way. Think about it.

You piss off one kid, and he goes out and runs around a track, faster than anyone else in his school.
You piss off another kid and he brings a gun to school.

If you have kids with harsh aspects like this, the best thing you can do is work with them. But this is true for kids with charts full of trines as well.  Without guidance, people like that tend to take the easy way and wind up under-achieving.

Globally speaking, I don’t think this is that big a deal. It’s like the people born with Uranus Pluto conjunct in their charts. I don’t see them having a big impact, do you?  Many of them have detached (Uranus) from their depth and the collective (Pluto).

I don’t mean that, critically.  It’s just that there are so many people out there, I don’t think a group born in a 3- 5 year period is going to change the world.  An individual in that group may, though.

I’m sorry if this seems to lack the drama you may expect – zombie apocalypse.  But the drama is in there.

My dramatic statement is this: your kids (with grand crosses in their charts) have tools. Teach them to use them, properly. Empower them with education, including a moral education (even  if you missed this yourself), and I think they’ll be fine.

Nobody has an unworkable chart – nobody.

If you would like to send a question, I’d be glad to hear from you.

  1. Very nice! yes I have been wondering about the youngsters being born during this pluto uranus square 🙂 thank you!

  2. I disagree re the uranus/pluto generation. They’re the ones who faciliatated the technical revolution, invented the internet and so forth are they not?

      1. Yes, I think the ones who truly did this are us, Uranus in Scorpio Generation. Uranus is exhalted in Scorpio, after all. 😉

        1. “The Internet as we know it today first started being developed in the late 1960’s.
In the summer of 1968, the Network Working Group (NWG) held its first meeting chaired by Elmer Shapiro with the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) with attendees: Steve Carr, Steve Crocker, Jeff Rulifson, and Ron Stoughton. In the meeting, the group discussed solving issues related to getting hosts to communicate with each other.”

Ok, so not the generation itself, but the conjunction closely preceded this.

Hey- Thanks for this nugget Elsa! I’ve been wondering about this especially since I’ve had to go back (sudden change-Uranus) to school and ended up in a Social Change Skills class (Saturn/Chiron conjunction in Pisces opposite Uranus/Pluto conjunction in Virgo) that is has been exploring the reason “impact” has not been made by my generation.

    Thank you again

    1. I am so interested in 90 degree aspect as it related to the late 60’s. I wrote another piece about this last week, intended to tie this (week’s posts) together and try to explain. It loads tomorrow.

      1. Great, can’t wait. I need some more insight!
( as a side note- our teachers have repeatedly commented on how this year’s enrollment into the Human Service Associate Degree Program has been the highest ever. The community college had to add more course classes to accommodate the influx of interest.)

Do you love the astrology of that? 🙂

      2. What 90 degree aspect? I just threw up Feb 1968 chart and there’s Pluto/Uranus (cj my Sun/Asc) dancing around Virgo/Libra cusp opp Saturn.
(I consider it one of the greatest blessings of my life perspective to have grown up in the 60’s but to have been just shy of being old enough to be a ‘hippie’. The excitement emanating from social upheaval was quite literally in the air. It has profoundly shaped my social values. But, many, if not most, of that ‘hippie’ generation went on to embody the worst of the establishment values of those days and morphed into the it’s all about ME greedy capitalist Boomers. Sometimes I look around at my peers and I am totally mystified by that metamorphosis; of course, many justified their selfishness as ‘doing what’s best for my family’. Shades of Pluto in Cancer or what?)

          1. Now I understand – you mean the current opening square as related to the conjunction in the 60’s.
I find it very exciting to observe the (extremely) gradual evolution of the ideals posited then.

  4. The Uranus/Pluto sign placements will bear witness to the generational conditions; to bring these aspects to a more personal level, look to the house placements instead.

  5. I look forward to the day when an astrologer does a book on how to handle difficult/challenging transits in a positive way….great article Elsa!

  6. Detached from the collective – interesting. I’m of that generation and I think that’s how my group of friends felt right from early in our lives. Not having any sense of place in it. Blocked. Seems like a lot of our contemporaries didn’t feel that though.

I didn’t feel detached from my depth, but I felt my depth necessarily detached me from connection with people somehow. I don’t know if that will make any sense to anyone else.

I like to think our generation has made an impact but that the nature of virgo is, it’s a quiet impact and a behind-the-scenes impact. But maybe I just need to believe that. A grand cross as inheritance; yes I relate. Looking forward to you saying more on that Elsa.

  7. To get an idea of babies born with this current generation cardinal T-square, one only has to look at historical references of generations past to gain reliable insight on this phenomena. Take a look at the ones born in the early 1930s with Uranus in Aries then BUT Pluto in the opposite sign (Cancer) Its very interesting because back then Neptune was in Virgo, opposite to where it is now.

I had first hand experience of this generation as my Father (1932 Pisces) had this aspect influencing some of his personal planets.

Research how there lives unfolded and what impacts they made on the local community the grew up in and the world at large. This should give you some idea of potential influences for this newer generation of babies.

  8. Great post Elsa, thanks!

I have Uranus conjunct Pluto to within a few minutes. I’m thinking about changing the world sometime soon. 🙂

    1. Have a look at David Cameron (current UK PM) and Bashar al-Assad (Syrian President) both of them are from our generation and I’m sure there are other “behind the scenes” public servants around the world who were born with Pluto/Uranus in Virgo aspect personal planets or sensitive points in there natal charts pulling strings (or not!) as the case may be…
Ask yourself, what kind of effects are these leaders having on the world now and its repercussions??

      1. Hmm, it is a heavy power for sure. I think Elsa’s right that a lot of us deny it because of that. I also think it is easier to use it for ill than for good. It is far too easy for me to raise he’ll, not so easy to find a good way to direct the energy (Pluto Uranus square Sun in Gemini).

  9. The last time the world had a generation with a waxing square between Pluto and Uranus must have been in the late 1870s (Pluto in taurus vs. Uranus in leo) just before the great conjunction between Pluto and neptune in 1891-93. Interesting if that generation could tell us something about the dynamics. Great authors like Thoman Mann and Herman Hesse were born then – they definitely had something to say about the modern world.

I do think the present Pluto/Uranus squares activate a lot for those of us with the conjunction who are ready to seize the moment. Donna Cunningham wrote about the aspect as a diamond that needed tremendous hardship to emerge in its brilliance.. Lets see when they go in direct aspect, that’ll happen to me next year…

    1. The current tranist of Pluto is coming up to trine this generations Pluto/Uranus conjunction and we have to consider the Chiron return (from Pisces) at the same time as a lot of this generation have Chiron in opposition to this dynamic conjunction from birth. Overall I think, unless other aspects, like both secondary progressions & other transits going on in the chart are “kicking” things along, then we won’t see anything obvious from this generation in the meantime.
We have to always remember Virgo is basically an introverted sign by nature (feminine energy) and can be seen in some ways as an inversion of the power from the sign preceding it – Leo. However this has to be taken in context with this conjunctions sextile to Neptune in Scorpio (another feminine energy sign) too.
Personally, I’ve never been one to look at single aspects in isolation, everything in an individuals chart is energy in one form or another linked all togeather and that goes for planets in isolation or unaspected. They all rotate around the mighty Sun! 🙂

  11. I have a dear friend who gave birth on New Year’s Eve 12.31.13 at 11:44am. When I went to visit the sweet little angel (very low-birth weight & low rate of gain), it seems to me that she may be a Down Syndrome baby. I was flooded with emotions as I met her…wondering how to support Mama & baby. Wow! Uranus in the 1st & all those planets: Pluto, Venus, Mercury, Sun, Moon…in Capricorn, I think in her 10th & 11th houses. It seems like she will change everyone around her. Little Angel!
