Life In A War Zone Or It’s Equivalent

March 21st, 2011 @ 7:21 am by Elsa

Astrology in real life

I used to write about my husband on this blog a lot. I slowed and then virtually stopped writing about him all together for a variety of reasons but with all the emphasis on Aries right now, he’s hard to ignore.

My husband and I do a lot of talking. It turns out he talks very little to anyone else and it took me more than five years to discover this. I just assumed he was forthcoming with everyone as he is with me but in reality he doesn’t tell anyone anything. He’s had an incredible life by anyone’s standards and it’s a lot to contain over decades and then filter through one person – me. There has been an information dump of epic proportions.

He’s keen and his stories shock, at least initially. It took me several years to fully get beyond that, I don’t know why. I got beyond it by asking questions and ya’ll know I asked a lot of questions because I am one freakishly curious cat.

U.S.S. Thach (FFG-43) By The Virgo Avenger

October 18th, 2010 @ 7:20 am by Virgo Avenger

Just a male Virgo’s point of view; # Twenty-Three (Part of a series, Continued from # 19)

(I spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy and I will not bore you with all of it, I just want to share a few views with you from time to time on some of the ways I saw things).

My next ship I reported to as an E-5 was to the U.S.S. Thach (FFG-43) This ship was designated as a Guided Missile Fast Frigate and was of the “Perry” class. These ships were designed to be high speed, powered by two DC-10 aircraft engines, with a missile launcher on the front, and a Italian made gun mount in the middle that fired 70 pound projectiles at a rate of 80 per minute.

Venus Neptune War Stories… And What Should Be My Epitaph

December 18th, 2009 @ 5:05 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

To give you a scope of this, how vast and endless it is, I tell a story of a man I was love with and he with me. Engaged to be married, we traveled to meet his family over the holiday season where I was kicked out of house for being a “nigger”. The exact words were, “I told you not to bring that nigger to my house.”

8th housw“We have been discussing things for years and all kinds of things have come up. I think we’ve touched on most everything and most things we’ve talked about over and over,” I told the soldier the other night.

“Yep.”

My 8th House Remarks The Blond Pony Tail Women And On Collective Psychology

October 27th, 2008 @ 7:44 am by Elsa

Astrology in real life

world-at-war.jpgRegarding the blond ponytail lady, I hope this isn’t misinterpreted but!

But the soldier and I have been watching The World at War over the last weeks.

As most of you know he’s a war history buff and he considers this the best war documentary ever made. It was made in the seventies and could not be made now as many of the people interviewed (Holocaust survivors for example) are dead.

It was also made before “spin” and “political correctness” became so prevalent. Back when documentaries were made to inform and actually document history rather than something fashioned to entertain or advance a political agenda and while it is long (11 dvds) it is inordinately interesting.

afg-050121-002.jpgHere’s a story for you. I am well aware that when the soldier and I were kids, the peanut gallery as in the people I knew) did not want me with him. I did not know there were people on his side talking me down but learned this weekend I did have some detractors. I was surprised. Not because I think I am so wonderful but how come I’d not heard this before?

“Who? What was their problem with me?” I asked. “What did they say?”

“Oh, they said what are you doing with that girl? She doesn’t like the military. What are you doing with her? She’s not a military person.”

The Saturn Return Of The Soldier And P… And The Cold War

September 18th, 2008 @ 9:16 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

cold-war.jpgConcerning Russia it occurred to me tonight, we are approaching the Saturn return of the cold war and look at the news. Back when we were kids, the soldier’s job was as front and center as you could possibly get on that and to see a conflict cropping up again is… well it’s history repeating just like our history is repeating but how to parse that is anyone’s guess.

It gives me serious doubts the soldier and will go peacefully into our old age, I’ll say that.

Hearing Your Calling – Share Your Experiences

August 31st, 2008 @ 12:25 pm by Elsa

Ask the collective

prince_harry_soldier.jpggoddess writes regarding the soldier who did not quit on Voice Of Mars: Ranger School:

“sounds like he was in the right line of work…”

goddess, I agree.  There have been a lot of comments made along these lines: “Why would anyone volunteer to be a soldier?” I thought it was interesting the same day I posted that blog, this story broke:

Prince Harry Desperate to Return to Front Line in Afghanistan

Voice Of South Node In Aries: Past Life Soldier – Joan Of Arc

August 11th, 2008 @ 7:04 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

joan_of_arc_engraving.jpgWe watched, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc over the weekend. Joan of Arc is the soldier’s patron saint. Apparently this was a strange choice of saint for a young machismo type boy but he said you’re supposed to pray and meditate on it which is what he did and she is who came to him.

He didn’t know anything about her at the time but has since read virtually everything ever written and when he makes a claim of this sort you can believe he’s not kidding.

We liked the movie a lot. It was tremendously moving but my favorite part was this comment he made…

Voice Of Mars – “Everyone Hates Snipers”

July 30th, 2008 @ 6:41 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

sniper.jpgThe other night the soldier and I were watching Sniper. I’d never seen it and was surprised how good it is above and beyond the obvious eye-candy. The first two thirds of the movie, this is. The last third was a little much if you have Libra but anyway, the soldier has worked as a sniper…

“Yeah, I liked it but nobody likes you. Everyone hates snipers,” he said.

“Why? They seem very necessary. Aren’t they necessary?”

“Yeah, they’re good for all kinds of things. Psychological warfare…” he went on to elaborate. “You can hit a guy from almost a mile away. There’s no way they can know what’s coming.”

“I see. So why don’t they like ‘em?”

“Well, it’s considered somewhat cowardly in the military tradition,” he said.

I was fascinated to learn this, maybe you feel similar.
