Taurus Party at The Magicians Abode

May 2nd, 2011 @ 12:07 am by Nota

Notes from the Psychoscape

My friend, the one who gave me the tomato, lives in an old church called The Moon Mansion. Something like 14 other people live there.

I went to visit her the other day and she took me to the basement to see the plecostomus.

The house is packed with forgotten oddities. The old guy who owns the place is a Cancer and runs it like a 12th house dormitory. Mostly artists and two of his sons live there. I bite my lip and pinch myself whenever I go there because it has surreal dream architecture, hidden doors and iconic piles of stuff you haven’t seen in years. Stacks and stacks of National Geographics next to a wall of display picture frame corners, darkness spotted with glare coming out of floating peep holes, a miter saw, a suit of armor, muffled conversations leaking through the walls.

After we had a good stare at the old fish she turns around and knocks on a door I hadn’t noticed.

Hexagram 16 and the Moon by Nota

November 27th, 2010 @ 8:48 pm by Nota

Notes From the Oracle

hex 16 I did an I Ching reading for a client the other night. She has a virtual blank slate situation and is weighing a lot of different options. It’s the kind of opportunity where one can entertain ideas that were once unfeasible. Let’s just say that she is wide open to an array of possibilities at this point.

The final hexagram was number 16,  often translated as “enthusiasm.”  It can also mean “lively, happy.” As a verb it can be “comfort” or “prepare.”

Dixie’s Daily Tarot: July 5, 2010: Saturn in Libra Moonshine

July 5th, 2010 @ 5:04 am by Dixie

Astrology Meets Tarot

moon-18I wanted to tell a Saturn in Libra story, and drew the Moon for help. The Moon sometimes gets a bad rap in Tarot, as dominion of both magic and madness. Animal natures are revealed by moonlight. Illusion and reality are hard to distinguish. Here we see a woman basking in moonlight, flanked by two figures of  Thoth. Known largely as arbitrator, Thoth was originally considered the Moon God, credited for magic, writing, and present at judgment of the dead. The dual Anubis dog status represent the Egyptian Jackal-headed god who had the job of weighing the heart against the “feather of truth,” thus determining their fate in the afterlife.

Dixie’s Daily Tarot, July 4, 2010: Refining Your Song with Faith

Astrology Meets Tarot

nine-pentacles

You SO never know where the roads you walk will take you. One thing I’ve learned, nevertheless, it to pay attention to those little signs you see along the way. I’m always looking for clues, both as to how I’m doing, and how to do better. Heeding such signs is a surefire way to amp up joy. I’ve found no better barometer of how I’m doing than how much joy I feel, and how often.

The Nine of Pentacles is a great sign! The woman here is playing a piano that’s integrated with the tree. In other words, her physical life is in tune with her spiritual life, allowing her to fully express her gifts. She is in tune, organically. Her music is authentic, springing forth from pure expression of her nature.

Dixie’s Daily Tarot, July 3, 2010: Feast it Up!

July 3rd, 2010 @ 5:02 am by Dixie

Astrology Meets Tarot

My life is shifting beneath my feet. I don’t find this especially unpleasant, albeit at times unsettling. Overall, there’s clear indication the ground is en route to configuring properly—for me to grow more, give more, and live a more fruitful life. Maybe it’s a dish of Lunar eclipse being served up.

Asking about the changes, I got the same card I saw asking about joining the team here: The King of Pentacles. While you’ll see differing astrological associations (for many cards), the traditional pairing of Taurus for the King (fixed/Earth) works well here.  The king is surrounded by abundance of every kind, with sensual bull imagery adoring his throne. Let the feasting begin!

Dixie’s Daily Tarot, July 2, 2010: Parenting Consciousness

Osho Zen Tarot Deck Ace Swords

I especially enjoyed the comments on “A Mother’s Worry” the other day; I appreciate hearing different perspectives on parent-child relationships, because it makes my own richer. I was thinking about what was said when I went out to see my own folks. .

Consciousness is the card I drew for insight on my own relationship with my parents. This is the Ace of Clouds (aka Swords).  Aces are usually related to potential, new beginnings. Since we’re in the Air element, we are in the realm of reason and logic, how we think about things. But unlike the traditional representation of the Ace of Swords, Consciousness suggests an understanding beyond just logical processing of ideas.

Dixie’s Daily Tarot, July 1, 2010: Do Unto Thyself

Astrology Meets Tarot

knight-pentacles

Mistakes drive me nuts—I hate getting something wrong, getting confused, missing a detail. Not a Leo-rising brand of rampaging diva kind of hate. More like my chest tightens up and I feel like I’m letting someone down—even if it’s just me. My expectations of myself don’t allow the same generosity I readily extend to anybody else, and it makes everything I do at least three times as hard.

The Knight of Pentacles can be obsessive as well. Some of Joan Bunning’s interpretations particularly resonated with me today. That rather serious, well-meaning knight can take his work (and himself) too seriously. He digs in and can get things done, but spends all night re-plowing his field trying to get the rows perfectly straight.

Dixie’s Daily Tarot, June 30, 2010: A Mother’s Worry

June 30th, 2010 @ 5:03 am by Dixie

Astrology Meets Tarot

four-cupsMy daughter—almost 21—moved across the country six months ago. I miss her, hard. She’s still my baby, even if she doesn’t qualify by any objective standard.

We’re texting, and out of the blue, I get a feeling. I ask her if she’s doing okay. No response. I wait a bit and trying calling. Voicemail. Lather, rinse, repeat a few times for good measure.

I’ve got no tangible provocation to worry, really. So why doesn’t somebody tell my stomach that?  Maybe that’s what the Four of Cups was trying to do. I asked for guidance, and he responds, inverted. In this deck, the card is associated with the moon in Cancer.
