I wonder what people teach their children about money and how they do it, if they do it. Do you set an example? Do you specifically teach some kind of philosophy?

My son has his Sun in Taurus conjunct Saturn and I have no doubt he is going to be able to manage money. Matter of fact, his Sun, Moon and Ascendant are all in Venus-ruled signs with Venus elevated so I’d not be surprised if he were to become known for his money but in whatever case, he is going on 12 years old and I’ve just come up with the new money rules.

Apparently Vid’s best friend from 1st grade visited his school today and might be “trying to get back in.”

“I hope not,” Vid said.

“Why not?

“He became my greatest rival,” Vid said, very seriously. “Remember in second grade, there were like 5 guys trying to get at Melanie? She picked me for some reason. I was like the little short kid who could,” he said, causing me to laugh out load. “Yeah, she liked me for some reason but he was always over their boasting. I am the greatest! I am the greatest, all hail me…”

Vid has a Scorpio Mars and Sun Conjunct Saturn in Taurus. To him, love is serious and he will cut you, LOL

I just worked on a chart for the class of a young woman who is infinitely complicated. She’s 19 and I mentioned in the copy that it would be easier when she was older and also pointed out that she used to be a 11 and 5 and a baby and these kids (us… all of us) are born with these charts and some of them are extreme.

In looking for the 10th chart for the class I was staring at the chart of a 4 year old and thinking about this kid carrying this chart up against the wishes, hopes and dreams of his parents. This boggled my mind so I came here to write about something I’ve been incubating for days now.

The difficult life of a Sun Saturn child…
This is from 2007. My son was 8 at the time (his first Saturn square) and my family was struggline.

One of the reasons I fight these issues around, Vid is I think the quality of his life depends on it. I am pretty sure he agrees with me although this is still very harsh in practice.

Vid has his Sun conjunct Saturn. This means he has to earn his self esteem. I think this is true for all but certainly true for Sun conjunct Saturn.

My son, Vidroid is a year ahead in school. He was once rejected for being 7 so took to lying about his age when he was 8. He lied for two years.

While I don’t approve, I do understand and our family was in such crisis at the time I knew he was just trying to deal with his problems. My son has phenomenal character so I supported his lie when necessary. For example, I called his teacher on this birthday to make sure when they sang to him in class, the sang the wrong age. This year he switched schools.

Today we went out to get something special for Vid’s girl he likes. This is his gal pal from 1st and 2nd grade. The soldier teases his about Belle all the times… says he needs a t-shirt that says I HEART BELLE in pictures. You know. I picture of and eye, a picture of a heart and a picture of a bell. Vid snorts… pays him no mind. It’s Melanie who has his heart now so we went shopping for the girl.

And here’s a strange thing but I think it’s happy. Long term readers know I sprung a therapist on my son at the peak of my daughter’s illness. Under relentless strain trying to care for my daughter I knew my son was falling through the cracks so I contacted the school counselor and asked her to help.

She agreed, called him into her office and boy was he mad at me! He didn’t a counselor, see? He didn’t make the decision and long story short it was a big mistake and now two years have passed.
