Violence And Self Defense

April 20th, 2011 @ 6:30 am by Elsa

Astrology in real life.

Last night my son and I were mulling around the house, chatting. His birthday is coming up and I see a lot of changes taking place as he’s maturing. We heard a noise that stopped up dead in our tracks.

“I’ll take care of this,” I said, looking him right in the eye to calm him. He nodded and I went to my gun.

How Do You React Or Defend Yourself When Injured?

April 12th, 2011 @ 6:10 am by Elsa

Astrology in real life

scorpionI came across this from 2008 while searching for something else. It was a really good question and worth a re-hash.  My life has improved considerably and dramatically since 2008 but this was all true at the time. When you’re up to your ears in pain, you don’t want more pain.

Amber writes:

“I am interested in your “pull the plug’ strategy. Reading over the years it seems that it’s a strategy that you have used (have had to use) more than once, sometimes with more drastic results than others. (In fact in a mild case you used it on me – I wrote you an email in which a joke I made was offensive, and you unsubscribed from my blog without telling me I had offended you! I had no idea!). I do not think I would be capable of leaving a situation without explanation. I do leave situations in a “no looking back’ manner, but only after outlining why. I need to communicate. I was wondering, is it energy conservation- or is there another reason why you pull the plug so abruptly?”

Defending Your Home And Family: MARS and the Moon by Satori

July 10th, 2010 @ 5:18 pm by Satori

“five minutes can be waaaaaay too long, often enough, to wait for help.”
-Eris

Self-defense and home-defense are frequent topics here on the blog and on the boards. Recently such a thread was revived, Defending Your Home and Family, and I was actually surprised at the poll results, with 88% in favor of defending oneself and home.

I’ve been in the position of having to make that call. In the middle of the night a man kicked in my door. I heard the preliminary kicking, dialed 911 and dropped the phone. I pulled my bat from under the bed and ran to meet him in the living room where I brought the bat down on his knife-wielding arm.

self defenseThis is from 2008. It was a follow up to this piece: Armed and Dangerous – Shoot To Kill. Forget the peanut gallery. You too can be armed and dangerous…

shadowRegarding the 6 year old hero who fought off her rapist or whatever happened (there is no link to the story)…. I wanted to make another point. I have already made it but I want to make it again.

If you’re 6, and you’re effective then I guess that is fine because you are cute and you make a good story. But if you are 35 and effective this is a different story.

Because now and then a rapist does pick the wrong gal to victimize. Like the gal I heard of when I took a self defense class. She had some training so with the intruder on top her, she reached down, grabbed one his balls and squeezed hard enough to pop it which cause egregious injury to a man. And that guy did not die but let’s say he did.

That would make her a women who had a man die in her bed! And can you see how everyone would take a step back?

2 women, equivalent in all ways. One of them has had a rapist die in her bed, the other has not. Who do you think the man is going to ask out? Can you see how the first gal might have fared better accepting the rape? She’s now marked.

The point here is you cannot win. If you are the type that carries the shadow then you are going to carry the shadow. Because let’s go back to the first gal and let’s say she did NOT pop the guy’s testicle. In that scenario it sounds like this:

“I don’t know why she didn’t pop that guy’s nut. She had a self defense class and she knew what to do. There was this 6 year old I heard of and even she knew better than to blah, blah, blah.”

And it’s back to Elvis Costello… “Nobodies fault, but we need somebody to burn…”

Who in your life wears your shadow?
