Posting to thank everyone for their comments on Talking Into A Fan Redux. I am actually making some progress through the mental mud that is Saturn in Virgo and last night the astrology on this popped in.

If you are a Capricorn rising as I am (or Aquarius rising), you can set your clock via Saturn’s transit ’round your chart.  Having established my home base when Saturn transited my 4th house, I started writing when it hit my 5th.  In effect, I defined my creativity at that time and when Saturn hit my 6th, I had edit.

First thing to say is this is not my idea. I got it our of Caroline Casey’s book, Making the Gods Work for You: The Astrological Language of the Psyche which is an excellent book for inspired, ethereal or Jupiter types. While the title of the book implies “control”, her premise is not like this. She offers very good (and innovative) ideas around aligning with the various energies. It’s a book full of stuff you’ll not find anywhere else.

In the case of Saturn or Saturn transits, she suggests anyone feeling oppressed consider lifting weights. The idea is to push back against what is weighing you down. She points quite correctly the worst that can happen if you lift weights during a Saturn transit is you’ll wind up stronger but fact is if you actually do this you are apt to wind up with a variety of benefits… for example, your body looks and feels grand and exercise wards off depression that is characteristic of Saturn transits.

Saturn transits age and depress you one way or the other.  There is always a reality check involved not that this is a negative thing because everyone knows how ridiculous a woman in her 40′s looks when dressed like a teenager. A reality check when it comes to her is a gift from God. The soldier and I both have Saturn transits underway and I thought I ought to start chronicling this… for a myriad of reasons.

Dear Wife,

I feel very sorry for you and wish I had some magic remedy but I think you’ve got this situation figured correctly except for the idea this other woman is your husband’s true love. She may be, but it is more likely they are making you (and her husband) pay – and I mean pay in spades – for your affair.

In fact, the chances are if you were to pull out and walk away, their relationship would crumple as it would have outlived its usefulness, which is to punish you for as long as you allow.

Now this does not excuse you. You are absolutely culpable for the state of your marriage however I see no reason to berate you because you have already been and continue to be punished by the universe, the powers that be or whatever you want to call it, by this little thing called, “reality”.

Reality is a Saturn concept and with Saturn in Virgo set to transit your Venus in Gemini and Moon Jupiter in Pisces you can expect to become more and more aware of reality over the next year which will be a curse… and a gift.

A gift because you state you are falling apart. Well, you will not be allowed to fall apart during a Saturn transit. You will be pressured to act as an adult and take responsibility for your emotions, your beliefs and your actions in relationships which is exactly what you are doing. And that’s it. From here you just keep doing what you are doing – doing the right thing while letting your faith support you.

You have an innate knowing that things turn out for the best, so keep that in mind. Hold that perspective as you go through this process, which does look to be grueling and protracted – but hey. Is there any other way? There is not, and one more thing:

On your friends telling you to leave, never mind them. You will leave when and if you leave on your own terms, under your own conditions and on your own timetable. This is another Saturn lesson, see? Boundaries. I get so sick of people telling other people what to do. They don’t have to live with the result, you do. So make your own decision and take your time to do this because when Saturn is around, slow and careful beats impulsive action every time.

Dear Father,

You are a double Gemini and having a Saturn transit which will pressure you to do the right thing. The right thing is to take responsibility for your children in spite of more childish impulses. It seems you have figured this out so now what?

Well you can’t be in three countries at once and you probably can’t be with either of these women, however you can support them because look here: They are raising your babies for you and this is no small favor.

So that’s what you do. I don’t care what happened. I don’t care what he said, she said or who did what. You have two children that other people are taking care of and if you begin to pitch in, you will begin to feel strong rather than weak. Here is how:

Write or call the mothers of your kids and ask them, “How can I help you?” And listen to what they say. Say things like this: “I want to help you with the baby… I want to know my child, I care about my baby and I care about you and I care that you have assumed all the burden for this child we made together.”

And not things like this, “Well it’s your fault! If you’ve not have done blah, blah, blah…”

Do this. Grow up and do the right thing to the best of your ability and you will be feeling much better a couple years down the road when Saturn winds up this transit. Don’t do this and you will feel shame. And pain.

Wouldn’t it be better to try to heal this? I think so. And give the women time. It is very hard to care for a child alone. They are probably very angry but if you are consistent and sincere… well this is all the universe wants, you know? And one more thing.

With a Leo rising and a 10th house Sun, you are a natural father and I don’t think you can deny it. Bottom line, your kids need to know they have a father somewhere in this world… someone they can point to and say, “That’s my dad.” You’re him so for Godsakes, stand up.

Dear Retired,

I am sorry you are hurting and I wish I had better news. I think things will get worse before they get better, but there are still some things you can do. For one, adjust your sights.

You’re heading into a Saturn transit which will be hanging around until mid-2008. Depression is common during Saturn transits but it is something that will run its course – like winter. And if frame it this way it may help you to deal. This is a season not the rest of your life and it will end.

It is also common to reflect on your life and to come up with things you feel you could have or should have done differently… but don’t stop there. Use these things to motivate yourself towards positive change.

So with this model, you are now slugging through the snow in winter, thinking… why did I create these circumstances? But if you keep yourself moving and moving though, you will eventually be moving away – albeit with some hard lessons learned.

I think the volunteering is a good shot. You’re a Pisces with Venus in Pisces and for you it is “serve or suffer”. And on your marriage, time will tell. You have Pluto transiting Venus (relationship) and it may end. If this happens, you can be sure it is for the best so the bottom line is this:

You are going to be in very rough water for the next year, so you do what you need to do. You may need an anti-depressant for example but if you do, don’t worry about it. It will be short term. This may be prolonged but it going to pass.

Dear Man,

Well you’re right on schedule. You have Saturn in Pisces at 0 degrees, about to be opposed by Saturn in at 0 degrees Virgo in September – and here you are taking a look at the structure and the reality (Saturn) of how you are living in relation to your age. The point is to take stock and make corrections as needed and in this case it seems a correction is going to be necessary. Because bottom line, you want to grow up and she (probably quite rightly) does not!

So there are issues of control (Saturn) here, in that you want her to her to conform and show up for your relationship… as if it were a job? I’m not saying it’s like this but I would not be surprised if she thinks it’s like this and you start to get the idea here.

It seems this gal likes you just fine. She likes to dance anyway. But as far as settling down, this is obviously is not her priority and I don’t think that’s likely to change.

I don’t think it’s likely to change because people rarely get more enthusiastic over their partner in year 3 or 4 than they were in year 1. Also, as people settle into relationship they become more “themselves” not less, and it seems this gal is and wants to be a free bird.

So this leaves you with reality. You have a girlfriend who has limits and those limits are very likely to constrict not expand. How you weigh this and what you do about it is going to be up to you.
