My husband informed me today, he was going to raise me from a 2 to a 3 on the scale he uses to rate everything in his life by the degree of it’s difficulty.  If something is incredibly arduous, it rates a five. If it is easy,  it rates a 1. I was going up on his scale due something smart-ass I said.

“I need a counter-scale as well,” he explained. “On that scale, I rate the satisfaction of the endeavor. For example, Special Forces was a five for difficulty but it was also a five for satisfaction…” He said that truck-driving was a 4 or 5 for difficulty but only rated a 1 for satisfaction.

“Failure does not strike like a bolt from the blue; it develops gradually according to it’s own logic. As we watch individuals attempt to solve problems, we will see that complicated situations seem to elicit habits of thought that set failure in motion from the beginning…”

The soldier wrote this as part of a larger piece and it struck me. Is it really possible to predict failure lonnnnnnng before it occurs? I’d say, yes.

How often do you set yourself up to fail?

The Soldier has his Saturn (restriction, oppression, control, etc.) in aspect to my Mars Mercury (communication) which makes it enormously difficult if not impossible for me to transfer information about certain things. It’s incredibly frustrating on my end. It’s like the plague.

And you can see the imagery in this. It is like hitting my head against a rock and it’s not even the rock’s fault! There are things I am afraid to tell him (Saturn). There are things that are hard to tell him (Saturn).
