We watched, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc over the weekend. Joan of Arc is the soldier’s patron saint. Apparently this was a strange choice of saint for a young machismo type boy but he said you’re supposed to pray and meditate on it which is what he did and she is who came to him.

He didn’t know anything about her at the time but has since read virtually everything ever written and when he makes a claim of this sort you can believe he’s not kidding.

We liked the movie a lot. It was tremendously moving but my favorite part was this comment he made…

“Yeah, I know,” I told the soldier who claims many, many past lives where he is always a soldier, never anything but. “You showed me you nose in bathtub,” I said. “I see your Roman nose. I see that you look like a Roman soldier / Rhino.”

“Yep, can’t help it, P. That’s what I am.”

“I think it’s funny you’ve got 3 times as much Arab in you as Italian but you do definitely look Roman.”

“That’s right. And I don’t have time for any of those Gladatorial bastards either.”

“Gladiators, P! They fought in the coliseum. But not me. I’m not doing that. I’m going to fight a WAR!”

“You and your nose.”

“Yep. Me and this schnoz here, P. We aren’t wasting time in no coliseum. Straight to war! Get me to a war and get me there now!”

“Yeah, I was in first grade and managed to get myself kicked out of school,” the soldier said.  “This was back when 75 cents was a big deal. You had to save up for that kind of money so that’s what I did and there was this girl I liked, she went to my school.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah and I wanted to kiss her so I saved my money and then I took this quarter to school and I told that girl I’d give her the quarter if I could kiss her.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah the teacher, Mrs WEIN-STEIN told my mother I danced to the beat of a different drummer and I got in a lot of trouble for that. I don’t know what the hell was wrong with me, I couldn’t figure out what was going on. For example, when I was in second grade I was in a play. The play was Little Red Riding Hood,” he said in Spanish. “And I played the hunter that was supposed to run around and hunt the wolf.”

Yesterday the weather was nice here today and the soldier and I were thinking about taking a break from room cleaning to run out and do some errands.

“If we leave now we can probably get everything done and get back before Vidroid gets home,” I said.

“Okay, then I guess I better put on my boots,” he said.

“Boots? It’s awfully warm outside for boots. Don’t you have some sandals?” I asked.

He just looked at me.

“You don’t have a pair of sandals?”

“No, I just wear my boots.”

“Well when is the last time you had a pair of sandals?” I asked.

“When I was a Roman soldier?” he asked as if he were trying to figure it out himself. “Yeah, when I was a Roman soldier I probably had a pair.”

He is always a man and always a soldier – he knows exactly who he is. He does not know who I am but is pretty confident we have never met before and thinks I am pretty new (but does not know this for sure).

He says he has never been loved before in any of his lives and is amazed someone loves him this life and he is not sure why this came about. It is and was unexpected and his only thought on this is that perhaps he has finally paid enough of his dues. Prior to this life he did not think this possible and overall it is a puzzle to him why this would occur.

The soldier has his north node in Libra in the 7th. With Aries south node in the first… well he is very good at being a soldier. He claims he has been at it for many, many lifetimes and his claim is credible so what’s it going to take to move him towards evolution?

Well my Mars Mercury conjunct lands on his node and what do I do? I constantly yell about manners and being civil, which I admit is ironic since my yelling is beyond merely RUDE. However he is a soldier and he thinks yelling is a fine way to train men.

“Great. It’s a date. Will you wear puffed sleeves?” he asked, referencing Anne of Green Gables.

“Sure.”

“Okay. I am going to have to really work at this though.” the soldier said. “I will have to get over my rhinoceros-ness.”

“Really?”

“Well yeah. You have to glide around. You have to be graceful. I’m not graceful.”

Libra, I thought. “Oh!,” I said. “Yeah, we really should do this. It’s Libra… your north node. You are supposed to be learning all these things, love and grace and relationships,” I said. “I have told you about this. We should definitely take lessons, it’s the right direction for you.”
