hanged-man-invertedWell, heck. We’ve been talking about seeing doom around every corner, dealing with heartbreak, and moving on. Notice the trend here? Addressing difficult situations is evidently on the menu and we’re not quite done with the topic, says Tarot. Ignore what Tarot says at your own peril, says Dixie. Ha!

It’s not so bad, though, really. Because if you know how to weather the storms, you are set in inclement weather and sunshine alike. You have the tools, the strength, and the insight on hand, readily available to handle whatever life tosses your way. And that’s a good thing.

Dixie’s Daily Tarot, September 7, 2010: Making Peace With Uncertainty

September 7th, 2010 @ 5:03 am by Dixie

Astrology Meets Tarot

IMG_0074Some things we can control, and some we cannot. Learning to discern the difference (and act–or not, accordingly) will leave you a much happier person.

Today’s Tarot is The Hanged Man, number XII of the major arcana, coming in inverted. This is a Neptunian card and is generally taken to mean surrender, transcendence—a time where all action is suspended, promoting reflection that allows you insight; let go of preconceived notions and attachments, instead allowing for life to unfold as it will. It’s important to remember this card points to a temporary situation; also note the Hanged Man is neither struggling nor resigned: he’s at peace.

may 4th squareWhen I was 23 I lived in a crappy little rental house with my then boyfriend. He was also a Libra in case you were wondering. Yes, we were two little Libras happily co-habitating until his mother came to visit. Don’t get me wrong, she was an awesome lady. We got along smashingly at first. It was the day she noticed someone left a light on in the closet and discovered our makeshift grow room that everything changed. So that’s what that smell was! We only had eight plants but I guess that was enough to boggle the mind of a little 65 year old Chinese lady. She went berserk. At first she blamed me, then she blamed the town we lived in, then she blamed rap music. I should mention this was not the first time that her son had attempted to grow marijuana, he was what you would call a hobby horticulturalist.

Getting “Closure” Is Impossible? An Outsider Perspective

August 12th, 2010 @ 5:40 am by Elsa

Astrology in real life

closure.jpg“I don’t know what closure is,” my husband said. “Who gets closure? You almost never get closure. If you do get closure then fine but I’d not looking for it. I’m going to try to get some closure. The concept makes no sense. I don’t know who comes up with this stuff…”.

As a Venus Neptune type, I know exactly what he means. Nothing ever ends. There is no way to close anything because you never know when a person is going to pop up in real life, your thoughts, your dreams, in conversation, in a poem, in a song…

I’d never heard this stated so plainly and thought it was a boon so I’m sharing the bounty. It seems that looking for “closure” is aka wasting your time so I am done with that as of today.

Dixie’s Daily Tarot, July 29, 2010: Creative Feedback

Astrology Meets Tarot

acewandsI’ve been talking to a lot of people lately about creativity. It’s coming up frequently in readings. In some ways, this surprises me. We have a fairly intense sky, and have had for a while. So at first blush. I think people must be focusing on basic needs, survival, and taking care of business. What needs to be done, you know? Thinking about it a little more, though. It occurs to me that creativity is a wonderful coping mechanism for intense emotions and challenging experiences. But it’s not always straightforward, the act of creation. It takes courage–especially doing it in front of other people. Continue reading Dixie’s Daily Tarot, July 29, 2010: Creative Feedback

desertFrom 2008, I was talking to satori about how the computer guys were condescending around my crashed hard drive.

“Maybe it’s my age,” I said. “It’s as if I couldn’t possibly have any data on my computer that would be important to save.”

She said computer guys always treated her very well.

“Well that’s because you look hip,” I said. “I don’t look hip, I’m from the desert. You know that picture where I’m standing in my bare feet, middle of nowhere?”

page-cups

Trying to focus on to-do lists and completing tasks, my attention keeps drifting. I try to bear down in the name of efficiency, but it’s not getting me far. What “needs to be done” is of so much less interest than dreaming and exploring and playing. The Page of Cups agrees.

Pages are young and playful. The position of page itself is considered Earth energy, like a seed, so you’ll often see pages at the very beginning of physical manifestation within their realm. The Page of Cups is frequently seen at the beginning of love affairs, during that intoxicating, dreamy stage where the bond feels both magical and not quite real. Pages hold promise en route to fulfillment.

Neptune Overload For Elsa P

March 2nd, 2010 @ 2:40 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

Last night a pal who reads the blog called and told me her impression of my recent writing. I was shocked.  Her impression of my output was 180 degrees from reality as to how I feel right now.

Today the disparity is even greater and I realized transiting Neptune is hitting my chart hard, never mind all the Pisces which also has my entire chart engaged.

1 Minute Astrology – Neptune And Projection: Hey Psst! Did You Hear The One Where I’m An Alcoholic?

February 4th, 2010 @ 10:13 am by Elsa

Neptune on the midheaven – God help me!

This is from January of 2008, part of my Saturn Pluto crush! As far as I know these people still believe me to be an alcoholic in denial. Fact is, I can smell a glass of wine and get tipsy. Such is the sensitivities of Neptune. I updated this in late 2009 (below). There has been no change since…

If you ever want to discredit someone…

Archetypal Astro-twins by satori

“So just sit right down, relax, open your ears real wide and say, ‘Give it to me straight, Doctor, I can take it!’ oh I almost forgot, fellow babies… booooooooooooger!”
–Dr. Johnny Fever, WKRP in Cincinnati

In adolescence young people look around and begin to identify with people outside themselves and their families, often incorporating others’ traits. Celebrities and characters in all types of media are ripe for these associations and are seen as archetypes, the personification of universal ideals. Identifying with archetypes is a way of making the universal personal, of saying, “this is me,” both to yourself and the world.

When I was a kid, Dr. Johnny Fever was a character on WKRP in Cincinnati, a popular tv show. I was so very drawn to him; I thought he was sooo coool that I wanted to dress like him, be smooooth like him. As an adult I look at the character and laugh at the fact I wanted to be like a middle-aged, scruffy slacker. But I did, so WHY?
