There is only person in this world who I think truly understands the way my mind works and it is my sister, Annalisa. This is because she grew up with me. We shared a bedroom. We have the same parents and if you took any one of those things out of the equation, I think she’d miss the boat too.
Last night, for the hell of it and because Saturn is transiting my Mercury, I decided (Libra) to disclose my motives for writing something in my blog. “I am up to a number of things,” I explained with a nervous chuckle. denamaria chuckled back at me so I snorted. “Yeah, well I can’t help myself. I just can’t help but do it,” I said.
I rattled off a quick list why I wrote the post in question, starting with my true, high-minded goals and ending with my slithering-on-it’s-belly, criminal mind’s end of the deal. I mentioned some mid-range stuff that was no less important feeling both hapless, proud and somewhat embarrassed.

Saturn Transit To Natal Mercury: Hard Thinking And Mental Tasks
Astrology in real life
Some things are very difficult to figure out but if you can manage the rewards are many. I am trying to figure out a number of things right now. In fact I could list five of them right off the top of my head. I have Saturn transiting Mercury right now so thinking is hard but seems necessary, worth the investment, etc. With Saturn, you really have to push through resistance or be thwarted if not crushed.
My mental tasks range from the mundane to the sublime. For example, I have work towards a solution around the Astro Dispatch which has become unwieldy and crashes this blog, constantly. There is no pleasure in this. Once we have a solution defined it will have to be put into place and there is no telling what that will require outside of I know it will be a lot of work.

Retrograde Venus plus Retrograde Mercury in the 12th House equals “Stop Texting Me!”
Real Conversation
“Look at this composite chart between me and this dude.”
“I’m not at my computer.”
“Oh… … …”
“Dammit, ok, hold on…”

I’ve read accounts of Mercury in Libra as nicey-nice wafflers who want nothing more than to smooth out arguments and keep the peace. Â I’m going to have to disagree.
If Mercury in Libra tries to mediate your argument it has nothing to do with wanting everyone to get along.  No, this Mercury is thinking “Hot damn, a debate! How can I get in on the disagreeing without taking a side that’s already taken…I know…I’ll disagree with the argument itself.”  See, making peace is an opposing reaction to the whole thing.  Trust me, as soon as everyone is all settled down, guess who’s gonna pop up with something polarizing like  ”How ’bout those gun laws?”

Mercury Things And An Update On My Oldest Sister
Astrology in real life
I got a note (snail mail) from my oldest sister today, it was a trip. What else would contact from a double Sadge with Mercury in Sadge be but a TRIP?
But it was a time travel thing because her handwriting has not changed since I was 11 which was how old I was when she left home. She used to have pen-pals which is interesting in hindsight.
Now we write to people around the world. Back then to write a stranger in another state was not that usual, especially for kids isolated in the desert but my sister maintained relationships with several pen pals for years.
I recognized her writing and realized my lack on this front. I mentioned it to satori who said she also had very distinctive writing.

Mercury in Capricorn hoards knowledge. This is different from Gemini who gathers facts for the fun of it or Virgo who catalogs information because they’re awake. Mercury in Capricorn needs the security of knowing they have the right answer if called upon in class.
Facts are more interesting than fiction to these people. Their personal libraries usually have more history books than any other subject. If you lend this person a book, it may be a while before you get it back. There is a tendency to stop and memorize whole passages deemed significant. Engage in discourse with your Mercury in Capricorn friend and keep a tally of the quotes they whip out to supplement their arguments. Also note the authoritative tone with which they are delivered. If you have the tenacity to continue arguing, they will simply sigh at you.

Strong Natal Mercury = Prominent Hands (And A Scorpio Interlude)
Astrology in real life
Some people notice hands, I know I do. It’s one of the first things I look at on a man. “Do I want those hands on me or not?”
Anyone who has Mercury emphasized is going to have prominent hands, or hands that grab you attention. My friend Ben also notices hands and my ex-perennial boyfriend, Scott has extremely prominent hands.
Scott has Mercury conjunct Uranus (brilliant) square Jupiter (expanded and arrogant). His hands are enormous which is very important if you want to be a pianist.

This is for Carrie.
Mercury in Pisces is a switch board. They are receivers. Â They will appear to be having that conversation with you (compare to Mercury in Scorpio) but really they are just feeding you whatever psychic stream they are tuned to at the moment. Â
Sometimes its the frenetic chatter of a lost soul trying to get someones - anyones – attention.  Other times its the low resounding Aum of the universe.  There is a tendency to suddenly drop out of conversation, especially if you drive under an overpass.

I’ve been called lots of things, but if pressed to make a top five you would see succinct, pithy, laconic, the occasional terse. One smart ass decided I was breviloquent even.
These are all expressions of my Mercury in Scorpio. Â I’m going to skip a bunch of the usual crap about how Mercury in Scorpio is probing, how thier words have the power to hurt or heal, how they have a mind for occult subjects and solving mysteries…blah, blah, blah and get to my point. Mercury in Scorpio doesn’t particularly want to talk to you.

Astrology and Email: Mercury in the Birth Chart
Ask the collective…
Hair, Renaud and Ramsay (2007) did a study and came up with three types of emailers:
1. The relaxed emailer. If you fall into this category then chances are you see email as something you will deal with as and when you have time. You don’t try to respond to emails almost instantaneously. You expect others to be relaxed about email as well.
2. The driven emailer. For you email must be replied to immediately. You see it as more like an ongoing conversation. Responding quickly is important for you.
3. The stressed emailer. For you email is just a source of stress and you don’t see it as that useful. You feel the pressure to respond.
