Pisces Mercury: The Fog And Its Cat Feet
“I’ve written some poetry I don’t understand myself.”
-Carl Sandburg
My Mercury is in Pisces, ruled by Neptune. Mercury is the mind, the communication, the metaphorical Voice. Neptune obscures, some say it lies, but they’re pretty lies, lies the teller believes even if only for the moment. When I talk, I must not know what I sound like as I’m always surprised to hear my own recorded voice. I sound like a stranger, or my mother, and I try not to think about which bothers me more.

Mercury Retro: Rehashing Communications
“Discombobulation is sweepin’ the nation!”
–Mojo Nixon
Mercury is communications but it is also the senses. In apparent retrograde motion it moves “backward” against the zodiac over ground it has recently covered. It hits the same places in your chart that it hit previously and you have a chance to experience this same degree transit, but in a different way. For one thing, the other planets are in a different position than they were in Mercury’s forward pass, for another, it’s a second exposure and you retain the experience of the first. It’s like re-reading a book: you experience it differently the second time around.

Pisces Mercury And The 12th House
“Where are you working?” “The Center for Sound Hearing.” “What?” “The Center for… you bastard.”
–Why I Quit My First Real Job
I had a lousy sleep last night. I was awoken several times by loud, sharp noises that I’m pretty sure didn’t actually occur in reality. Then this morning I yelled at the kids to “cut it out, I’m sleeping here!” only the kids weren’t being noisy, not overly so. Even with a pillow over my head it’s like my hearing was so acute I could hear the grass grow. After a cup of coffee I realized, ahhhhh, retrograde Mercury is going back over my ascendent into my 12th.

Pisces Mercury Sense Of Humor: “Uterus In Aries”
“I wanna rock and roll all night… and part of every day.”
–One of My Friends, misheard lyrics
I saw that as a topic on the boards and thought, “ah yes, I have Uterus in Capricorn,” with a corresponding “tee hee.” Of course, that wasn’t what it actually said. Whenever you have Neptune involved with your senses (Mercury) perception can be a little foggy. There are a lot of components to humor, but I think that Mercury placement is a part of that. I have Pisces Mercury and I tend to misperceive things initially in a way I find personally hilarious. My Mercury is pretty well-supported so it’s just a moment of snortishness, nothing debilitating. My Capricorn Moon in sextile immediately pokes me, “something about that doesn’t feel right; look again.”

Mercury Aspecting The Sun And Moon: My Possibly Sentient Wireless Router by Satori
“Never anthropomorphize animals; they hate that.”
–Louise Pohle
My wireless router has been behaving abominably. I ordered a new one last week and it just came in today’s mail. I haven’t been able to get online for more than five consecutive minutes without restarting the router and even then it’s been slow. There’s a brand new shiny router in the house now, not hooked up, and what do you think is happening? The old router is operating at peak levels unseen in months. Its like it KNOWS its replacement is on deck and it’s performing its little heart out.
Clearly I have no idea why this would be, but what is interesting to me is my own tendency to ascribe to it human motivations and emotions, even an ego. I have Pisces (universal) sun (life, ego) conjunct Mercury (communications devices) in the 7th house (projection) aspecting the moon (feelings) and Uranus (technology). I tend to do this with things in general anyway. When I was a kid I didn’t want to throw anything away in an empty trash can as it might be lonely. I’d wait till I had two things so they had company. I hope you’re not as crazy as I am.
Do you anthropomorphize non-human entities? Can you pinpoint the astrology? I ask because my cat is curious.
Neptune And Saturn: Trust But Verify by Satori
“I try to keep an open mind but not so open that my brain falls out.”
–Judge Harry, Night Court
I took the kids to the movies Sunday. There weren’t a lot of other people in the theater, and most of them came in after the previews started. Before the lights came back up I decided to give myself an exercise in memory and perception. Without looking around I made mental notes of how many groups, how many in each and the genders and ages I suspected. I’ve been thinking a lot about Mercury placement and the senses lately. With Mercury in Pisces I figured I’d be pretty good at subconscious memory if I really let it flow.

Mercury in Pisces: Musical Thinking by Satori
“Oh, where do you go when you don’t want no one to know?”
–Cat Stevens
Saturday night I watched Frida, Salma Hayek’s movie about the life of Frida Kahlo. Ever since I’ve had a song from the movie, Alcoba Azul, playing in the background of my mind. Today it’s interspersed with Cat Stevens’ song Tuesday’s Dead. With Pisces Mercury this is a normal occurrence for me and I don’t usually find it bothersome. Music (Neptune) flavors my thinking (Mercury). My Mercury is in the 7th house so I like to communicate this to the other. I’ll post a video to a friend’s facebook page or sing to my partner.
Where is your Mercury? Can you relate this to the flavor of your thinking?
This is for Carrie.
Mercury in Pisces is a switch board. They are receivers. Â They will appear to be having that conversation with you (compare to Mercury in Scorpio) but really they are just feeding you whatever psychic stream they are tuned to at the moment. Â
Sometimes its the frenetic chatter of a lost soul trying to get someones - anyones – attention.  Other times its the low resounding Aum of the universe.  There is a tendency to suddenly drop out of conversation, especially if you drive under an overpass.

Defending Denial: Is It Really Such A Dirty Word? The Opposition Between Virgo and Pisces In Astrology
Astrology in real life
I love this topic. Denial is one of those things that has a bad rap. No one is ever supposed to be in denial even though we all are at various times about various things for various very important reasons.
This goes along with the discussion a couple days ago about coping in crisis. I have found you are often better off not knowing it all as “all” when there is so much going on because if you could did it would overwhelm the psyche.
As an example, I have recently come through intense crisis. And apparently I gained some weight in the midst of this but lucky for me I did not know it. Everyone else knew it but I blurred it out because I just could not cope with even one more thing at the time. As things eased, I was able to see myself in the mirror and get back on track but boy am I grateful this was not shoved in my face at the time.
This subject is relevant now with Mercury (logic) in Pisces, a sign accused of denial but “denial” with the judgment taken out might be called, faith in God or faith in the universe which so many recommend. Because if it belongs in your lap it will surely wind up there eventually so here is this story about the soldier again, this time with a footnote below…
Eventually the soldier found out unequivocally that his wife was cheating on him and he divorced her immediately as he always said he would. “If I were to find out for sure… but I was never sure.” Had he faced this earlier his life would have been different for sure but who says it would have been better? And what about his son? The soldier’s son grew up with 2 parents courtesy the soldier’s denial. Does Saturn in Virgo want to judge that?
Faith And The Flow Of Information… Virgo And Pisces, Mercury In Pisces, Mercury In The 12th…
Astrology in real life…
Mercury (information) is in Pisces (faith) at the moment and the soldier and I were discussing how things get communicated. Turns out we both agree it is often in your best interest to not go out looking for information.
For example, I have all this court stuff going on right now. I have meetings being scheduled left and right. There are all kinds of people in all kinds of committees making all kinds of decisions that affect my life. If I tried to track them all I would do nothing but track them all but as is, I just rely on someone to call me when my number comes up. This is very hard to do. I think human nature wants to know what is going on and the faith method does have some risks. However I think the benefits outweigh them.
“I’ve noticed if you do nothing, you do tend to find things out in time generally speaking,” I said. “One way or the other. Sometimes you find out in a dream, or in your case you may get it via your antenna (his psychic ability). One way or the other what you need to know, you do seem to find out and in plenty of time.”
“I have always felt that way,” he said.
“Yeah, especially in times of stress the last thing you need is a bunch of minutiae. I have just seen this over and over, you do find out what you need to know and always in plenty of time. I imagine we have both been spared all kinds of things living this way…”
How do you handle the flow of information? Where is Mercury in your chart?
