Big Fish In A Little Pond Syndrome: Resisting Saturn

September 9th, 2011 @ 7:29 pm by Satori

“Listen up, you little spazoids. I know where you live and I’ve seen where you sleep. I swear to everything holy that your mothers will cry when they see what I’ve done to you.”
–Michelle, Tommy Boy

fat guy in a little coat (Tommy Boy)In the movie Tommy Boy, Chris Farley plays a character who has lived an extended adolescence and faced with a crisis in his family and the family business is forced to grow up quickly. Spending years in college in a fraternity atmosphere he has become a “big fish in a little pond.” He has resisted the external pressure (Saturn) to grow up (more Saturn). Eventually he is squeezed (Saturn) out of the position that is no longer working for him.

Astrology And Judging Another’s Level Of Maturity

May 25th, 2010 @ 11:13 am by Elsa

Astrology in real life

A reader asks:

After reading your most recent Astrology for Beginners post and in light of the Saturn energy in the grand cross, I’m wondering this: How can you tell the level of someone’s maturity from their chart?

I don’t think there is any way at all to tell the level of a person’s maturity by looking at their chart. Further, I don’t think the level of a person’s maturity is static. Not through their lives or even from year to year or week to week even from day to day.

Maturity – Are The Times Changin’?

May 7th, 2008 @ 12:30 pm by Elsa

Ask the collective

capricorn smoky goatI mentioned maturity in regards to Pluto transits and I think it’s been underrated in recent times. There is an entire generation chasing youth which seems odd to someone like me who covets their age.

Jupiter through Capricorn definitely benefits anyone (of any age) who manages to conduct themselves with some degree of grace but I wonder if Pluto’s transit through Capricorn with have an even more profound affect. I think it’s likely that we as a collective (Pluto) are simply going to have to pay heed to people with substance (Capricorn) who have lived history for guidance.

And if you think about it, this is a long way from the Paris Hilton era or the Tom Cruise is God era which I do think has come to a close. All eyes on the people living large? Who has time for it?

springsteen.jpgThis came out in response to the comments on the last blog:

He played about ten songs and one of them he assigned to 2003 – Bruce Springsteen’s “She’s The One”.

I love that song, but 2003?

2003 we got in contact which ended abruptly and terrifically painfully for both of us and then he lands on this song?

truck washThe soldier called within 5 minutes to ask me if I wanted to come out and wait in the truck wash line as it can take hours to get your truck washed. He was trying to peace-make which I appreciated but I saw no sense going out there when I could not return the gesture. It seemed a better idea I maintain the space because I was working on a deep level that was productive for me.

I was thinking about what I had written on my blog about going down in a well. I was thinking how good I am at this. I have spent my whole like in a well and I was thinking I ought to go on my blog and tell people how this is best done because I do know.

Astrology Today: The Trump Cards Of The Day

January 3rd, 2008 @ 5:20 am by Elsa

My eye on the sky

saturn coinWith a stellium in Capricorn and Saturn in contact with both Venus and Uranus it seems to me that how you fare now is entirely contingent on your relationship with reality and your willingness to go the long haul.

Integrity, maturity and commitment are the cards to have now and if you lack on these fronts you can pretty much expect to be slowly and methodically brought to your knees.

fortitude:

1: strength of mind that enables a person to encounter danger or bear pain or adversity with courage
