Aries Mars vs. Scorpio Mars
“The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.”
–Ernest Hemingway (Mars in Virgo)
Which Mars is better, which Mars would win? This is a type of question that comes up not infrequently. Mars’ rulership is both Aries and Scorpio (though Scorpio is Pluto-ruled as well) so it makes for an easier comparison.

Snow Wars And Water Mars
“Love isn’t about fate and magic bracelets and destiny. It’s about finding someone you can stand to be around for 10 minutes at a time.”
–The Movie “Snow Day”
There’s a ton of snow falling in my neck of the woods. I am not a fan of shoveling, but not shoveling is not an option. When the roads are decent or he’s over here anyway, my man will help out by doing the work, but most of the time it’s left to me. I have a Scorpio Mars and I don’t go out to push snow around; I go out to kill it! With Saturn in the 8th house in aspect to Mars I will work hard at it, but I don’t care if the results are ugly, only if they’re functional. When the man shovels, with his 7th house Cancer Mars, he’s working around the home for his partner and the results are always pretty too! He brings a big janitor’s broom and sweeps up all the marks.

Mars And Pitching Fits
“She turned me into a NEWT! [pause] Well I got better.”
–Monty Python’s Holy Grail
I was recently asked if I threw things when angry. I used to, but I got over it. I got over it in one day, in fact, the day I had to clean a whole pot of spaghetti off the wall and the floor. In my young womanhood I threw steel-tipped darts, beer bottles and probably other things I don’t remember. I have Scorpio Mars in the third house (Mercury-ruled), quick and dirty action, but it aspects Saturn and I can control myself, if I choose to. To paraphrase a popular liquor ad: I may not always throw things, but when I do, I like to throw them at people’s private parts.
Do you throw things? What’s up with your Mars?
Motivating Mars Saturn
“I’ll do it because I want to, not because you tell me to.”
–Mrs. Piggle Wiggle by Betty MacDonald
I have Mars in aspect to Saturn. If you tell me to do something (Mars) my first reaction is to balk (Saturn). Before I act I have to satisfy the placement of my Saturn. My Saturn is in Aries, self interest. My Mars is in Scorpio. One expression of Scorpio Mars in aspect to Saturn can be rebellion.

Raising Your Spirits: Mars by Satori
“That guy’s being awfully forward with that donkey.”
–Jay, Clerks II
It’s an “interesting” sky out there, pre-full-moon. The moon evokes feeling. I know when I’m feeling out of sorts or just kind of off, I have a few ways to kick myself in the butt and get back on track. When I think about “boosting my spirits” what I’m really getting at is goosing my Mars, my energy. With Scorpio Mars in the third house (mercury ruled) one thing that gets me going is flippant banter (mercury) about taboo topics (poop jokes, Silence of the Lambs references, irreverence). It jump starts my Scorpio engine. It gives me a “shot in the arm” (shot/Scorpio Mars, arm/mercury).
I try to do this only with people I think can “take it.” For instance, a friend just remarked on how kind and patient her dentist was and I felt it necessary to bring up the possibility of her being groomed for illegal organ trafficking.
How do you ramp up your Mars nature, your energy? Where is your Mars?
Skeptics And Astrology: Discriminating Or Just An Asshole by Satori
He that cannot reason is a fool.
He that will not is a bigot.
He that dare not is a slave.
~Andrew Carnegie
I was waiting on my coffee at the local shop and went over to say hello to an oldish friend. “Hey, ya dirty hippy,” I said. His hair was longer than usual and in a ponytail. He’s a musician and a scientist and we know each other pretty well. Eventually he asked what was new with me and I brought up some of the new happenings here on the blog. Then he said, “Well it’s just for entertainment value, right? You’re not prognosticating or anything?” with a deprecating snort.

Dixie’s Daily Tarot, September 23, 2010: Reason or Rationalization?
Astrology Meets Tarot
Knowing what makes sense and doing what makes sense are two entirely different animals. Particularly venues of the heart, being able to lay the facts out clearly doesn’t guarantee an accurate assessment. Much of the time, there’s tendency to act on emotions and collect reasoning to support the decision after the fact.
Hello, Dixie. Meet rationalization.

Dixie’s Daily Tarot, September 21, 2010: Magic Houses
Astrology Meets Tarot
First married, my husband and I shared a teeny, two-bedroom place with three kids. It was way too small for us, but we made it work while arranging to get a bigger place. We often talked of how utterly perfect everything was going to be, once we moved. So perfect, in fact, we took to half-jokingly referring to our new home as the “Magic House.” You know. Because it will magically make everything perfect!

Transits And A Wounded Scorpio Mars by Satori
“I don’t deserve any credit for turning the other cheek as my tongue is always in it.”
–Flannery O’Connor
Before I go off on a huge tangent I’m going to give you my point up front. With any luck it will loop back around and make sense. Transiting planets provide a certain energy. How that energy interacts with your personal chart is specific but by no means accurately predictable to any specific degree.
Sunday when Mercury was deep into its retrograde, several planets aspected my third house (Mercury/communication) Scorpio Mars, as well as my Saturn and Chiron. You’d expect limitation (Saturn) and an activation of my wounding (Chiron) in regard to communicating and my drive (Mars), and in hindsight you would be right. I decided to keep my damned mouth shut about things that were bothering me in my private life. Obviously it wasn’t the best day for me to air concerns. So I decided to bite my tongue. I meant to do this figuratively, of course, through my will, my free will, and I did.

Mars ‘Round The Zodiac: Mars In Scorpio – Read All About It!
Astrology in real life
Mars is high functioning in it’s home sign, Scorpio. People with Mars in Scorpio are stealthy and psychologically sophisticated. You’re not likely to see them coming, unless by their design. You wake up one day, screwed, blued, tattooed and that’s your first clue you’ve made an enemy.
