Astrology Short And Sweet: Italy, Italians, And Jupiter’s Sense Of Adventure
Astrology in real life…
The soldier (Jupiter in Sagittarius) talks to me (Jupiter rising) about going to Italy and fact is, it does not take much for one to talk the other into an adventure….
“When we go to Italy…”
“We’re not going to Italy,” I said. “Why are we going to Italy?”
“Yes we are going to Italy. We’ll be in Italy some day I’m sure. Why don’t you want to go to Italy?”
“Well I have just never wanted to go. I am already Italian and they don’t want to see us over there. We’re Americans! Italian people don’t think Italians who are American are Italians. They hate us!”

Who Has The Rights To A Powerful Story Redux – Jupiter In Sagittarius And Different Perspectives
Astrology in real life
I was thinking today about the Iran hostage story and Avery’s question regarding who gets to tell what story and it occurred to me that one story could be told by two (or more) people and it would be a completely different story. For example I told the story of the attempted rescue of the Iranian hostage and so did the guy who planned the whole operation in his book, James H. Colonel Kyle, The Guts To Try
Our stories of the same story are very different.
Now the soldier was on that plane that went to rescue the hostages and if he told this story it would also be different so there is no stepping on anyone’s toes here. I mean, I know Avery was talking about something else. She was talking about invading a person’s privacy but I am trying to make this other point which I have promised the soldier I’d do several times now so this is my segue.

What About The Wandering Gene? Do You Have One?
Astrology in Real Life…
“I don’t think you could survive without wandering,” I told the soldier. “I think this is part of you the same way a person’s hair grows in a certain direction.”
“Well you’re still going to love me, aren’t you, P?”
“Of course. Yes of course. In fact it occurred to me this is why you want to get that burrito. You know the burro you talk about riding around? I think you want that burro so he can wander you. You think you’re going to go blind and you know for sure you are going to get old if you don’t die so you’re going to set yourself up. Have a burro that can wander you around.” Continue reading What About The Wandering Gene? Do You Have One?
Saturn Square Mars In Synastry, Turns Out I Am Too Old To Leap!
Astrology in real life…
In synastry, when you compare charts and one person has their Saturn on the other person’s Mars, you will read that the Saturn person restricts the Mars person. This is seen as deal-breaker by many astrologers and can be very frustrating depending mostly on how flexible the Saturn person can be with their rules.
The soldier has his Saturn on my Mars and you can see the glaring evidence of this here. We get manage to get around this, but as the Mars person I can feel the crushing down on the natural physical fervor and exuberance that I feel when I see him… as I am encouraged to grow up by Saturn.
I am posting this so people can see an aspect like this is not the end of the world, particularly if the Saturn person is a “good parent”. If otherwise, Mars who gets blocked rushing in can become mad as spit and wish to kill Saturn, with a motorcycle helmet or whatever else may be on hand. Saturn of course, eats children but we do get around this all the time as this conversation illustrates. I wrote the conversation post the conflict because it is also an excellent example astrologically… Continue reading Saturn Square Mars In Synastry, Turns Out I Am Too Old To Leap!
Some People, You Just Don’t Want To Piss Them Off: Mars (Raw Male Energy) In Nature
Astrology in real life
I have this idea that if I want to tell bawdy off-color stories, I best do it while Jupiter is in Sagittarius because I am pretty sure Jupiter in Capricorn is going to restrict such things. So on that note, this is the soldier relaying a time he was a real pain… just incorrigible.
‘I’d just got in from the field and you just can’t send a man out for 9 months and expect him to come back and act normally. It takes awhile to settle down. But anyway, I’d just got back in and I was tired. And I was in this bar in my civilian clothes and here comes in (forgot the rank, but his superior). He was in civilian clothes too and he said, get out of here. I’m putting you on guard duty tonight.”
“Yeah?” (swearing below the break) Continue reading Some People, You Just Don’t Want To Piss Them Off: Mars (Raw Male Energy) In Nature
24 Years Old And Never Been Loved: Astrology-Based Advice
Dear Elsa,
I am having a bit of a crisis with what I want and with what I outwardly project. I feel like I’m a fairly happy individual, except when I think about love. You see I’ve never been in love or in a real relationship. When I was in high school, the guys never presented much of a challenge so I wasn’t interested in the whole teenage f***athons (screwing whoever you could get your hands on).
Then when I went off to college, the men that pursued me or found me attractive were men I couldn’t have a relationship with (they were off limits). I kept telling myself I was too busy to focus on relationships and school at the same time (and there were also very few men who caught my interest). Finally, I met someone that really made me want to let my guard down, sparked me intellectually, emotionally and physically. But then he moved abroad, and I died inside because I finally let someone see my vulnerabilities and in the end whole thing was just aborted, the death of a potential is the worst.
I find that men like to look at and play with pretty things, but nothing that takes time to actually figure out and put together (except if it’s an electronic appliance). And I can’t accept being played with then discarded. And now I’m in a graduate program with plenty of men. A fellow graduate student (male) says I can have any guy I want: he say I have the body, the looks, and the brains to attract anyone. But I don’t see myself the way he sees me. I feel physically awkward, socially reticent, and mentally reclusive. Add to that a strict and demanding upbringing, and I have a whole value system that I want to shrug off but I can’t.
So you see, I’m mentally promiscuous, and physically disciplined. Sex to me is not a physical act: it really comprises everything I do. All energy is sex energy to me, I was aware of this when I was a child. But I was made to feel so ashamed of it. And now I just feel like I want to die, then be stuck in this sexual vacuum. Perhaps, I’m asexual because all the women I known who are single are desperately trying to pair off and here I’m having gone through life without ever being in one and the sad thing is I could probably be writing you 5 years from now with the same complaint. I just don’t know what’s wrong with me, love seems so accessible to everyone, relationships so common, so easy to enter into and out of for everyone around me. Perhaps I’m just not meant to experience the common denominators of life: love, relationships, true intimacy. I want these things and yet they bypass me or I them and I can’t figure out whats wrong. Maybe my chart isn’t a very sexual one. Maybe I internalized sex so much, that I have physically stunted my sexuality. Perhaps I radiate a persona that repulses others and makes them want to keep their distance. Or perhaps I’m so sexually messed up, that the universe has intervened and is keeping me from entering into relationships because I lack what it takes to make it work….
Loveless
USSR
Dear Loveless,
You are awfully hard on yourself, a tendency that shows up on your chart. There is also clear validation of what other people have asserted; you can definitely attract a partner.
But I agree with you. You will absolutely be able to write this same letter in five years (and then some) if you do not make a fundamental change in the way you view both yourself and others. What you need is a new story (Jupiter) and luckily (Jupiter) you have Jupiter in Sagittarius and alternative perspectives are your stock in trade.
And if you doubt this, just re-read your post. You are nearly purely pontificating and while your sermon may be true (more Jupiter), it is disastrous to your personal life and therefore against the will of the universe as far as I am concerned.
Because rather than looking down, you could be lifting up and with a Pisces Moon supported by Jupiter in Sagittarius I think this would be a much better expression of your energy than anything that smacks of victimhood.
If you change your story, you will change your life.
Good luck.

The Soldier’s Imaginative Storytelling: Jupiter in Sagittarius
Astrology in real life
Pisces rising with ruler Jupiter in it’s own sign (Sagittarius) in it’s own house (9th) can tell a story, make no mistake.
“P, come here,” he said. “I want to show you this.” He was holding a small black case with metal trim. Sort of a small attach© case.”
“Yeah, what’s in there?”
“Open it.”
I unhooked the clasps, lifted the lid and it was full of cash. Coins, that is. “What is this?” I asked.
“That’s my treasure,” he said. “Doesn’t that look like a treasure to you? Like maybe a pirate lost it or something?” Continue reading The Soldier’s Imaginative Storytelling: Jupiter in Sagittarius
And on the Jupiter in Sagittarius Front…
Astrology in Real Life
I frequently masquerade as the soldier. He is in a situation where he can’t make the calls that keep his life running smoothly. I am in the situation where I can, so I am forever calling people up and letting them assume I am him.
I can rattle off his birthday and his phone number. I can rattle off the last four digits of his social security number and on the fact, he has a man’s name?
Well it’s the funniest thing. These days when you call the cell phone company or whatever, you are generally talking to someone in India and his name is unusual enough, they don’t recognize it as male or female. In other cases, I think people do recognize I am giving a man’s name, but they are too PC to say anything. You know. I could be having a sex change!
But today, the gal in the pharmacy was our color and she knew for sure something was up with the name. At first she tried to change the spelling to the feminine version aka Claude and Claudia but when I nixed that, well next thing I knew, I was signing some stuff about privacy. And I just thought this a Jupiter in Sagittarius phenomenon. With all of us from various cultures in closer contact then we have ever been before, things like this happen.
I also think this is the main reason astrology is gaining popularity in the West. We can thank the Indians…

Astrology As A Tool: Exploiting What Is Promised In The Natal Chart
Astrology in Real Life
Today I have to go to a major meeting at my daughter’s school. I will be meeting with eight authority figures, and I am going to have to just sit there regardless of what they say. In other words, I can exert no control over the meeting.
Because I felt I was too close to the situation to access it and because I felt confident they were the professionals I made a decision a couple months ago to put the course of her education in their hands and now I have to follow through. And they have been investigating since and will share their findings with me today in what appears to be a very formal meeting. No matter what they say, I know I will be deeply impacted, of course I have Pluto transiting my Moon so what do you expect?
But this is not about me, it is about my daughter. And one of the reasons I decided I could do this was because of her chart.
My daughter has a 9th house Moon (education) trine Jupiter in Sagittarius (major benefit, more education) and I feel very simply that her education is guaranteed. It is protected. And I admit this is a leap of faith. It is a gamble (Jupiter) but it’s calculated. And I call something like this in a chart, a “natal promise”… or “what you get for free.”
Everyone has something that comes easy to them. You can see it in their chart and you can see it in their life. It’s enormously helpful if you can identify these things because you case stop worrying about them! Use the energy for something worthwhile. So what about you?
What do you get for free?
For Comic Relief – The Soldier and the Mexicans
Astrology in Real Life…
This is how Jupiter in Sadge in concert with Venus in Gemini has a good time. The soldier and I on the phone today:
“Yeah, I was messing with these Mexican guys over there. They were helping me and I was acting like I couldn’t speak Spanish.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. They were all talking in Spanish and I was saying, thank you. Thank you very much. Grassy-ass. Grassy-ass,” he said with a snort. “And they were laughin’ their asses off. “What’s your name, they asked.”
“What did you tell them?”
“Oh, I told them when I was in Mexico they used to call me Big Cojones. Big Cojones, they said! They were all laughing. They were laughing like hell. Well that means you have big balls. They were telling you your balls are big and women like that. Women like it if you have big balls.”
I thought about his being a Taurus and roared.
‘Women like that, I asked. Oh yeah, they said. Women love big balls. And I said, you know what? You guys are a bunch of misogynists! That’s what I think. You’re all misogynists, each of you!”
“‘What’d they say?” I asked, laughing hard.
“They said, misogynists? What’s that? And I said, it’s what each of you guys are. Every single one of you is a misogynist and I didn’t know what that was either up until yesterday…”
