Transit Watch: Full Moon In Virgo – March 8, 2012 – Purity

February 27th, 2012 @ 5:30 am by Elsa

My eye on the sky.

The full Moon in Virgo takes place on March 8th at 18 degrees.  This is clean situation (no Virgo pun intended) in that the Sun and Moon oppose each other with little interference.  You can compare this to a good connection on a cell phone.

Emotions (Moon) are lit (Sun) under the full Moon.  People respond in various ways, sometimes dramatically (Sun). They talk more, they have more babies, and they go to more emergency rooms and jails.  Further,  it’s virtually the only day of month it’s permissible to howl!

I point this out because the effects of this full Moon should be easy to isolate because it’s so pure.  Look for spectacle, rooted in feeling.

The dramatic Full Moon in Leo on February 7th will be especially “interesting”.  This is because Mercury is conjunct the Sun at 18 Aquarius, the same degree as the full moon. Because Mercury is involved, expect to see the energy of the full moon come out your mouth and the mouths of others.  I’m taking about sensational speech and the like.

Full Moon Eclipse In Gemini

December 6th, 2011 @ 3:54 pm by Satori

“I don’t want to set the world on fire. I just want to start a flame in your heart.”
–The Ink Spots

moonThis Saturday, December 10th the Moon in Gemini moves into opposition with the Sun in Sagittarius at 18 degrees, a full moon. The transiting north node at 14 degrees conjunct the Sun makes this an eclipse (conjunction to either the Sun or Moon during a full or new moon). Lunar eclipses are sometimes said to herald endings, but I like the term “culmination” much better for this. With the Moon involved, feelings are highlighted. Often events happen or information comes to light that brings issues to a point where they can or need to be resolved. That’s not good or bad, it just “is.”

The full moon takes place at 22 degrees Capricorn. This is a straight-forward situation in that the Sun and Moon are unaspected though are some other things to consider.

First, determine the houses where the full moon falls in your chart (see how here). These areas will be lit up the way a room is when you turn on all the lights. Using this analogy, you see that the full moon is not inherently good or bad. Your experience is tied to how you feel about what you see when the lights go on.  If you don’t like what you see, you can change it!

Cancer/Capricorn represent the parental axis. These signs are concerned with family and security so we’re sure to see this theme play all over the place. “You’re not my daddy!”  Boundaries are also big.

How Will The Full Moon Affect You?

June 11th, 2011 @ 5:40 pm by Satori

“The moon’s the North Wind’s cookie; he bites it day by day.
Until there’s but a rim of scraps that crumble all away.”
–Vachel Lindsay

full moon cookieWednesday’s Full Moon in Sagittarius happens at 24 degrees, 23 minutes. Most beginners are savvy enough to figure out where that axis falls in their own charts. However, to fully assess the impact on you personally you can go one step further and compare the entire chart of the event with your own. The synastry between the Full Moon chart and yours will give you a more detailed picture.

The moon is full at 26 degrees Scorpio early in the morning (US) on the 17th so we’ll see affects of this particularly complex and dynamic full moon ahead the night before.

The Sun and Moon are square Neptune forming a T-square so I think some will be disillusioned with what is revealed at this time. Others will be inspired but the trick is to be inspired by your dissatisfaction.

The moon is full @ 27 degrees Libra on Sunday night.

I expect time to be super-sensitized because the Moon becomes full after spending the two days leading up to the event being absolutely battered by Saturn and the stellium in Aries.

The lights go up under a full Moon so you can compare this to an actress walking onto the stage after being beaten, stabbed, punched and kicked and pressured and preached too, three or four times on her way to the theater!

Fictional Astrology: Buffy Summers (The Vampire Slayer)

March 1st, 2011 @ 5:20 pm by Satori

“But who am I kidding? Dates are things normal girls have. Girls who have time to think about nail polish and facials. You know what I think about? Ambush tactics. Beheading. Not exactly the stuff dreams are made of.” — Buffy

Buffy the Vampire SlayerHave you ever wondered about the astrology of a fictional character? Sure they’re “made up,” but it’s not unusual for a character to be written complete with a fictional birthday. I don’t usually bother to figure that out, the author/creator’s chosen date. My musing tends to be more inductive, taking what I know of the character and ascribing planetary influences based on what I perceive. But I’ve been watching a lot of Buffy lately, too much, actually, and thought, why not? There’s got to be an actual date of birth for Buffy, considering how rabid the fan-base. And there is: the 19th of January, 1981, according to Joss Whedon, the series creator.

The full moon in Virgo on March 19, 2011, is particularly jarring and nervous and jerky.  Don’t let that scare you because it is just as possible to shake something into place as it is to shake it out. Just the same, expect some stress with this one.

Virgo likes to know things or be able to figure them out. The moon opposes the Sun in Pisces which is tightly conjunct Uranus in Aries. Two unpredictable, potentially violent fish swimming in different directions presents Virgo with a formidable puzzle.
