I didn’t get out of the ER last night until about midnight but still kept my appointment with the window salesman today which turned out to be “men” as in 2 of them. I don’t like to mess up people’s schedules, see. But they came in, started double teaming me, hard selling, calling me “Miss Elsa” and various other things that get on my nerves so I asked them to cut to the chase and give me a quote.

Dora appears to have recovered from her life threatening illness / near-death experience, we are really not sure what it was.

Fact is, her eye was BLOOD red and I mean inside the eyeball for about a month while she ran around apparently unaware.

We spent over $1000 on tests and meds only to discover nothing and we can’t even blame the veterinarian. She didn’t exactly do anything wrong, because based on appearances… well the dog looked haggard.

Dora is on to all these pills and sick of them. She is on a 2nd round of antibiotics – 10 more days of huge pills and she has become adept at unwrapping the pills from the meat and leaving the pills… wherever.

I was able to combat this for awhile by having Cluck stand nearby and feeding him chunks of meat right next to her which he would hungrily snap up, letting Dora know she better do the same or else. But I think these new pills must taste bad because as of last night nothing would work until…

We got the results of Dora’s 2nd blood test back. Her clotting is fine. The doc said that cancer in her eye or a tumor is the most likely cause of the problem. I asked if it could be caused by trauma (she walked into a door). This has been the hope but the doc said it was unlikely.

Dora is comfortable, eating normally and just in general, she is her regular Dora self so it is pretty hard to believe she is dying. She runs down the hall, bouncing like a teen. The soldier tells her not to do that because she is an old lady but she’s got no idea.

“What? You’ve got to be kidding me. You think I’m weirder than Dora?”

No response.

“No. You can’t possibly think I am weirder than that dog,” I said as I watched her move around in the back yard, queerly. “Nobody is weirder than Dora,” I added.

“Well she is weird,” he said. “Okay, maybe Dora goes first.’
