Inner Beauty And Outer Beauty: Pisces Mercury Sees Both
“For now we see through a glass, darkly.”
–1 Corinthians 13:12, King James Bible
“She’s got a great personality.” We’ve been trained to shudder at those words, as if inner beauty were not real. But it is. With Pisces Mercury in the 7th house I see it in others. In fact, I see it all the time, whether or not the person can see it in themselves. I think sometimes we’re led to believe it’s some kind of metaphor and not “real” beauty, but that’s wrong. I also have a secret I want to share.
Over years of doing hair I’ve noticed something. There are parts of ourselves we’ve never seen directly, that is we’ve seen them reflected back as in a mirror but never with our own eyes. Have you seen your face, your actual face, the back of your head? Have you ever seen your own eyes? No. We take it on faith that what we see in the mirror reflects reality. And it does, of a sort.

Getting Your Hair Done During Venus Retrograde by Satori
“Having a dull hairstyle is like putting an olive on top of a chocolate sundae. It makes your whole appearance unappetizing.”
–Miss Piggy
Beauty, esthetics, style, these are Venus-ruled areas. Whenever Venus retrogrades there’s talk of makeovers, hair and whether or not it’s a good time to do anything regarding appearance. I hear a lot of fear-based talk. Any planetary retrograde period is a ripe energy for “re-ing,” rethinking, researching, readdressing, remaking. Venus is no different.

Beauty Tips Through The Zodiac Signs: Have some fun! By Annalisa
Astrology in real life
Whatever rules your chart, or wherever your Venus is can have some fun with some new ideas on how to spoil yourself, ways to update your look, or ideas for product or technique that might appeal to you. Here are some ideas:
Aries jumps out at me and if I were and Aries I know I would be dressing casually as often as I could, casually or for action. One thing that would cheer up and Aries and put them on the map would be some T’s to go with their yoga pants or jeans that said something fun on them or something interesting. Collecting such T’s is a good hobby for them. That, or finding a tinted moisturizer that worked with their skin to help them race out the door without much to do about it! Or, go out and try on a hundred pairs of jeans until you find the very best one’s that fit perfectly, give you stretch and give you enough room to move as well as show off your butt! When you find them buy two or three pairs! Jeans come in all price points, remember. Try a “boho” look on top of jeans.

Fashion, The Beauty Standard And The Manipulation Women (and Men)… And Children By The Media
Ask the collective
In honor of Mars squaring Venus today, here is the soldier (Mars) on beauty (Venus). He was talking to my daughter and I… this is awhile back when we visited him. I was really glad my daughter heard this by the way.
He was back on his rant on the trend towards hairlessness for men and women and the “just got out of Dachau” skinny look for women.
‘Now I’ll tell you what’s occurred to me,’ he said. “I’ve thought of doing this and maybe I should do this just to teach these idiots a thing or two.”
“Doing what?” my daughter asked.
“Oh, well I’d have to get a job a Vogue or something like that. Vogue, the magazine I mean. I’d sure hate to be around those kind of people but I could do it I had to,” he said with a groan. “I suppose…”
He stopped to let us laugh.
“But anyway I’d get in there some how. I’d get a job. I’m sure I could do this and once I was in there I’d start convincing them of things.”
“Things like what?” I asked.
“Well you know those African women with the rings around their necks? You know. Those rings they put on to make their necks long?”
“Yeah,” we both said.
“Well first I would convince them this was coming back. It’s the new style. This neck thing; it’s the thing to do.”
We both laughed.
“But I would also convince them they were going to have to do like the Chinese women as well. They were going to have to bind their feet so they wouldn’t grow.”
We snorted.
“Yep, it’s the new fashion. To be stylish, you have to have rings around your neck, bound feet and one more thing. Let’s see. Oh, I know. I could have them hang something heavy from their earlobes. Bricks or something. Something hanging from your earlobes so they’d be all stretched out like… I think it was some Indians who did that so we could do that again. We could have everyone do these three things and there you go. This could be the new beauty standard.”
Mosta and I laughed.
“And just give it a year or two and everyone would be walking around like this. And they’d look ridiculous of course which would be exactly what they deserve for letting someone convince them there was something wrong with them in the first place.”

Astrology at the Hair Salon: Venus Rules Beauty
Astrology in Real Life…
There are a lot of hairdressers who read this blog, as we found out when I posted last month’s my plea for help choosing a stylist. I went to the new gal today (I am happy) and the astrology hit me.
I have Venus (your appeal) in Leo (ego) square Neptune (faith) and when I go to the salon, I never instruct specifically instruct the stylist. I tell them I want to look good (very good, says Leo)… and then I explain I have no idea (Neptune is oblivious) how this should be achieved.
“However, you are a professional and I am sure you do. So please make me look really good, however you think you might and I’ll be very grateful…”
Faith, right? I give it to God, who in this case is the gal with the scissors. And I started doing this about 15 years ago and it almost always works out for me. But I wondered today how the rest of you handle this.

Does Eating What You Like and Liking Who You’re With Make You Feel and Look Terrific?
Ask The Collective…
Speaking of food and culture… and " Dr Emoto’s experiments with water "
, check this from "The Gospel of Food"
by Barry Glassner.
Glassner writes:
“In one of my favorite studies, Swedish and Thai women were fed a Thai dish the Swedes found overly spicy. The Thai women, who like the dish, absorbed more iron from the meal. When the researchers reversed the experiment and served hamburger, potatoes and beans, the Swedes, who like this food, absorbed more iron. Most telling was a third variation of the experiment, in which both the Swedes and the Thais were given food that was high in nutrients but consisted of a sticky, savorless paste. In this case, neither group absorbed much iron.”
Now he’s making a case for the idea you should eat what you want, whatever it is you like, but I couldn’t help but think of Dr Emoto’s water crystals.
Emoto would expose water to good energy and get beautiful crystals to form. When the water was exposed to chaos or insults, the crystals were deformed. And I imagine spicy food is an assault on the senses of someone accustomed to a blander diet and so there is no synergy between the body and the food.
And I think this is another argument for the idea that hanging around people you like, who like you, will promote health, well being… and even attractiveness.
So when I hear Oprah, or whoever telling me to relax by lighting some candles and taking a bath, I just laugh. Like that’s going to help. I like spicy food, man! I like spicy people. Fact is, taking a bath with candles (unless I just had sex) is going to do nothing but agitate me.
And what type things do have affinity with? What things leave you cold?
