He posting his impressions and observations of the conference on his blog on site Planetwaves.net and while I know Eric is a great writer and always expect a lot from him, this particular series is good to a point that leaves me with my jaw on the floor.

Check it out, I don’t think you will be dissapointed:

Open Question: What Makes A Good Astrologer?

May 17th, 2008 @ 11:29 am by Elsa

Astrology in real life

zodiac braceletMichele with another provocative question on the wrong birth data piece:

“You didn’t go to school to learn to read charts, did you? what are the traits that make a person good at it?”

Michele – I started studying with my sister when I was 8 years old (she was 10). I went to a few classes, seminars or workshops, 20 years later when I finally got to town but other than that I have essentially no formal training at all.

As to what makes a good astrologer, I have no idea.  I think I am an excellent consulting astrologer due my ability to communicate and my extensive experience. I can definitely tune you up but I can’t read a horary chart to save my life.  I can’t elect a date for a wedding, predict the weather, the stock market or the price of gold so depending on what you’re in the market for I may be good as they come or absolutely worthless.

At 9:00 Saturday morning the talks kicked off with

Robert Blaschke: Soul Groups / Pre-natal Synodic Cycles
Renie Brooksieker: The Medicine Wheel in Your Chart
Gloria Star: Right Time, Right Place [topic was relocation charts]

I went to Robert’s talk. He discussed synodic cycles and what he calls “holographic aspects”. What this means is you look at, say, the (exact) angle between Sun and Mercury in your natal chart and whether Sun is ahead of Mercury or vice versa. So let’s say that’s 10 deg, 37 min, 19 sec., with Sun ahead of Mercury. Well, then, once a year Sun and Mercury will repeat that configuration; at the moment that they do, you can erect a chart for where you are, and that chart functions like a return chart. Its influence is good until the next time Sun is 10 deg, 37 min, 19 sec ahead of Mercury (which would be about a year).
