Commitment Phobic In Her 40′s: Now What? Astrology-Based Advice
Elsa,
I feel like I’m in the midst of yet another transition or maybe still transitioning, having not yet found my place in the world, not yet found my love/life partner in this world, not yet found my livelihood in this world and desperate for all (and secretly wishing they are all intertwined with each other). It’s not for lack of opportunity or interested companions -I’ve had & have numerous wonderful men profess their love & desire to be married or build a life together. Ok, so maybe I’m a commitment-phobe aka having to have everything right & perfect before I can completely trust and commit.
Where is this ridiculous fear coming from? I know… it’s coming from me. I suppose the real question is, how do I bust it?…will I bust it?…so I might fully engage in life like I know is possible!!
Many thanks Elsa for your insight!!
Looking For My Captain’s Hat
Dear Hat,
I have no idea what your signature means but I left it intact for others to puzzle over while I try to crack your problem, which I feel is far more common than the people care to admit. The cause, and the specifics from person to person are endlessly varied but what you have in common is this: You have cracked 40 years old and you are alone. I’ll tell you exactly why I think this is.

Yang Women – Redux: “Some Boys We Met” Kay – A Double Aquarius with a Libra Moon
Just Blathering…
Here’s another story about Kay (a real person with a fake name) – a double Aquarius gal I used to run with. This is circa 1994.
We were out for the evening in downtown Denver, which is a walking around situation. You park the car and walk from here to there and everywhere. Kay had to pee so we stopped in a little bar we’d never been in before, and made our way through it to the restrooms in the back.
It was a small place, both the bar and the restroom. In fact, it was a one-seater in there, so she went in, while I waited outside restroom door. I got talking to a man standing nearby who was great distress.

I am pulling up for reference for Bawdy Astrology. It’s about yin type women (me) who run with yang type women (Kay).
I have run with yang sort of women most of my life. My best friend at ten, was a lesbian who came out in high school and nothing much has changed. I am forever running with some gal in jeans and a t-shirt where I am almost constantly wear skirts.

This is from 2009. It is relevant with Pluto (shadow) squaring Aquarius co-rulers, Saturn and Uranus
Heather writes on Astrology Today:
“I’d like to hear more about the shadow side of Aquarius–particularly if other astrologers don’t talk about it. I am a Aquarius, and I know a good handful more (in whom I can see the shadow–but thanks to a 7th house sun, I can only see myself via another…or so I’ve found. Show me my shadow?”

The Air Signs: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius by Nota
Elementary, my dear.
The signs can be divided into Triplicities, that’s groups of three, also known as Elements.
Gemini, Libra and Aquarius make up the Air signs.
Air is abstract. People with a lot of air in their charts tend to intellectualize. I don’t mean they sit around with pipes and patched jackets talking about literature, (well, some of them do.) I mean they tend to invite things into the mental space and interact with them there. They like a good think.

Astrology and Style
Capricorn
If you are decorating and living through Capricorn your style is a bit classic. Maybe more than a bit classic the Capricorn likes tried and true looks that work well and are of quality surrounding them. A more formal dining area suits the Capricorn for they are likely to have dinner parties for business and for pleasure that feature the classic elements. A great set of china or dishes are great as an investment, Capricorn, for you will use them and use them well in your life. Try using an off white color for your main dishes as well as cups and saucers and match your sugar and creamer set to your cups and saucers. As for silverware, you would do well by yourself to invest in a good set or if you have some that have been in your family for some time, that is even better! Serving from silver is very “you” and keeping the silver shining is important. You can make use of lace tablecloths or those that have been handed down by generations even if you find these things in thrift stores.

Astrology-Based Advice: Divorcing Aquarius Woman Meets Scorpio Man
Dear Elsa,
My marriage is ending, which is a very good thing. I am seeing someone else though (a Scorpio), who is adding to the confusion in my life.
He is foreign, ambitious, passionate, and exciting. When I am with him, everything seems so effortless and my problems seem manageable. Because we both are very busy people, we do not spend a ton of time together – but the time we do spend is very fulfilling. He is very demonstrative and affectionate physically and verbally, and tells me he loves me and such. However, this is all tempered with days when he is not exactly cold or ambivalent, but close to that.
He’ll be distant for days, and then jump back to being adoring and attentive. It will seesaw like this. Days that are so lovely… then days that are upsetting, because it seems like we are wasting what precious time we have together. This confuses me.
Is this all just a huge mistake? He has been patient and supportive for the most part, but there are those times when he gets almost fatalistic. There are a million other things going on in my life that make every day a trial, and he has been the one place where I feel calm and like I can be myself for better or worse. But then there are those days when his distance adds to the pressure.
I am so confused, I don’t even know what my question is. Is this worth it? I do absolutely adore him but are we just too different? Is this just crappy timing, or could this work?
Signed,
Overwhelmed
Dear Overwhelmed,
Let me read this back, simplified and from my perspective:
You have met someone new, and your life is in flux. This new person is supportive and has you energized; however he is a human being, with various patterns and quirks. The bastard doesn’t go left, left, left, left. He goes left, left, up, down, left, left…

Dixie’s Daily Tarot, July 25, 2010: Full Moon in Aquarius Takes a Stand
Astrology Meets Tarot
I like to ask tarot for focal points during astrological events. That full moon in Aquarius has some interesting possibilities.
The Seven of Wands is sometimes described as the “taking a stand” card. The traditional Rider Waite version demonstrates this concept clearly. This version, from the Legacy of the Divine, doesn’t feel quite so lonely. Here, the victor from the sixth of wands is preparing to step through a portal, a new journey. He’s not resting on his laurels. He’s on his way to new accomplishments, integrating what he’s learned in his previous travels.

Conversations With Ben: On Being an (Aquarian) Individual
Astrology in Real Life…
3 years ago on the Elsa blog…
Ben is a Scorpio with Aquarius rising. He has Uranus conjunct his descendant, exacerbating (enhancing) his Aquarian qualities. He’s got this to say:
“I know why they copy me.”
“Why?”
“Well they admire me, of course. But the thing they admire about me is that I am an individual. So rather than absorb this and go out and be an individual themselves, they go out and try to be me!” He laughed. “How can they be that stupid? Seriously. How can a person be stupid enough to think you can be an individual by copying someone else?”
