Saturn Retrograde: February 18, 2013 – The High Side Of Losing Ground

Saturn turns retrograde in Scorpio at 11 degrees on February 18th.  The planet supported by a trine from Scorpio ruler, Mars in Pisces which seems a good omen. It’s also catches support from Scorpio’s modern ruler, Pluto in Capricorn, via both aspect and mutual reception, while it takes no hits at all, so I’m voting thumbs up on this.

Many astrologers will tell you that when Saturn goes retrograde, it’s difficult to progress. I don’t see that way.  When you’re doing something hard, it makes sense you might hit some kind of plateau, where it is wise that you stop and regroup.

Just equate this to mountain climbing. You plot a course as best you can. It’s possible you get halfway up the peak and find out your plan is panning out. If this is the case, stop and take a rest before you push ahead.

You may also get halfway up and run into an impediment you did not anticipate. If this happens, it may require you backtrack some, in order to come up another way that gets you around the block.

You can see how it’s possible to go backwards but still be climbing. If you lose any ground at all during this period, figure it’s in your best interest longer term.

  1. I have been thinking about this a lot. As much as I want to move forward, I do feel like I need a little bit of reflection time.

  2. I’m already hitting walls left and right trying to move ahead… at least I know what I *don’t* have to work with, I guess. The retrograde will put Saturn on top of my natal Pluto again. I probably will have little left after all this, but if something does come along, hopefully it will be of value.

  3. “you get halfway up the peak and find out your plan is panning out.”

Oh man, c’mon… I was climbing so well. I don’t wanna rest, I like this route and I wanna keep on climbing to the top.

The Cap in me is thinking this is for the best but my Sadge little heart is pouting. =)

Thanks for the heads up, Elsa. =)

  4. It seems divinely timed. All that energy conjured up by the planets going direct and projects started will have time to lay a good foundation before plunging head-first into something not very well thought out. That’s Saturn for you! 😉

  5. This is for sure divinely planned. I need this badly right now. Will definitely be using this energy to regroup in a few areas. Thanks for the mountain climb scenario Elsa. That makes a lot of sense!

  6. This is a very useful post for me. Thank you, Elsa.

And good to know the time frame: direct in July. I know what I need to do between now and then.

  7. Perfect timing and just what I was saying. The storm Friday forced us to slow down and focus within. It was great to change gears and just let go and relax. I have been galloping along making so much progress lately but its good to slow down the rhythm turn your focus in another direction so that you can come back with a fresh perspective.

  8. Soooooo, Saturn RX conjuncts my Moon in House 2, along with everything else you’ve so brilliantly pointed out, dear Elsa. It also sextiles Pluto conjunct my Jupiter in House 4. I am thinking of financial, emotional, expanding cliff dweller. This goat climbs unheeded by reality. I guess it is time to embrace a paradigm shfit.

  9. Oh, boy,…. this going to rx on my Mercury in the first – exact! The Pisces and Aq pile up in my 4th and my Sag sun squares Pisces mars. Something tells me I’m sliding back down that mountain into the foggy past,…or the abyss, more like; backtracking. Especially, so once Mercury also goes rx.

  10. I can see this. Well I just used a chunk of cash on an investment that I finally pulled through on last night. But because I used this chunk of cash I can’t use it on my school books. Therefore I will be pretty broke for now because of the Saturn square Venus transit.
Not only that but I noticed my bestie is off the radar lately hehe. And my other friends are ignoring me a bit. Lack (saturn) of love (venus) basically 😕
Oh well I will have to do with what I got. And it really sucks looking like poor jane in the hallway at school with her peanut butter from home and potato salad haha.
I literally have Saturn in Scorpio anyhow so I am totally used all this stuff all my life 😕

  11. generally dont think too far ahead (july)but can see i have time to work on patience and organizing so i
can relocate !!!so many things swimming in my head a move and an art show hopefully i can stay the course and be liberated from the so called “poverty consciousness” and that this computer can live to july it is already showing signs of senility.(or is it me?)

  12. Nothing usually slows me down but I got really sick in Feb. The kind of sick that puts you in bed. I had to stop. Close up shop. It’s the first time in 4 years I closed my business like that because of illness.

Its been very good for me. I needed to slow down and look at everything with different eyes. I needed to check myself. Ask myself what I was doing wrong that I could correct. How could I do better with everything from work to family.

I have an idea now of what direction I am headed regarding work. It wont be long and I will be ready to really crank it up a bit…but I am still thinking hard and long over this.

The Pisces and I spent some time doing repairs at my work today and we talked. I didn’t give all my thoughts away but we did talk about what direction I wanted to take….and its time for me to hire help. I have been such a control freak with that place. I had it in my head that I was going to do it all….and by adding help I can free myself up to play a larger roll with advertising and the customers. I am thinking about adding (little by little) some retail and possibly expanding to do boarding.

One step at a time while still having quality time for home with the man, and time with those little girlies….
