Fixed Signs – These People Do Not Let Go

The soldier and I were at his friend’s house last weekend. He’s a (fixed) Taurus with a (fixed) Scorpio Moon in fixed houses.

“And you gave me that sweater for my birthday,” he said.

I knew what he was talking about because he’d sent me a picture in 2003 that jogged my memory. “Yeah, I did.”

“And I still have it. And I wear it sometimes too.”

“What? You mean you kept that sweater for… it’s going on 30 years!”

“Yes, I kept it. Why would I get rid of it? I always liked that sweater so I’ve kept it.”

I stared. “What could you possibly be thinking when you put that thing on after 30 years?”

He shrugged. “I’m not thinking anything. I always liked it so why wouldn’t I keep it? It’s my sweater and you gave it to me. ”

Do you hold on to stuff like this? Is there an emphasis on the fixed signs in your chart?

  1. Taurus with Scorpio rising. Uh…I don’t have 30-year-old stuff, but yes, I don’t throw a whole lot out.

  2. yeah, Fixed emphasis for sure. It took Pluto transiting all my personal planets & ASC by conjunction to teach me how to pry my fingers open and learn to surrender – especially emotional crap. Though I moved so often for years i am pretty good about winnowing out the chaff when it comes to ‘stuff’. It’s odd how that can work sometimes ’cause your soldier must have had to travel light most of his active duty life . . .

  3. I think the tenacity of Fixed signs depends on the planets/houses involved…my husband has 5 planets plus the MC & AC in Fixed signs…he does not hold on to possessions at all – however, he DOES hold on to other things (ideals, goals, etc.). My son is the same – 6 planets, plus MC & AC, in Fixed signs. Not possessive at all, but when he has something in mind that he wants, or that he wants to do, nothing – NOTHING – will stop him. In contrast, I’ve only got ONE planet, and my AC, in a Fixed sign…and *I’M* the packrat in the house! LOL – but then, I have Venus in Taurus in the 2nd! Hellllloooooo?! Possessions!! 😀 *shrugs* go fig 😉

  4. Ooops…it’s not in the 2nd, it’s in the 3rd…but my Sun is in the 2nd 😉 so, that explains THAT! 🙂

  5. Leo Sun, Taurus rising, and I love change. Really…I’ve got a whole bunch of it in a jar on the counter.

  6. (reads Phil’s post, falls off chair laughing…)

Virtually no fixed by either sign or house here. Just a stellium in Cancer.

*I’ve* got 30 or more year old stuff in MY home…including a sewing basket that my mother had that belonged to HER mother (who died before I was even born).

Do I even need to explain this? 😉

  7. Sun and Mercury in Taurus; Saturn, Pluto and Mars in Scorpio. I don’t buy (that) much stuff but if something has an emotional resonance, I find it hard to throw away. Those things only tend to get dumped after at least 5 years of not being used. Things that are good and useful tend to last me forever. I haven’t owned anything for thirty years (I’m only 23!) but I do still wear clothing I had when I was 16 which is a third of my life ago.

  8. Leo Sun and ruling planet Mars conjunct the Sun. I hang on to things; I’m very much a pack rat. It’s very hard for me to throw anything out, because everything has a memory for me. However, my ASC, MC, Moon, and a couple of other planets are in Cardinal signs, so every once in a while, I get sick of the clutter, trash it all, and start fresh. 🙂

  9. ack! hanging on to stuff make me a crazed maniac!! My mother still has phone books from the town we moved away from 15 years ago ‘in case she needs to look up a number.’
i accumulate fast and purge just as fast. wonder what the astrological indicator is for that. An intercepted Pisces 2nd house? If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear it!

  10. YEP! Taurus sun, Aquarius moon, Scorpio rising. I still wear clothes and shoes that I have owned for over 20 years. I still like them! 🙂

My Aquarius Sun, Mars in Cancer husband holds onto people and clothes. I told him last week before I left for an overnight trip to visit my family in Vancouver that I was going to clean out his side of the closet and throw out everything that pre-dated this century when I got back. I came home to a half-empty closet…he’s hidden his clothes somewhere in this house and I can’t find them!!

And he still keeps in touch with extended family and friends he hasn’t seen since his teens. He phones everyone on their birthdays.
