One Day You’re A Nut, The Next Day You’re Anointed

May 4th, 2013 @ 5:30 am by Elsa

Astro chat

You gain perspective as you age. You’ve had time to see things, people and trends, come and go. You’ve been alive long enough to see opinions and attitudes change in yourself and others.

My grandfather, Henry, became a vegetarian in the 1930′s. This was very unusual at the time. He became a vegan in the 1950′s when everyone else in America was eating steak and potatoes and burgers, fries and shakes.

He also started to jog in the 1950′s. This was something that did not become popular until the 1970′s. He was seen as quite the weirdo, running through the streets of the city on his bum leg, which he broke twice doing stunts on his motorcycle in the 1920′s, as pictured.

Sensing Trends in the Collective

September 29th, 2012 @ 5:49 am by Elsa

8th house

There was a thread on the boards yesterday, Hollywood’s New Bible Stories. I’ve been saying for awhile, I feel religion is making a comeback so I was not surprised when I say the article in Wall Street Journal. I have seen religious-themed merchandise showing up in mainstream outlets over the last month or s as well, which is very telling.

I have always paid close attention to trends.  Not fashions trends but deep shifts in the collective, which would be a Pluto Moon thing. I always seem know which way the wind will be blowing next.  This comes to me one way or the other.

Trends In The Collective: What If You’re Cut Out To Be Married?

April 30th, 2012 @ 5:30 am by Elsa

Ask the collective

You know how you hear that not all people are cut out to be married?  And about how society forced these people to marry in the past?  I now think we’ve swung so far in the other direction, people who ARE cut out to be married never have this occur to them.

Some people have charts that are clearly family-oriented. They wind struggling because there is so little support for their natural way of being. It’s the same suffering that’s occurred in the past, flipped inside out.

Societal trends are so powerful, you can only hope that you’re born in a time where a life that suits is in vogue.

Do the current trends in society agree with you?

Uranus Square Pluto: Rebelling Against Taboo…And What Is Taboo Is Changing

January 8th, 2012 @ 5:30 am by Elsa

Trends in the collective.

Astrologers agree, Uranus square Pluto is a big one. The transit is in effect into 2015 so there will be a lot to say on the topic. (tag Uranus square Pluto). A transit like this will manifest in an endless number of ways, in personal lives as well as in the collective as a whole.  Pluto is associated with taboo and Uranus with the unexpected and rebellion.  These planets in combination, disturb.

Trends in the Collective

October 22nd, 2011 @ 1:01 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life.

Trend-watching is one of my areas of interest.  I’ve got a whole section for this is on the blog though I don’t write as much about it as I used to.  One of the things that throws me is I have a lot of contact and interaction with the people on this blog but I don’t think they are representative of the collective as far as the United States goes.  For one thing there is an international audience here but besides that, people who are interested in astrology tend to be liberal-minded so it skews things.

Trends In The Collective

September 27th, 2011 @ 5:11 am by Elsa

My eye on the sky.

If I had to choose just one thing to study for the rest of my life it would be trends in the collective. I am talking about the deep shifts in the collective psychology that see various things (or people) become popular or faddish. I constantly monitor things like this in numerous ways. As a result, I can usually see things coming way ahead of the pack.

Brains, Brawn And Prowess vs Feminized Men

August 24th, 2011 @ 5:13 am by Elsa

Ask the collective.

I have not been shy about calling myself a dog or a lizard or unevolved or whatever. I state that I am raw; that I work in a dirty grave and that I operate on instinct in large part. I may reason things out. I may have an intellect but I would never override my gut at this point in my life because my 8th house and it’s lower functions have proven to be so reliable.

The Future Of Social Networks

August 21st, 2011 @ 10:09 am by Elsa

Trends in the collective

Libra rules socializing while Saturn is associated with building and structure. With Saturn transiting Libra, many are building a social network to support their business. This is true for the individual as well as other entities like Google with it’s Google+. It’s a given this continue into 2012 but when Saturn leaves Libra for Scorpio, in October, I would expect to see a shift.

The shift will be away from the superficial and when this happens, I don’t think anyone will mind. It’s not that social networking is a waste. But it’s just a step on path of where we’re going.

What do you see as the future of social networking?

I got this article in my mail today – What Jaron Lanier Thinks of Technology Now : The New Yorker. The caption under the photograph states that Lanier believes that social-networking sites devalue friendship. Here’s an excerpt from the piece by Jennifer Kahn:

“…Last year, he published “You Are Not a Gadget: A Manifesto,” a provocative critique of digital technologies, including Wikipedia (which he called a triumph of “intellectual mob rule”) and social-networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, which he has described as dehumanizing and designed to encourage shallow interactions. Teen-agers, he writes, may vigilantly maintain their online reputations, but they do so “driven more by fear than by love.”

Why Do Women Want To Feminize Men?

August 21st, 2010 @ 6:40 am by Elsa

Ask the collective

My husband has strong (and hilarious) opinions on this topic, expressed over the years.

““Yeah, my whole world has gone to hell. Men are feminized now, P. They’re like girls or something…” Non-Feminized Men Fashion Show

“You’re right. I will turn into a girl. That’s exactly what’ll happen, I’m glad you’re figuring this out, P.” “I Will Turn Into A Girl” – Women Feminizing – Men – Why Do They Do It?
