My Hope For Changes In Society With The Influx Of Planets Into Aries
Astrology in real life
I had a very frustrating conversation with a gal last week, this was in my personal life having nothing to do with my blog. She’s young and not that bright I am sorry to say. I have been waiting for her to figure things out for the better part of a year and this is starting to occur mostly because I am so forceful.

College Student’s Grades Dropping, Health Failing Due Unrequited Love: Astrology-Based Advice
Dear Elsa,
I’ve been in love with someone for 2 years. The love has remained unrequited. These two years have been pure torture with my grades falling rapidly, my health failing, me being more and more reclusive. I try and try to get over it and to ignore it but its driving me mad. I found out most Venus in Scorpio are obsessive and passionate, and I’m very afraid that I might never get over this. Or is there a chance that this someone is actually the one for me? Should I wait for him to come to me? Or should I let go?
Please do help me. I tried talking about it to people around me but they don’t understand. I feel like life has lost all meaning and purpose. Please do help me, I can’t bear this any more. please….
Double Capricorn
India
Dear Capricorn,
Sure Venus in Scorpio is obsessive and passionate but how about self-protective, hmm? How about Scorpio’s famous will to survive? I am sorry but I don’t have much sympathy. Why would I have sympathy for someone who is doing exactly what they want to do? Do you think this is accidental? Do you think you lack purpose? I do not agree.
I think you are using this guy as an excuse not to apply yourself. He is a way and means for you to find and feel an edge. He is a way you can feel pain and manifest your fear of failing. It’s got to be you because how can any of his doing when he’s not even on the scene?
Your friends don’t understand? I bet they do understand. They understand you are frothing at the mouth for a man who has no interest. They understand you are doing lousy in school and basically wrecking your life and while you’ve certainly got the right, I would not recommend it.
I recommend you clutch it up. I recommend you throw glass of cold water in your own face. Whatever it takes to snap yourself out of this, because you are in college now and you are supposed to paying your dues – as opposed to disabling yourself and calling it “love”.
Good luck.

Open Question: She’s 17 And Uncomfortable With Attention From Her (Married) Male Teacher
Ask the collective
Chart is approximate. This gal is 17 years old. She reports being born, “PM” so I placed the time @ 6 PM.
Dear Elsa,
I have a problem and need some advice. There is a teacher at my school he stares at me a lot. Whenever I enter the classroom he makes an eye contact with me. I feel like he’s attracted to me. I heard he even got married a few months ago. The way that he stares at me it’s really bothers me. I have NO relationship with him and never will be. He hasn’t act inappropriately around me. Please help me, what should I do? should I report him?
Uncomfortable Student
Canada
Dear Student,
I would confront this teacher for sure in whichever way you are most comfortable. You can “report him” or alternately you can just tell him directly that his staring at you makes you very uncomfortable.
Tactically the latter is preferable because if you suffer any backlash after the confrontation, you still have the option of reporting him. Slick, huh?
But I understand this may be too demanding so if you go the other route, I would only recommend you change your language. You are not “reporting” him, you are letting a counselor know that one of your teachers is making you uncomfortable and he/she is taking it from there.
Good luck!

Triple Capricorn With Venus and Mars in Aquarius Wonders Which Direction To Take
Dear Elsa,
I am a scholarship student (and senior) at a well-known small liberal arts school. I have been blessed to enjoy the opportunity of exploring my passions through my studies. After high-achieving for years, I now have several career opportunities awaiting action.
Many of the opportunities carry heavy prestige and an “international” focus but with high burn-out potential. I’ve also privately lost much of the idealism necessary to work in such jobs in good faith. However, my family expects me to at least gain a job with prestige, as even my getting to go to this school was a huge step up for us.
At the same time, I feel strongly driven to learn music as it is my secret and true passion. I have already trained successfully in the visual arts and creative writing, so I know the demands of that sort of vocation. I feel absolutely torn.
Do I take one of the “pragmatic” career-track jobs, using my potential to make my family proud? Do I pursue a financially insecure course of “day jobs” to live my dreams and potentially fail? I just don’t know what my “duty” is anymore.
Thanks,
Encumbered Capricorn
United States
Dear Capricorn,
Without a doubt, your duty is to yourself. Your parents had a life. They have their own life now too, and this one is yours to live.
That said, the fact you feel some responsibility towards them is part of your nature. It’s an authentic feature of your personality, so this is why you feel the way you do – and I think you can count on it preventing you from running off to join the circus anytime soon. People are endlessly complex and you are no exception to that, but to try to simplify – this is a quick sketch of you:
- Venus and Mars in Aquarius wants to innovate and make its own rules.
- Pluto in the tenth house wants a powerful job.
- Your packed twelfth house wants to escape – to merge with something universal through music, and your planets in Sagittarius wants to expand via travel and education.
But you are also a triple Capricorn and there is no getting away from that. Your life in large part is about hard work. Your life is a job, and your job is to actualize your entire personality… so I would suggest you forget the idea of drastically amputating this or that part of you and the investment you’ve made in yourself. Instead, think about how you can allow all these parts of yourself expression. Be creative. Working this out is your task this life.
Good luck.

Unsure About Career In Social Work: Scorpio Sun, Capricorn Rising
Hi, Elsa
I recently graduated from university and I have applied to grad schools in social work. The idea is for me to become a therapist in the future. My problem is that I just don’t feel strongly about this. I would love to feel extremely excited and passionate about the idea of social work, and it really worries me that I don’t.
And when I think of alternatives, the options that arise are music… or some kind of interior decorating/designing, both of which I love but have no professional training in. So I am wondering if anything in my chart can explain my feelings of ambivalence towards social work, or can point me towards a field I can be more excited about.
Or perhaps I need to think in a different, more revolutionary way about social work? I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks, and God Bless,
Student
Nigeria
Dear Student,
They say that life it too short to spend it doing something you are not passionate for. But for Capricorn risings like you and me, I’d say that life is too long! And looking at your stellium in Scorpio, I have to think you’re going to prove very hard to kill – so I think your concern that you might be on the wrong path is valid… sort of.
See, your education will never be wasted because being psychologically sophisticated is an asset that is applicable to everything all the time. If you consider the symbol for Capricorn – a goat climbing a very large mountain – what you could be discovering is not that you are climbing the wrong mountain, but that the top is somewhat further off than you thought. And when you initially consider this it may upset you, but in reality it’s not that big a deal. This is just life and life unfolds.
And I’m not worried about you at all. Because obviously this has emerged and if you were intent on stuffing your feelings and committing to a career you have no passion for, you would not have written me.
So this is where you are and you are going to have to do something about it. Are you capable of that? Of course! I would bet you are more capable than 95% of the people out there and I bet you’d agree with me.
So just be still and ask the universe to show you the best path. I bet you anything it will oblige and from there you need only execute, which is a walk in the park for Capricorn.
And on a more visceral level, with all those planets in Scorpio, never ever choose the thing that has no energy for you. Because if you do, you will shrivel up.
Good luck.

Younger Sagittarius Man, Older Sagittarius Woman: Can It Work?
Elsa,
I haven’t been in a relationship for several years. I’m a Sagittarius and can’t seem to find anyone who seems interesting enough for the effort it takes to go out. I returned to college several years ago and have a year left until completion (and have several children). My question is:
I have intense chemistry with one of my former professors. He is also a Sadge and eight years my junior. What is your opinion about that: younger, Sadge, same sign and a former professor?
Thanks,
Ex Student
Dear Student,
I don’t see any problem. You’re nearly 45… he’s mid thirties, so you’re both adults. As for the age difference, so what? There are as many benefits as there are problems. He’s your ex-professor? Big deal. He taught you some things, now you can return the favor!
As for the general question of two people in relationship being the same sun sign, in my experience it either works very well or the people bore and repel each other. You know. Yick! He/she is way too much like me! Makes me sick to look in a mirror like that! Get me the hell out of here!
More specific for Sagittarius, on the upside you can understand each other’s need for freedom. But I’ll tell you something I notice about Sadge. Some of them seem to be looking for someone to (try to) tie them down. You know. They want someone who will try to stick a wild horse in a corral and why is that? So they can jump the fence of course. So if you (or he) is of this ilk… well you’re going to let each other down by not trying to contain and restrict.
Bottom line, if I were you I’d call this guy up and get a date. You have every reason in the world to do this and absolutely no reason not to. And from there, provided he signs on, you’re two people on an adventure.
Sound good? Sounds good to me.
Good luck.

Scared To Spend Another Loner Year In High School: Sagittarius Sun, Capricorn Rising
Dear Elsa,
I am nervous about the upcoming school year. I had a hard time making friends last year. I pretty much became a loner. I don’t like school very much anymore and I am getting signs of depression. What do you suggest?
High Schooler
Dear High Schooler,
I have to offer some kind of blanket disclaimer… you might consider having your level of depression evaluated by a professional. But what I really think will help your Sagittarius Sun is an expanded perspective and a ray of hope, which I can provide.
This is how life works. Seriously. These are facts:
One year does not predict the next. You are on a journey and things are constantly changing. So the idea that this year will be like next year is a fear, as opposed to reality.
Number two, I guarantee you every fourteen year-old on the planet has feelings similar to yours. You know those girls with all the friends? The ones who are snotty and put other girls down? Underneath that bravado is pure desperation.
See, you have no or low friends, so you’re scared. The girls with tons of friends are scared too. Scared they are going to lose their position!
Basically, what I am saying is it is very hard to be 14!! This is universal! And what I suggest is you go out there and look for your own kind. You want to find a “tribe”.
See, you have a lot of Capricorn, so lots of fear. And what will help is having a plan. So when I was a kid… well obviously I am a little odd. So guess what I did? I hung with the other odd kids. The out-of-the-closet gay boy with lots of angst. The girl with the brother dying of cancer at sixteen years old. And I had significant friendships with them. So never mind the cheerleading squad, you know? The girls worried about an inch of fat on them! Are you getting this? That’s not your tribe, anyway!
There is a way to navigate. There is a way to survive high school!! Just quit feeding the fear and start making a smart plan, instead. Believe you have a “tribe” out there and further, that you will find them, and them you. Because you do and you will.
Much love and good luck.

A Jacked Up Life – Saturn Transit Through Leo
Dear Elsa,
When I was in grade school, instead of advancing me two grades like the school recommended, my parents decided to keep me with my “friends.” As a consequence, I was bored to tears by school and was completely disenchanted with formal education by the time I graduated.
Since my father wouldn’t allow me to take a year off, I chose a school that was rated as being academically rigorous by the college guidebooks. When I got there, I was once again disappointed by not feeling challenged. So after my first semester, I didn’t apply myself at all, got a 1.2 GPA over four semesters, and left school. After that, I worked in a lot of dead-end jobs just to make the rent.
My last job was as a receptionist in a mental health practice. Working there, I finally decided to return to school to become a psychologist. The problem? I quit my job at the end of 2005. Since then, my Original School has put a hold on my records and I can’t get them sent to Transfer School, which I’ve already applied to. The home business that I want to start while I’m a student has yet to become more than a pipe dream. And to top it all off, I’m reading scary things about Saturn in Leo and life-changing transits coming up.
I’m freaking out just a little bit. I’ve never really had to work all that hard for what I wanted… things just came my way (or not), and I went along with it. But now I’m afraid that I’ve screwed things up with my complacence and procrastination.
I guess I want either reassurance or a swift kick in the rear. Why has this gone down the way it has?
Leo Sun, Aquarius Moon
Dear Leo,
Well you really showed him, didn’t you? Your dad, I mean. And your parents in general. Fuck them! Fuck what they say. With your moon in Aquarius, you are going to do what you are going to and to hell with authority!
But now you see, this hasn’t served you. You’re growing up. And you’re right, it’s a Saturn transit. First to your Aquarius Moon, and then eventually to your Sun, Mercury in Leo and ultimately, your natal Saturn in Virgo.
So here’s the deal. For the next three years, you’re going to get your shit together. Because to quote another Aquarius Moon I know – “You’re not the only genius in the world,” okay?
And this is what stage one of your Saturn transit is about. It’s about being humbled. And made to conform. And held to a standard. It’s about turning in your goddamn homework when you’re supposed to… with the rest of the lemmings, even when you think you’re special.
It is also about curbing your tendency to rebel after growing up enough to see when it is destructive. There are times when you should rebel, when you must rebel. But there are other times where you need to clutch it up. Pick your revolutions, okay? Because rebelling for the sake of rebelling is rather silly.
So there you go. And I am not trying to be a mean bitch. I am just giving you exactly what you asked for. A reality check. Reality = Saturn. And you may as well get used to it, because you aren’t getting out from under this thumb for three years. Thank goodness. Because three years from now, you’ll have your degree and without this transit?
Well, I hope you like filing those papers for the professionals you work for…
Good luck.

Ambitious High Schooler
Dear Elsa,
This isn’t an easy question. My family moved from Thailand to the States when I was 8. As you could’ve guessed, we overstayed our visa for a better life. I’m now 18 and a senior in high school.
The hard question is: will I go to college? Will I have a chance? I’m set to pursuing careers in art, as I want to be an industrial designer. But art schools are $30,000 to $45,000 a year! And I refuse to go to a community college, for some reason. All my life I managed to better myself ambitiously, such as winning awards and maintaining good grades. So why settle?
But now I seem to have hit rock bottom, because I have no money and no financial aid to pursue a higher education. Being in this situation makes me feel lower than dirt. Sometime I am embarrassed and ashamed for my situation, but I just want to know if something will ever come out of my life. Or a direction to go to.
Please help. Thank you sincerely.
Crushed
Dear Crushed,
First, I admire your ambition and tenacity. With your kind of drive, I think success is a given and the hang up here is really just that. A hang up.
What’s up with your refusal to attend community college? It’s not rational is it?
I checked on this with a pal of mine, who is sort of a peer to you, but fifteen years older. I say “Peer” because like you, he is an immigrant who is driven. These are his comments:
“There’s nothing settling about going to community college. In fact, plenty of people do it now as a way to save money! They go to community college for two years, then transfer to a four-year school with their great grades. It’s the “in” thing to do… saves you oodles of money, and you still get the same great degree.”
So there you go. Whatever your hang-up about community college is – transcend it and get on with your life. Good luck.

Lost in College – Neptune Transit
Dear Elsa,
For the past month or so, I’ve been quite behind in schoolwork. I have been suffering from sleeplessness, panic attacks, and also escapism. During my periods of hopelessness, I’ve been unable to get outside and or even go to class.
It’s just schoolwork, right? But now that I’m in college, I guess I feel maybe I have something important to give to people through this work. Yet I’m still not living up to my potential and I feel so guilty about not producing anything of academic value for my professors. I feel like I’m losing their respect.
I can’t figure out why I keep nervously escaping and hiding from the classwork (which I do care about a lot, perhaps too much). Then I beat myself up over it and yet I *still* don’t improve. I feel like I’ve become the lowest of the “suck-up fakers”, gaining the trust and hope of my professors and then just running around, failing and disappointing them.
It isn’t that I don’t do the work – it just keeps piling higher and higher and I just can’t deal with it. Sometimes, I feel like I just want to give up. I don’t even know what I want to do once I get out of school!
I’m at the end of my rope with all the mistakes that I’ve made (and keep making). Please tell me I’m going to get out of this rut. Honestly, sometimes I feel like I’m going to break.
Help!
A Mind in Turmoil
Dear Mind,
Well, crap. You’re in the middle of an enormous Neptune transit and I don’t think you are going to see any relief short term. I’m very sorry, because you have planets in Capricorn and I know it’s very important you achieve and be real.
This part of your nature is in direct conflict with the diffuse and disabling Neptune energy that currently pervades your life. With a stellium in Scorpio and the Capricorn to back it up, you are normally very focused and controlled and now look? It’s like someone breathes and all the sudden you’re overwhelmed. And I am terrifically sorry, but this is not going to go away in the short term.
I realize this is devastating news, but that same Capricorn (fearful as it may be) will save you. Because Capricorn is a long distance runner. And Capricorn can accept and deal with reality far easier than any other sign.
So here’s your deal. You’re going to be “erasing” like this throughout 2006. That’s a long time, but it’s not forever, and you can make it. You can fake it it you have to, and you’ll have to.
But the quality of person you are is still there. Even on the days you can’t see it, you will just have to have faith. Which is the point of all this, by the way. Neptune transits teach faith. And the only thing you can do to ease this process is to give in to it. Find the rhythm of the tide (it’s there!) and align it.
In non-metaphysical language: on the days your can think clearly, do it. On the days your acute mind is less accessible, take it easy on yourself. And trust your capabilities will come back in time. Or better yet, at the right time… because they will.
Good luck.
