I had a revelation earlier today sitting in the car with my head in my purse… If I want to get anything done right now, I’m going to have to go against the grain.

WTF!?

This was a new idea to me. I’m not kidding, I’m almost 30. My life up to this point has been a epic Neptunian float along. I have gone with the flow down more dubious eddies than I can count, and conveniently forgotten a lot of them, and magically woken back up on a calm sea. All with the mantra “This is what the universe wants me to see.”

Just in case, I’ll explain… “The Dude” is a character played by Jeff Bridges in the film The Big Lebowski. George looks like “The Dude” to me.)

Albert’s mom has moon opposite Pluto and some control issues around food to go with it so we were strictly forbidden to “bring anything.” She said she doesn’t want us to have to go to “any trouble.”

Moonpluto started a thread about classical music this morning which got me watching a bunch of Lang Lang videos. If you’re a Lang Lang fan, you know you don’t just sit back and listen to him play. You watch. You watch him emote, you watch him play the music with his hands and his face and his whole body.   If you don’t know who Lang Lang is look him up. He’s a Gemini Sun/Pisces moon pianist from Shenyang. ..And I love him.  But that’s not the point of this story…

The point is…as I was watching him play, I boarded a very long train of thought and ended up getting off on my 23rd birthday.

I befriended one of our Indian neighbors. His name was Harsh which he said meant happiness. “I know, I know, that is like the opposite of happiness, Whoa, Harsh! But I assure you, it means happiness.”

Harsh had a 10th house Leo Sun/Cancer Moon combo and was into rock climbing. He frequently tried to coerce me into joining him at the rock climbing gym

In addition to my Pluto square, Uranus is transiting my 8th house.

The washing machine is still broken, so I went to the laundromat the other night. I like to go to this particular laundromat because they are relatively clean and they have a Ms. Pacman machine.

I loaded the wash, counted out how many quarters I would need for the dryer and hid them from myself in my left pocket. I put the rest of the change in my right pocket and headed for the back room arcade with an odd premonition that the game would be off.

It was unplugged.

I shoved the machine over slightly, wedged behind it and fished out the cord. I looked at it, I looked at the outlet next to me. I looked back at the plug and heard the words “Uranus in the 8th – Shocked to Death” in my head. Was this really the way I was going to die? Plugging in an archaic arcade game during a risky transit?

I decided to tempt fate.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself yet.” Albert said stroking his ever increasing beard as he contemplated his week of freedom from his students, his spring break.

“Have you considered trimming your beard?” I gently suggest some light grooming.

“I’ve considered it.”

“And…?”

“I’m still considering it.”

“I’m not trying to tell you what to do, I just think you would look more attractive with a neater beard, that’s all.”

Albert reminds me of this almost everyday. He says nothing. He just has this look. I will be carrying on over something and as I turn to survey my audience, I see his eyes are slightly widened, the corners of his lips are fighting not to pull back. His efforts not to laugh are making his face look like a butt trying not to fart.
