Astrology and Impermanence: The Pisces Curse

I was on the phone with a Pisces pal who was highly cranky.

“I hate being in a mood,” she said, sounding snitty. “I guess everybody does. No one like being in a mood.”

“Yeah, they don’t.”

“I don’t know what happened to me,” she said. She was so happy a few days ago.

“I do,” I said. “I know what happened.”

“You do?”

“Well, yeah. You were all involved with that guy. You were focused on him. You were doing something and then… nothing.”

“Right.”

“Uh huh. You were swimming around all happy. You were having no problems and then the tide went out. That’s what happened. That guy turned into… he turned into nothing and next thing you know, you’re standing there in the bottom of a swimming pool and that pool is empty!”

“Uh huh.”

“And an empty pool? Well, it’s barren for one thing. So no wonder you feel bad! It’s the curse of being Pisces. Sorry about that, but it’s not like I don’t know the feeling. You know I do. And no one likes it when the water leaves, but it always does. The water always goes out, it’s nature and you wind up left there on the beach, just standing.”

“I’m waiting for the water to come back,” she said in a plaintive voice.

“Yep, but that pool is dry.”

“And I’m here on my little floaty…”

I roared laughing. “I’m sorry, man. I know it’s awful. But it’s funny in a way. Poor little fishy just wants to swim and around than then look what happens…”

She laughed. She didn’t feel it but she laughed anyway. At least I’m being company, right? Sometimes there is nothing else you can do.

With Saturn opposing Neptune in the sky, everyone is a little bit “Pisces” at the moment. So how is your day going? Are you in the water? Is it high tide? Or are you standing there with your floaty, feeling bewildered and wondering where all your good feelings went?

  1. Well,

I have saturn (rules my 7th house and is on 11th house) oposing neptune in my natal chart.

I know what is being in a moody (ascendant cancer and moon in scorpio!)

  2. I’m fire/air and I hate this ephemeral stuff. I like things solid, exciting, liberating and fun! I need passion to surround me and not this wishy washy stuff…it’s so freakin’ unsettling. I’m trying to go with it and doing an okay job…but I still don’t like it.

    Call me ‘fixed’.

Love that image. It will stick with me.

  4. I’m with you, Gem. I’m mostly fire-air and I’ve been feeling unsettled this whole opposition. Thankfully, though, it has lessened recently.

But, one of my few water influences is a Cancer Asc, so I do understand the mood thing. It just usually doesn’t impact me as hard.

I’ve got Cancer Moon (etc.) so I’m ALWAYS moody, by nature. Rollercoaster.

I’m up with one breath, down with the next.
    Here, gone. Coming, going.
    In flux, all the time.

So this transit isn’t really causing anything for me that isn’t part of my natural life flow.

Also, my natal Neptune sextiles my natal Saturn, so this is also another ‘natural’ for me. The real and the unreal, the solid and the dissolving, here-gone, coming-going, now you see it now you don’t…

It’s just like breathing in and out for me, transit or no transit.

  6. I’m with Gem – fire and air – with some earth thrown in – no water to speak of. And almost all fixed signs. I have never been an emotional person – I’m a bootstraps type – I’ll do it myself, thank you very much. I manage to always be in a good mood – sometimes by choice – but it’s kinda cool that I can actually make that choice. I understand some people can’t do that. Thank goodness my Cancer SO has a Sagittarius moon to cheer him up. He’d never get that from me -LOL.

  7. Last week i was happy and forward looking, this week anxious and emotional. Nothing changed, just my mood and i dont seem to have any control over it. Like it’s some kind of little demon poking me in the gut now and then going ‘remember me? i’ve come to ruin your day’..and then i scream like Homer Simpson and try and shake him off and he just keeps chasing me round. Actually the cartoon imagery of that has cheered me up..!
