I am officially trying to resign as President of my Woman’s Club. I’ve invested countless hours making an enormous effort, but I just can’t deny the fact I prefer to be a worker bee.
I don’t think I lack leadership skills, necessarily. But I am a terrible politician. I’d rather just run my own life, make decisions for myself and help others as much as I can.
Would you make a good President of something? What’s your 10th house look like?

Packed Virgo Stellium in the 10H. I think I’d make an excellent President, as long as I remain above-board. Of course, that could get me assassinated.
Since I have Uranus conjunct my Leo MC, I tend to rebel against authority, so it’s just best for me to be the leader/president… My Aries Sun is up for that as well.
Sun in 10th, but no, not a good prez. Too much Sag (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter=Asc) to be a good leader. It’s my mouth, don’tcha know.
I am so sure that I would not make a good President. This is mainly because I feel like I am too busy managing myself. I have both Mars and Saturn in the 10th and they are both conjunct and retrograde. Former supervisors and managers have seen my work ethic and wanted me to be a “leader” for others, but I simply rather do the best that I can do. If my co-workers need help, I’m all up for lending a helping hand, but being the “leader” for others is not my thing. I like to go my own way and do my own thing. I’m too focused on honing my skills and getting my thing right. I like to get my hands dirty and I love experience and at times I feel like leaders can end up being delegators. I want to do my own work. I also have Virgo MC so maybe that influences this.
Oh! and my Saturn return made me face the fact that I would rather be self-employed, but not have tons of workers beneath me. I like working for myself without having to depend on others to keep my business going. I prefer to be a one-woman working machine. I know…it makes the work “harder”, but I really do like it that way.
I have Sagittarius (Moon, MC, Saturn, and Uranus) and Capricorn (Neptune) planets in the 10th house. I think I could be a good leader if I work hard on myself, if I make sure I know my stuff, and if I have something specific to contribute.
Thanks Elsa!
I have been the leader of organizations that I both founded or joined (Leo 10th with MC, Sun, Jupiter, Mars and Pluto). You’re right, Elsa, it’s hard work and one is constantly blending various energies brought by other members, mostly wanting you to ‘fix’ something. This on top of coming up with strategies, forming agendas, ensuring that any debate is constructive, productive and on-topic.
It can be exhausting; and since you’re often the only one doing all this, it’s not always appreciated by the group and it can be lonely
Leadership also requires that the leader maintain and grow their own inner awareness.
I no longer lead anything or anyone – I’m only on sabbatical though – I don’t think I can fully retire in this lifetime. I’ll also say that the next time I find myself considering a position of leadership, I’m going to be really choosy and set more boundaries – and delegate more!
BTW, I think you’re an excellent leader. You’re our leader here, and though the role wears on you at times, you lead us all in so many good and wise ways (especially by example) and I totally salute you!
All I’ve got in the 10th house is Neptune in Scorpio, so no, I am not presidential material. I hate even being a supervisor at work.
In elementary school I was voted class president or VP three years in a row. In middle school I was voted most likely to be governor.
But any of that was tainted by a vivid memory I have at age 7, when a class bully replied to my shushing with disgust and accusation “What are ya gonna do about it, Dorchid?? Miss President of the World!”
I can laugh about it now
I grew up in a political family. It’s goddamn disgusting is what it is. You see the worst in people. The people who thrive in those situations are like thieves or surgeons – either sociopaths or transcendant and aloof.
10th house Sun in Virgo
MC in pisces, not a good president…my stellium is in 4th house libra…i am the “tyran” in my home…:)
I have a Taurus MC, Gemini 10th, empty.
With Cap/Virgo/Leo, one might think I’d be a good president, but no. I’ve been a committee chair for the past several months, and it’s a friggin’ miracle I haven’t killed or severely wounded someone. A leader has to deal with the setbacks, which I don’t have patience for. All I want to do is Get It Done.
I wouldnt pack up the bags just yet. it’s too new. We have to give time to time. I mean I’m feeling what you are saying but not thinking it. Cap in 1st. Maybe something can come out of pursuing and going even further. Kristine
I appreciate this post Elsa, and especially this:
“I don’t think I lack leadership skills, necessarily. But I am a terrible politician. I’d rather just run my own life, make decisions for myself and help others as much as I can.”
I’ve led in my time, rising from the ranks into leadership roles and do it for many(15 yrs). I have Scorpio Sun, Merc and Chiron in the 10th if you look at the chart using Placidus; Sun shifts into the 11th is viewing it with the Equal House. All this squares Saturn-Mars-Pluto so the price of leadership was costly. Done at a time when I was raising a family, and learning to evolve a healthy ego with very young skill with boundaries.
I burned out significantly.
I love to create and communicate, and find I love being on my own to do it. I work hard and with help and years, I have more skill with limits and boundaries. Something I didn’t know while working full-time and out-front was the valuable lesson Chiron was teaching me: side-stepping power struggles and valuing my quality by owning it.
Worker bees serve the Queen. Does the Queen ever step down? In my time, I’ve seen a few.
I have Aries in my 10H and I think I would make a fine president….energy, initiative, authority, Gung-ho…I could do it. But…so much of the core of me is led by my H4 stellium and my Cancer asc Taurus moon. I could do it…but my heart would be torn all the time. Then I have Jupiter sq Uranus to deal with…thow my all into something…and then abandon it! And my little Mercury Sq Uranus problem of saying what I think and if it doesn’t go over well I usually couldn’t care any less…. so that wouldn’t work…..especially when someone came back at me and my Mars sq Pluto decided to stand up….
MC in pisces and moon in 10th. I’m a good leader and always end up in those positions quickly since a teen. But hate the role as it attracts everyone who has the slightest grievance, criticism, etc. I just want to get the work done. All the politics of it are not something I enjoy. I’m good at it but I hate that part of it.
I prefer to be a worker bee but again, i’m good when I take something on and become a target from other worker bees. So I’m just done with group work at all I think. As long as I can do my own thing and be left to it and contribute, great. But to be on the firing line or someone making it hard to do my work sours the whole experience. Also, if other worker bees are problem makers in general, that makes me exit fast. Life is too short for that and i’ve lived enough of that. I want to feel good about whatever I do so anyone negative, with moon in 10th I guess and MC in pisces, that doesn’t work for me.
I accepted the position, because I meant to serve the club. As it turned out, I am not that good at this, and think I could better serve the club, working behind the scenes.
I want to be a helper weasel, lol,
See, for me…I also volunteered to visit people in the hospital this year. I like that a lot better. Someone else co-ordinates this and trains everyone. I just do what I signed up to do, diligently, to the best of my ability. I have also volunteered to fill in for others, for any reason, on short notice and this is what I like.
I want to be on a team, and I will be an excellent person to have, but I do not want to be the Captain.
I’ve been told that I’d be a good boss; in particular, people have cited my ability to be diplomatic and fair. However, I lack the patience to deal with interpersonal drama/politics and people who are out for their own self-interest than for getting things done. It’s much simpler just to be a worker bee, IMO.
Aries in the 10th, if using equal houes. There are no planets, etc. in it.
oh yes! i love being the leader of the group!
i am fair yet decisive- a natural leader.
-especially when there is other
peoples money involved.
astrology: (cap rising) saturn rules chart.
responsible.
11th house scorpio sun.
works best in group settings, know when to shut-up
understand that being the leader is listening
pluto in libra 10th house uranus on the mc in libra…
bring into a public situation quiet diplomacy
and innovation.
saturn in cancer 7th house- i care about you.
mars in aries- lets get the show on the road and the
job done! hahaha!
I commend you greatly for your efforts as President of one of the oldest Women organization in America. Not a job to be taken lightly or to be made light of by anyone. Very important job! You are so right it is a political position I don’t know of many who could take that position on.
However I would never be able to do it my self. I have and will always be a worker bee. I am very happy working behind the seen. I want none of the lime light recognition yes but please don’t make a big to do about it. Truly just a thank you from the one I help is all I ever want.
Late Pisces MC, empty 10th. I prefer not to have the responsibility of leadership since it stresses me out.
I am a Virgo with a Gemini moon, and my tenth house is Libra. So maybe I will find my balance in my leadership energy through a career in politics.
The tenth house is ruled by Saturn and Capricorn… and I have a stellarium in Capricorn and it was dangerously close to being my ascending sign.
That being said I am a major community service junkie. I enjoy pageantry for the sole reason that, it gives me a reason to go volunteer. A majored in political science and I wouldn’t mind being the president one day.
I have Saturn in the 10th house but zero desire to lead. I would much rather work behind the scenes as a worker bee.
I have my 10th house starting at 1degree Capricorn. I tend to manage a lot of things. But my Scorpio cluster would rather be the power behind the throne rather than visible.
I’ve already talked with you about this Elsa, and you are so right! Even though my Leo Sun and Aries MC/ 10th house keep putting me into leadership positions, I have too much Virgo to be truly happy or comfortable there. I am happier being a worker bee (but I need to be a worker bee with lots of freedom!)
moon and mars in Aries in the 10th. You would think I’d be a natural and enthusiastic leader, but I’m a 12th house sun with Pisces midchart and Chiron in Pisces.
I prefer to shine in the worker bee capacity. Though Uranus in Leo does want to be charismatic from time to time…
It’s a harsh lesson to learn, that you dislike for which you have talent, sometimes prodigiously so.
Learned it for the first time at age 16. Learned it again, lately.
You survive it and you go in another direction.
I have Mercury and the Sun in Cancer in the 10th.
This is interesting to me because my fiance and I have such different 10th Houses. (I also have NN in my 10th). He has 10th House Sun/Mercury/Venus/MC in Leo…born to lead. He has been fired so many times, lol.
Now he has his own business and it’s going from strength to strength. He was born to lead. Me–if I do it’s by accident and then I want to yell at the people behind me to stop following me because they’re making me nervous.
I was recently hired as an executive assistant. I’m good at that–helping the person on top. As for being that person, no thanks. I was born to be someone’s right hand woman.
I think I would only make a good absentee president. I tend to have good judgement and act fairly, but I am very hands off. I would not be a micromanager that would drive me crazy. I have Pisces MC. Only BML resides in my 10th. The organization I was president of would have to be a weird one haha.
Saturn rx/Pluto rx in Libra 1oth, I’m a good organizer, planner, and can make the blind see with all my highlighting but I don’t think I’d feel comfortable in a leadership position. I don’t like telling people what to do.. I’d like to have my own business one day but know I would have a hard time asking for help and delegating, instead I know I would just try to do everything myself!
zero political skills….empty 10th house
“I have Saturn in the 10th house but zero desire to lead. I would much rather work behind the scenes as a worker bee.”
Seconded. No interest in having those levels of stress in my life.
Been there, done that. Not happy being leadership. But I do like being the behind the scenes person pulling the levers…
I waffle on this. I prefer to work independently with camaraderieship on an “as needed” basis. I have leadership “potential” but like you Elsa, it drains me. Aries midheaven and Mars in the 10th–I NEED my autonomy and cannot have a boss breathing down my neck. So, I prefer to be my own leader!

I can make a good founder, but not a good president. I just get too bored. Aries in 10th.
I definitely feel that I am a follower in general. At the most, I’m good at “leading from behind.” People try to put me in leadership roles but it’s never a good fit. Leave me in the back and I can motivate and lead the stragglers, but I can’t do that in the front. I need to be in the trenches.
