I used to write quite a bit about trends in the collective (see category). This has been an strong area of interest for me since I was a teenager. It’s one of the reasons I decided to study astrology so fervently. Simply put, I like to know what is going on!
With Uranus squaring Pluto into 2015, things will be unsettled to say the least. I have strong feelings around how things are going to shake out but my views create consternation and fallout that corresponds with that.
Due to this, I choose to keep my mouth shut but I am still super interested in this topic and I wonder if other braver (and less exposed) souls might want to weigh in on where they see our society, or any segment of our society, headed at this point in time.
Anyone?

I’ve said this on these boards before. I think that we really will be learning to do more with less. And those of us who don’t will be less effective. Pluto in Sagittarius has been hard for people to recover from. That bigger is better and more is even better.
I also think that we will be dealing with our definition of authority (Pluto in Capricorn). We are already dealing with our collective authority figures falling from grace in a huge way. IE Jerry Sandusky…
I’m hoping that on the positive side of these trends, we will have more empowering authority over our individual selves as we see our shadow in wanting to control others. I also hope that a quality over quantity mindset infects our culture. Quality made goods, service and food. Our current ways are unsustainable as they use too many resources. The quicker we learn and work at something more efficient, the better.
Either we learn to do with less or we are forced to do with less.
I am thinking about the whole idea of collapsed foundations with regard to all of this. The civil liberties issue, for example, has long degenerated into “I want what I want when I want it” instead of the nation guarding liberties for all. Greed has gone unchecked by many, at the expense of the whole. I may be wrong about this, but I thought the foundation of the country was once about hard work, consideration for your community, etc. I don’t think we’ve maintained the foundation, and I wonder if it’s too late to fix it.
I’m horrible at ‘trends in the collective’. I do find it interesting, but am no good at predicting it,
Angie
I’m really interested in this but apart from being very concerned about it, I know nothing about what to expect. What others said above sounds right, worldwide though – not just in USA. Hard times. No free passes or free rides. Like the Great Depression maybe? And then I think of the rise of the Nazi movement and world wars. I hope it doesn’t get that bad but I just don’t know. Feels like the worst of the worst can and might happen.
I think collapsed foundations is what we are talking about, when Pluto was in Sagittarius we lost our perspective on what is important, common sense type stuff, like for instance something like 80% of Baby Boomers have no savings or money in their retirement accounts, that is a scary statistic, because these people made more money than anyone in history, they can”t save a nickel for their future, it is dysfunctional. Pluto in Capricorn, the collective is going through withdraw or realignment.Ancient Rome nearly collapsed when Pluto was in Sagittarius due to it”s decadence lack of humanity, then recovered when Pluto entered Capricorn allowing Christians to practice their religion, and not be fed to the lions, ect.
caribou- Then Great Depression and the Nazi movement was more of a Saturn square Pluto deal,I think.
Grinding poverty, no more middle class or illusion thereof. The individualistic attitude will mean that the poverty will not be eased with the help of church, friends, or family in the manner one might hope or expect.
Historically there is a strong correlation between authoritarian governments and fear/uncertainty amongst the populace where their next meal is coming from. Note, that is not causation but that the two are often partnered and I expect that as fear is spread and food becomes more expensive. People will turn to whomever can give them hope or some context for what is happening – whether that hope/context is based in reality or not.
So the more you fear your neighbor and the less you work towards community – church, social groups, etc. etc. the more likely your local, state, national government ends up authoritarian… Good reason to dump the fear and start doing something positive to connect people and help people around you.
The two-party polarization means that you have to throw your vote to somebody who says a few things you agree with but perhaps has strong positions that you think are terrible. That is very strange. It’s like we now have to buy into things all the way or we can’t belong.
Maybe people will just say no to having to lie to themselves or pretend to buy in when they really don’t. That would certainly shake things up. The word unsustainable fits. The election process is ridiculous. The degree to which we have to talk the party line just to keep a job is ridiculous. People are naturally afraid of chaos and fear often makes people more prone to domination.
I have mixed feelings about how rough or smooth the transition might be, but obviously the times they are a’changing. The Occupy movement has been a game changer just because it gave people a taste of what it looks like for people who are change agents to function together without giving up their own ideas and autonomy. IOW they didn’t have to pledge allegiance to the Reich, or to anybody at all.
I´m from Sweden and our economy is coping fairly well – we don´t have Euro..But I now that the end of last year it was Very close to a collapse for the European banks..and Sweden is a small country so we are very influenced by the big economies like the USA..The situation for your country..I read that your dept is as big as Greece really..
Sorry about the spelling – it is Debt..
I think we are going to see a lot of scrambling for regain of control by entities that are (or feel as if they are) losing it.
I think we will need a laser beam focus and boundaries that are strongly intact so that we may discern between where our focus should lie and where it should not.
I think we had better become 100% sure of where our resources are.
And, lately, I’ve been wondering if somewhere in our earthly history if there has ever been a third side. You know what I mean? You have this group pushing this agenda against this group that is pushing this agenda. Has there ever been a third group? Perhaps a mediation group? Or one that stands to the side while the two aforementioned obliterate themselves and all that surrounds them.
Wondering about that..
THE GREAT T-SQUARE says there is a third side
I awoke this morning from a dream I cannot remember–with a question searing and pounding through me…
“What is worth saving?”
To what end and at what sacrifice were subthemes, but the question has been dogging me ever since–in every possible context…
“What is worth saving?”
for me I simply see “twin towers” a warning of global collapse, 1st one, like the first financial collapse, destabilised the global structure/building, people getting in there to save what they can including entering the 2nd building or structure that seems to be unaffected, then the second hit which I feel is about to come and yes globally, which will bring the whole lot down and everything around it.
Sounds like doom and gloom eh? but to me, why try to renovate a structure that is beyond repair just because we dont want that one to go as disheveled as it may be, sometimes its better and only logical to demolish and start again.
Yes I do believe we will all either get used to less, and those who have lived in poverty and know how to survive will become valuable teachers, or suffer and succomb to it. Greed has been out of control for a long long time, most people dont even realise they are being greedy as it is taught and therefore known and acceptable societal belief. Sad but true, when folk wont give up their luxuries for others who dont have there needs, for whatever reason, greed prevails, to me and even if i only had only 2 loaves of bread to eat but my family only needed 1 that day and my neighbour had none, well it would be my pleasure to share. Nope Im not a martyr, just a realist and an idealist married all together, once apon a time, that was what community was about, till it died….
But yeah just my view through my rose coloured glasses which i wear half way down my nose so i am able to keep a clear view of reality too
I’m so ready for a third party.
I’m tired of my benefits going to people who aren’t willing to work for a living. There is a sense of entitlement that is incredible to me…I work in a pharmacy and I see more of it than I’d like to.
I’m also tired of tax breaks and loopholes for wealth.
There is a middle class holding this all together, but it seems lately there is a systematic destruction that I don’t understand. Who will buy their products?
@Josi–the wise ones.
@Ulrika, yes, the US is very good at denial/delusion about how far in debt we really are. People want to feel secure, so they spend what they don’t have. They are in debt, but they have “stuff,” and the moneylenders profit tremendously. Very strange. The country is like a watermelon standing on toothpicks.
There has been a huge and determined push from those in power in recent years – political and economic power – to consolidate what they have and to draw ever more to themselves.
This can be seen in every area of the global scenario: the EU, the UN, the push for supra-national ‘World Government’ using NGOs as a vehicle, a corrupt supra-national banking system that enables the powerful to move money on a whim beyond the power of laws – think George Soros and his ilk, the monstrous agglomeration of power over the world food sources and supply by unaccountable entities such as Dow and Monsanto, the international attempt to divert capital from the West using the AGW scam… you can complete your own list.
The coming battle if there is to be one will be between this galloping centralisation of resources and power over them, and the people, if they can be persuaded to fight it. Sadly, in most countries the education system and a supine media are doing their best to ensure the people don’t notice what’s happening.
I sat in on a classroom full of 11 & 12-year-olds today. I watched the teacher deliver a lesson on what the word perseverance means. It is one of the mandatory key words taught in the curriculum. She spent 90 minutes (double-blocked English/Language Arts/Reading… I know, it sounds stupid). “Is it better to be good at something, or to have to work hard to get good at it?” One of the kids says that it would be better to just have the skill off the bat. The teacher says, really?
What a weird value-laden cluster. What business is it of education to place superior value on either side of that coin? It’s almost like conditioning toward seeing virtue in being long-suffering slaves of the system. The teachers don’t even know who they are anymore.

I think that we are the brink of losing our civil liberties. Sadly, people are so involved with being conservative or liberal, republican or democrat, they are not seeing how both parties in the executive branch are destroying our civil liberties with detentions without due process, shoot to kill, denial of right to counsel, and suppression of free speech. Congress except for a few brave souls is corrupt and serves special interest. I think the the Republicans win in Nov. will be a nightmare for the economy and the middle class. But Obama and Romney both represent the destruction of our civil liberties. It is not an issue in this election because both parties are involved in this process. So we can either wake up as a nation And fight for our civil liberties. Or we can lose them.
