Fashion Through The Zodiac
Hello Capricorn women! Those who dress for a Capricorn Sun, Moon, Venus, rising or heavy aspect are women who have a distinctive way of dressing that gives them a level of authority while also expressing their individual style. Still there are things that a Capricorn dresser will not do. A Capricorn-type dresser is not one to serve up their breasts on a platter in what they wear. They are not ones to wear something too tight on their butt or anything in the realm of “sausage fashion!” A Cappy dresser has some class and can be defined by their clothes and know it!
A Cappy is climbing and what I find the best thing for a Capricorn dresser to do is to dress for where they are going, not for where they are. For example, if you are pushing for a raise, a position higher than the one you have or an upgrade in friends, you must dress the part before you get there! This works and looking like where you want to be in life gets you there faster than you can imagine. Start your engines and get some ideas here for fall. Beef up your wardrobe as if it is a costume to help you achieve, which is is, and have some fun while you do it!
Capricorn women need to be a bit dressed at all times unless their career calls for jeans and t-shirts. If this is the case, I suggest you upgrade your jeans and your T. shirts! Post questions on how to do this because it can be done! This season, as last, color blocking is very hot and very good for the Capricorn type. Color blocking involves wearing clothing that has blocks of colors and wearing bold colors with other bold colors to make your own color blocking. Examples like green skirts, pink blouses and orange cropped sweater all together work well and look new. Dresses with colors in blocks or bold stripes in colors such as orange, purple and mustard look fresh and yes, professional. You can find blouses with two different colors or mix your own colors by buying bold-colored pieces and mixing them. I suggest you mix colors that are a bit unique like mustard, coral and other colors that are not crayon colors you find in the seven color box! Go for the box of crayon colors that has one hundred colors and mix and match your own look! This is a great office look and one you can build on as it is likely to last.
Graphic prints also shout “Capricorn!” Graphic patterns on skirts, dresses, pants and blouses are fun now for Cappy, and it works well into your black pieces if you work with black and white graphic prints. White and black graphic prints are the easiest to work with because you can pair them with your black pieces from seasons past and look new! Often done in stripes, checks and other patterns, these graphic prints also mix well with your current wardrobe. Cappy-type dressers love to build a wardrobe and are not so likely to throw out the old wardrobe for the new. Play with a graphic blouse over a solid skirt or new, loose-fitting pant of one color. Try graphic prints with one another in new long lean looks such as long maxi skirts with flowy shirts in one graphic print. Prints look great now when you match them top and bottom for one put together look that helps you look taller and wakes up the viewer to something new! It has been since the 80′s really since we have been able to mix the same print on top and bottom and this is a commanding look for the Capricorn dresser! Mix prints that are on the smaller side for a look that is less shocking and more put together. Try breaking up these prints for more outfits if you must dress for your job every day.
Dressing in all black or all winter white is also happening at this time or dressing in one color. This look is amazing on Capricorn types because it is so powerful and they can pull it off. Whether it’s a mix of prints that match, don’t match or all one color, the idea is to be bold and you are good at that but remember to put it into your clothing! Sometimes the Capricorn dresser is most comfortable in earth tones and all this can be done in earth tones as well.
A Capricorn dresser is one that takes to the blazer, jacket, sweater or other cover up. Blazers this year are are, I’m happy to report, roomier and boxier than the last seasons! Blazers, jackets and coats are oversized with room to move and wear things under them, even sweats. You can find them in shapes that are original and fun now but that still give the look of being pulled together. If you are a Cappy-dressing woman who needs to wear jeans or pants every day you could try wearing a new blazer with your pants or jeans and throw them on top of whatever blouse or sweater you are wearing to look more professional. Cappy dressers love the look of blazers and jackets over their outfits and they give the Cappy type a level of authority when worn. Try the new oversized or boxy blazer or jacket and wear it over all your looks! To be known for you great jacket or blazer is a good thing and something that is full of class when most people throw on a coat that they take off early and don’t have anything over their outfit for most the day. Keeping a blazer or light jacket on is something that makes a Cappy type feel stronger and helps them look like they know what is happening and you can bet they do! Just about every Cappy needs a raise or a promotion if not both so why not dress to let them know this? Nothing helps the Cappy more than the right look so throw on the right clothing to let them know who you are and to have a firm foot on the level you are at this time.
The Capricorn-type dresser understands the need for a good shoe. If they are laborers and working with their hands they will have the very best boots they can afford and if they work in the higher levels of fashion they will have the latest and greatest heel ever on their feet. They understand that the shoe makes the woman or man and one can tell a lot by the shoes you are wearing. I suggest that Cappy types have fewer shoes but better shoes. By this I mean if you can only buy one or two shoes this season, make them the best shoes you can by saving money and not buying tons of cheaper shoes to make it look like you have a lot. Invest in shoes and they will never go out of style. Boots this season often have a platform but the good news is they don’t always have a high platform. It doesn’t matter what sort of shoe you are buying; they will have color blocking on them very often and two to three colors. Don’t let this throw you: rejoice in this trend that is a good one and makes your looks interesting. There are tons of choices in black and white from oxfords to pumps. Often the heel of a shoe will be different from the body of the shoe and look smashing. There are great flat boots available for those who like to be comfy but remember to have them fit your leg for a smooth look. Choose a boot or bootie that looks great with pants and with dresses and skirts for the most bang for your buck and so you can enjoy them more!
Heels are a bit thicker now and are slowly moving away from the stiletto heel. The thick look looks better with today’s wider and unique shapes coming out in all sorts of clothing. There are great black and white upper-line tennis shoes for those who like to wear them to work and then change or for those who wear them to work! Often heels are bejeweled and this look for the heel has been around a bit. Heels are a bit funky which is not really you but the new thicker heel is very you and very forties! I recommend a good height but not too high so you have some presence in the shoe or boot. But a shoe that is too high is just not Cappy unless the work they do commands it! Don’t be afraid to try a platform if it has a look for a forties shoe because you can pull it off. The idea is to buy a few pair of really good shoes and make yourself a statement in them before buying all sorts of so-so shoes that are not good enough for you!
Cappy-type dressers have been known to get up early enough to work on their hair before they hit the office. They want to show up looking pulled together but not freaky. This is fine but I recommend a great cut and a hairstylist that will help you learn to style your hair in the least amount of time with the right product. There are new techniques for cutting curls that help your hair curl without having to put in a ton of rollers or use that curling iron until your hair burns. Look for a good cut no matter if you pay a bit more for it will pay off. If your hair is curly don’t fight it and try to find a cut and style that is “you” and that can be taken care of with less fuss. Curly hair that can be tamed with product and blown dry with a diffuser about every third day is ideal. If you have straight and thin hair look for thickening shampoo and conditioner and add product to add texture. Try drying hair less and using more product. If you must curl your hair every day try curling just the ends or the layers now instead of curling your long hair all the way down the shaft. If you have thin hair, try using highlights or panels of color to give your hair a thicker look and use the right product to take good care of it. There is no reason you have to have dry hair now with all the products on the market and no reason for frizz or flyaways.
Straightened hair is about gone, thank God, so try to work with your straight hair with a blow dryer or with product to give it texture and a diffuser while you lift the ends. Healthy hair is what you want, Cappy, above anything else! Braids or ponytails to the side look great and as I said in a previous article, there are new braiding techniques that braid the hair across the bangs and such that look new and are very professional looking. If you keep your hair to your chin or shoulders where it is easy to care for, try adding product for a new look to your hair if it just hangs. Try getting a wispy cut and pull out the wispy pieces with product when you dry your hair or prepare to go out.
Cappy types look best in natural hair color so don’t stray away from your natural color when you chose tint. If you have brown hair try enriching your shade and keeping it closer to your natural color. I should mention here that those Cappys that go grey often look great wearing their gray hair! If you have a stripe of grey hair why not go with it and have it brightened to a glossy grey color! Capricorn dressers are not one to fight age and are more likely to embrace it. So keep with your natural color and just punch it up for more drama and to look more professional.
There’s much more to say, of course, Cappy dressers! I have strong Capricorn myself so I know how you feel when you look for things to wear! Ask your questions and tell your stories because I love to hear them! The Capricorn dresser is an investor which I love about them! They think of their future when they dress which is best, no question. Hopefully you have some new ideas here you can use to get dressed for your future and know I will be writing some more fashion articles touching on Cappy style in the near future! Happy dressing!
