Fall Fashions By The Signs, 2012: Libra
Fashion Through The Zodiac
Hello Libra people! Whether you dress for a Libra Sun, Moon, rising, Venus or even Mars, if you dress for Libra, one eye is on the lady at all times. I think of you as the decorator for you decorate yourself and love to decorate other things as well. One of the best dressers in the zodiac, you are always turned out in what is appropriate and often show others who are less inclined to dress well how it’s done! Getting you to dip your toe in the wild pond when it comes to fashion is a very hard thing and I’m not here to change you, because I adore your style and find it entertaining, one of the fun to watch when it comes to fashion. You think through your shorts, shirts, sweatpants and tennies as much as you think of your office wear and what you wear to this year’s Christmas party. More power to you, Libra; keep us all in check as you go through your day dressed as peachy as can be!
Libra-type dressers often have dresses and skirts even if they don’t have to wear them to work. Ladies all the way, they dress each day for what is happening and are never caught off guard when it comes to having something to wear to someplace nice. This year we have a few changes that may interest you when you add pieces or build on your wardrobe. If you add one piece to your wardrobe consider the new matching coats and pants that are out this season. For some time we have seen patterned pants but this season we are seeing patterned pants and skirts, with matching jackets and even capes. The patterns are matchy matchy and are very ladylike and just what you need for a shot in the arm. Choosing a subtle pattern is best for you in a classic color like navy or brown. Choose a jacket that is not too wild of a shape and think about pants cut with straight legs that are close to the body. You can do this look and look so very pulled together while this trend lasts and you can break it up later when the fashion switches It reminds me a bit of the 80′s when you look at some of the wilder patterns and shapes of matching pieces but some are done in very good taste. For you I like matching jackets or blazers that are close to the body with matching slim-legged pants or pencil skirts.
Another thing that may interest you is that the peplum is very popular and the waist is back. No one wears a true waist like a Libra-type dresser who is a lady through and through. Back are the skinny belts on skirts and nipped in waist in dresses and jackets. Choose patterns when you choose these dresses that come, at times, with exaggerated hips! Yes, these dresses are cut wide at the hem to give you that hourglass shape whether you have hips or not! Think of tops cut in at the waist over pencil-shaped skirts or skinny pants. Dresses come with built in hips that are larger than your own hip line to give you a modern shape. The dresses are most often patterned and again I suggest you choose a subtle pattern to match your proper dressing. Go ahead and pop a skinny belt if you find one you love and your new dress is complete. You rarely skip accessories and this year you might like to collect some fine, skinny belts.
Brocade is big this year and if you get into this trend, for Libra type dressers I suggest one piece of brocade instead of a full suit of brocade as is the trend. Try a brocade skirt or brocade pants to get yourself in the feel of it but not take it over the top. Brocade can add pounds so one piece would be nice and will not tip your figure over the edge. Brocade looks best in the winter months and during the holidays so you might want to hold off on these offerings until later in the season. As I have been advising recently, I recommend you choose a brocade pattern that is classic to really do it right for you who are Libra types and who don’t like to tip the boat but do like to keep it afloat with complete class.
For your casual days, sportswear is done in a fashion that can be worn anywhere you go, and you will find a continuation of the style like the nautical that was so popular for Spring. Whether it is a tennis dress done over or sweatpants done upper line, the athletic trend will continue. The Olympics spiked this trend and it will continue into fall. If you indulged in any pieces of upper line cuts that resemble sports wear feel free to continue that trend into the fall.
Shoes for you are going to be about resisting the outrageous and sticking to what is truly stylish and wearable without stopping the room. You can still pull off your kitten heels and now they have pointed toes. Kitten heels are being done in every price point and Libra dresser, you make them look like they were made for you! You may be tempted by the ballet slipper that dominates at this time but you look better in a real shoe and a kitten heel works wonders with any leg. Booties that come to the ankle will suit you well if they are one or two toned in colors that are classic. Think of navy, brown, black or even a forest green for these booties and they come in wedges, platforms and heels. For Libra types I like classic heels or wedges and I think leaving the exaggerated platforms for others is a great idea. Pumps, Booties, boots and oxfords often come two toned and sometimes the tones are on the heel and body of the shoe or another way to do them is to find the oxford that is two toned with the different color in the middle. If you like oxfords with your pants it’s a good time to buy them and I love the two toned ones the best. If the Libra-type dresser is going to invest in shoes I think the one toned suits them best but a jeweled heel done in a nice way will fit them as well. Invest in shoes this season because they are new, exciting and a way to really kick up your wardrobe with one piece.
Libra dressers, if you are looking for a change in hairstyles or color this season think first about rich color. Color is richer, a bit darker and cut to different lengths than seasons past. The way of finished hair is updated and the years of spiral curls on long hair is leaving us. You would do well to choose a style that is to your chin, your shoulders or long. When your hair is to your chin or shoulders it can frame your face with wispy layers and look smashing. If you have long hair and will not part with it you will want to start curling just the bottom instead of spiraling around a curling iron to the top. Soft, ladylike curls look best with these new styles. If you have curly hair and prefer to leave it curly, be sure to tame it with products that add shine, control your curls and hold them well. If you use a diffuser and have curly hair, it is unlike you to diffuse your hair into a wild, big do. These are the days to add texture to your hair through product and color while you blow dry or use a diffuser by gently lifting your hair without pulling it out or making it “big.”
Long bangs are big this season so consider having yours cut or growing them out if they are long and sweeping them to the side. A side part still rules and middle parts are for women who are not Libra-type fashion people. As I have said in earlier articles, auburn in different shades is most popular right now, and again, they are rich. There are so many new professional color formulas now that it would be a good idea to shop around if your hairdresser is the type to use the same color product for years and years. Some coloring formulas used professionally add shine and condition the hair so are very much worth a try. Other new formulas have a deep and rich color system that is a step up from older formulas.
What looks good for Libra dressers this season? There is a great trend towards matte base or powder over your base, a stronger eye and eyebrow with nude or natural lips. When I say nude or natural lips I, of course, mean a lipstick that is a nude shade or one that completely takes the eye off the lips first which makes your eye jump out first. It is very proper yet fashion forward so if you have the notion of changing your makeup, consider this idea of putting the lips behind the rest of your face. If you wear this style you can pretty much skip the blush so the lip will be the second thing that is seen, full and seductive. The shape of your lips is still important so line your lip with a natural line or a line that matches your lipstick, and line it on the outside of your natural lip line, not on the inside.
Use a brow powder in short strokes to bring out the eyebrow, and have them shaped without having them turned into skinny lines that look like worms. It’s not that I don’t love a skinny eyebrow but not for you, Libra types, not for you. A natural shaping of your brow is best so have them done with a light hand and then keep them up yourself. You can have them redone only when they get away from you because your natural shape of brow is easy for you to keep up with plucking or wax.
Libra types, you have real fun decorating yourself and others. If you have questions, please post them or talk about your Libra-type dressing. Let us know which new trends you plan to embrace. As I said, you are fun to watch and always a treat to see! If you have questions about brands, just post them and if I don’t know the right answer, I will certainly consult the experts I know! Happy fall dressing. I know you will enjoy fall for you can wear new clothes and more clothes which you love. I’m sorry I could not touch on all aspects of fashion here but there is only so much space!

Josi, it’s so Libra to wear a dress even if you don’t have to as I said in the article! I say “Hooray!” that’s excellent!
I’m so pleased you exercise your God given right to decorate yourself and I’ll bet they love to watch you dress every day!
Jewwlry is still large and has moved from chains to other large piece. Antique jewelry will always be “in style” and hip and is a great way to coolect pieces that wiil alays be “in.”
I will touch upon jewelry trends in another post so look for it!
Annalisa, you certainly are into something with the Libra dresswearing. I’m a Libra who is not allowed to wear a dress to work (we have these semi-uniforms, usually some sort of matching tops), and obviously absolutely hate it.
I have a closet full of pretty dresses I can only take out on weekends.
That said, I also do pants quite a lot, and going through Autumn Fashion Reviews of various fashion magazines, this was the highlighted trend I liked the best. There was a MiuMiu suit simply to die for featured in our local Elle. The suit in the middle from the same collection is gorgeous too, and I must say, would be much more flattering on me and my hips. So, I’m now only waiting for COS to come up with their version of the look, with one less zero on the price tag!
I’ve got a Libra Midheaven and planets… I just basically own dresses, regardless!
And I’m growing my bangs to be a little longer.

I have to deepen my color as my hair keeps wanting to turn blondish for some reason. So, I do low lights with an auburn cast with just a few small lighter tones around my face. As a side note, if you have a few grays this helps them remain hidden without needing to be touched up as often and keeps you out of the bottle blond section.
I’m wanting to see what is up with jewelry. *drool* I’ve been going toward natural stones and non metal chains lately.
I always get teased for wearing dresses to work since most my interaction is over the phone or on the computer–I never see anyone. But..I see me. LOL. You know?
