This weekend Venus in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn. Old friends and lovers can pop up from the grave and terrorize the countryside in search of fresh brains to consume. Or it could be nice, it happens. With Venus trining Neptune in Pisces while Mercury quincunxes from Leo, it could also take the form of a mind trick, like a stranger butchering “Our Song” at karaoke.

Whether this happens for you or not, protection arises in the form of Saturn conjuncting Mars in Libra. This brings an energy that allows you to modulate your actions, judge the situation before you act. It slows things down and aids in reeling yourself in if you’re tempted to go too far out on a limb: balance.

Friday night the Moon in early Gemini feeds into the Mercury-Neptune aspect. It squares Neptune and sextiles Mercury. This lends the ability to assess a situation on both a rational and emotional level. If something “smells hinky”, you’ll feel it too. There’s a gut awareness if someone tries to feed you a line.

Saturday night the Moon conjuncts Jupiter and sextiles the Leo Sun. The emotional mood is less tuned in to the undertow of the Pluto and Neptune aspects and more apt to fire up the party and have a roaring good time. Later in the evening it applies into a trine with Mars and Saturn which bodes well for the evening ending within whatever parameters you define as a good time.

Overall it’s a great weekend for socializing and drama. Venus trine Neptune and Moon square Neptune heighten desire and blur out the rough edges. Venus aspecting Pluto takes it to a deeper level, but with the Moon in Gemini both nights its easier to keep the mood light. With Venus and Mercury both direct, this is good time to assess the romantic happenings of the past few months. Everything is clearer in hindsight and the Mercury-ruled Moon lends itself to illuminating information.
