Fall Fashions By The Signs, 2012: Cancer

Fashion Through The Zodiac

Fall Fashion CancerLuscious Cancer women or those who dress for Cancer love to flatter their womanly figure and know how to make the best of their curves! I am happy to say that although this is the year for the death of the cleavage-baring, empire waistline it is the rebirth of the curve silhouette! Hooray! The Cancer-type dresser is in her element when it comes to showing curves and she will take advantage of what is out there in new shapes that have a waist and an hourglass shape.

Not only is the hourglass shape with a true waist the big deal this season, fashion designers are adding extra fabric at the hips of many dresses to show an extreme hourglass shape! Now, most of us don’t want to have extra fabric sticking out from their hips but I predict this will translate into dresses with room for hips which will make the curvy or woman who loves curves that is the Cancer type pull out her wallet!

Dresses, as I have been saying, are patterned for the most part this season. Color blocking is still having a time in the limelight so if you like it you cannot go wrong with a color blocked dress. The thing our Cancer-type dresser may not like is that many of these new dresses are not low cut because the accent is to be on the waist and not on the cleavage! :) Oh well, you can “make it work” because the shape is hell bent on showing a ladies figure and the higher neckline still shows a great view of the ladies because it is a tailored and fitted dress that is close to the body. This shows your upper half very well even if it is in a way you must adjust to!

Try a print and remember that small prints normally look best on petite woman while larger prints can be rocked by taller or larger women. Think of your favorite color and find a dress or two, or three, that have this color in the print and that you find “classy” instead of “fun.” Yes, the look is ladylike and well put together instead of the loose fitting and wild baby doll that has been dominating the fashion for women for some years. Embrace the waist, look for pretty prints and think about the shape of your waist instead of your bosoms. It’s about time we thought about our waists and left the empire alone for a bit.

Lastly, I’d like to mention the new ways that faux fur is being used and how it can flatter the Cancer type. The new fur is about a trim around the waist of a dress or the sleeves of a sweater in fur and the rest knit; you get it, pieces that are partially fur. I like the cardigans that have faux fur sleeves for you, Cancer type dresser, it frames your bustline!

Pants and suits with pants also have this lean look so pants are mostly straight legged, although if you still embrace your inner bohemian, I’m sure it will play no matter what. After all, it’s what you feel and the “gypsy” look has taken over for the bohemian to allow just that sort of woman a chance to let her freak flag fly. If you love your look that is boho just add a few gypsy flairs and let it go for another season. Although Barbie would love these new clothes, there is still room for the romantic gypsy with tons of jewelry, funky belts, fringed clothing and yes, flared legs on pants. However, these new pants are slim and meant to be worn with the body hugging tops that are ladylike and printed with patterns like jacquard and brocade. Rich prints are hip and where it’s at these days. Expect this trend to last so far as the Barbie silhouette does. Face it, it’s time for a change and we have been seeing that empire waistline for so long it’s getting old to the eye! Embrace the new look even if you just buy a few fitted tops, a couple pencil skirts and a couple straight legged pants! Think about trying a blouse or dress that accents your waist and do those boring exercises that work so very well for trimming the waist (Yep, I said it)!

If you are a Cancer-type dresser you might have long hair and find it sensuous. Cancer types are nothing if not sensuous and their hair is often long for them, for their partner or for both. The hair is often long on the Cancer type for many reasons but the style is a bit different these days. Gone are the barrel type curls that everyone had when they wrapped their hair around a curling iron piece by piece. The ends of long hair are either a bit natural and beachy or lightly curled at the bottom with hair hanging straighter in between Not so many barrel curls but curly long hair is in if your curls are intense and you have that sort of curly hair that curls wild and natural on its own! If your hair is curly grab some oil, some crème or both and condition, condition, condition until your hair is lovely and shines and its curls spring and don’t frizz. Embrace your curls and stop straightening your hair, please! Let the natural curl come out and forget those hours of blow outs you have had to just get the look of the Kardashians!

Long layers looking natural are best and bangs swept to the side that Cancer-type dressers can use to peek out from under are very hip at this time. Yes, you know you do it, Cancer, that little peek from underneath your hair that works every time with your personality! I love it, people love it and you tend to do it. If your hair is short, go for longish bangs to peek through that are swept to the side and that are wispy but strong enough to be seen as a part of your hairstyle! There are plenty of Cancer-type dressers who know how to make short hair sexy and how to make it work for them! A bit of product with some light drying as you play your wispy pieces wherever you think they look best and you have a quickly styled do that works for you even if you are a Cancer type!

Sometimes a Cancer type has features that would look better if they would just cut their hair but they are so attached to that long hair and thinking it is the only way to appear sensuous that they cling to long hair when short hair would flatter so much better! Have a conversation with your hairdresser about shorter cuts and see if you are not the type of Cancer dresser than needs to lose a few inches to flatter their features, their face shape or just to give their face a lift, because long hair can pull the face down! Remember those long bangs and wisps and you can be right at home in shorter hair.

Makeup for a real Cancer-type women involves a more natural look than many signs, but don’t count them out, they wear makeup! A natural-type base that feels good on their skin is very like them but they may need an update on their base. Bases now days do things for your face. Bases lift skin, add light, and primers before your base do so many things for you that they are worth a look! The primer is new to some people and Cancer types sometimes stick with something too long, so looking at primers is something I would recommend for Cancer women. Smashbox cosmetics has many primers at decent prices and you might want to start with them. Find a great primer that does what you need such as hide pores or stop oil!

After a base a rosy cheek looks precious and Cancer women look best being precious (yes, I said that too)! It’s not that they are not powerful, they simply embrace their feminine side and do it well! I don’t always recommend blush to everyone but Cancer looks great with that sort of soft blush that is in a color they naturally blush. The next time you get your heart rate up, check your cheeks and you will see what color you naturally blush!

Top things off with mascara and do a liner that is smudged if you do one at all and apply it only on the upper lash line. This is a good step because it makes lashes look thicker but you can achieve that with a lash primer as well. Neatly groom your eyebrows, and I recommend you have them done professionally to get a shape you wear well and then do the upkeep yourself. Cancer woman are do-it-yourself types so learning then doing is the best way with makeup for you!

Lips should be rosy colored and welcoming instead of off putting, because a Cancer-type dresser likes to be accessible. Take it easy on your eye makeup and go for earth colors or ocean colors, but watch the blue, it can set you up for pushing some people back. A Cancer type is huggable and wants to be so. Nothing wrong with a huggable person, we need more hugs!

I have touched upon some areas for this season, Cancer type dressers and their friends, but if I missed an area you’d like advice on please feel free to post your questions! Add your dressing stories to give others ideas and find them yourself.

I also am very happy you are back to keeping us all updated and in season, Annalisa :) !!!

I will say that I’ll miss the empire dresses, maybe I should stock up, as I naturally have an empire/high waist and these dresses really do flatter my shape :) . I also am pretty happy about the higher on top, tops, I do like the less is more (cappy moon, lol!). I’m also scheduled in to see my hair guy this week, so I’ll be loosing some inches :) for fall :) . I do like that I, at least have the make up part right :) My mauve/rose lips & colors will be back in :)

Thanks Again Annalisa, can’t wait for scorp (it’s in aspect to all my chart) and cappy (for my moon/chart ruler),
Angie
