Finding The Right Man or Woman For You

July 11th, 2012 @ 5:45 am by Elsa

Ask the collective

Do you have a vision of who you’d like to partner with?  I’m asking because a client just asked my opinion of who would be right for her.

“I would take a completely different approach. You are so overwhelming Cardinal, I think you need someone similar just so you can relate. Someone with Aries and Capricorn would fill in the grand cross and complete a circuit.  Think about it.  Your whole life has such a Cardinal focus, how are you going to relate to someone who does not understand these energies?

Just imagine sticking someone’s planets in your chart. If they have Cardinal placements, it’s going to go bing, bing, bing, bing!”

This woman has her Sun, Moon, ascendent and 4 other planets in Cardinal signs. I just can’t seeing her having that much in common with someone who doesn’t have a serious backbone, where as if you put her in proximity to another strong Cardinal, something is bound to catch.

She’s working with me, right? Strong Libra and Cap.  We get along because were simpatico on some level.

Do you have an idea who would be right for you? Have you ever asked for a second opinion?

Hi Elsa, backbone is a funny thing. I am very Fixed, so I think I have a lot of backbone, too. But the man I most love (and all men I respect) are very Cardinal. The backbone is something that allows me to persevere and not relent until I meet someone with integrity and leadership. Also, people forget that Cancer is Cardinal. Loving men with soft touches can still be very dynamic.

I don’t have ANY idea! : ( But Saturn in Libra has made me question if I want a partner at all.

I could not agree more with this advice. I am heavily cardinal and it’s very hard to partner with someone who is not. My husband’s Capricorn sun falls on my vertex and makes my cardinal t-square into a grand cross. I have a lot of Aries and his descendant is in Aries. I really think this is a good idea for cardinal people, generally, and most especially for cardinal women. What fun is it to order someone around when they TAKE YOUR ORDERS? :)

I’ve always been attracted to a combo of Leo and Aquarius – men with a lot of Fixed energy. With my ton of cardinal, this was probably not ideal. Nobody ever wanted to adapt to change that much…

No I never asked for advice on this matter – attraction being such a personal thing. Passion was usually more important to me than getting settled anyway.

My ex did have more Cardinal than Fixed or Mutable though, so I guess we meshed on that level – we both wanted to ‘get things done’ and boy did we do that, the first few years we were together. Then when we got what we’d worked for – he wanted to be on his own again. Crazy stuff! He had Sun/Merc conjunct in Aqua, an Aries stellium, Moon in Cap – and Neptune at 1˚ Cancer

Yes, I do.

I haven’t asked for a second opinion but I remember having a consult with you Elsa, after my ex and I split. I was despondent about my financial situation and felt like I was a liability to anyone who would want to be with me. You’re response (about finding someone with compatible financial comfort levels) was very helpful.

I have found exactly that and am engaged to be married to someone with Sun/Mercury/Venus/MC in Leo.

Honestly, it never even occurred to me to think of these things while dating someone…Venus/Mars in Aries.

The funny thing though, is that while I thought ‘I never want to date another Cap Sun man’ I ended up with a man with Sun in his 10th. LOL

I’m pretty much balanced between Cardinal and Mutable – I usually go for guys who have Cardinal/Fixed or Mutable/Fixed. I’ve noticed that alot.

I think I do. I haven’t asked for a second opinion because nobody else on the planet gets who I go for and why. Seriously, nobody does and hasn’t even gotten close and I used to get crap for my choices. Or why can’t I like Mr. Nice Boring Guy? I wish I knew.

My daughter is Aries Sun and Mercury/Cancer Mars/Cancer Asc and she has a boyfriend who is Libra Sun and Mercury/Cap Moon/Aries Mars. They get along really well.
Actually, my older son is Aries Sun and Mars/Cancer Moon and his wife is Cancer Moon and Cap Mars. My younger son is Libra Sun/Cap Mars/Aries Asc and his girlfriend has Libra Mercury and Cap Mars. I hadn’t realised there was so much cardinal stuff in my family. Even I have Cap Moon and Aries Asc! And that’s not counting the cardinal ruled houses (1 and 10) that are prominent in my chart. I’ll have to think about that some more.

I have a fixed rising sign but a Mutable 7th house cusp, a Mutable MC and IC so I guess Mutable would be best looking at it that way. But my ex has the same, except all angles are mutable and his mutability drives me nuts. But that could be my Virgo Moon vs his Merc in Libra and Moon in Pisces. Just can never make up his mind and when he does, he changes it. I am always attracted to Cardinal men in general and they usually like me a lot to. So I have no clue really. As Elsa has put it I’m kind of swirled. I think relationship wise I am just doomed period.

I feel you, Dawn. Both my mars & venus are squared natally. :(

I have an idea what I’d like (nice to me, treats me as an equal partner, but still good sexual chemistry) especially after my saturn return in libra nightmare imprisoned by an aries, but finding that is another story altogether.

My 7th house cusp is in Aries, but (sorry no offense to Aries board members) they are usually mean to me, controlling, and selfish. I know they are trying to look out for what they think is best for me, but don’t actually listen to what I want/need. I’m bad with conflict and they seem to love it, so I don’t feel that’s a good mix for me anymore even though the attraction is always so strong.

I have two fixed planets, sun: leo, taurus: moon;
three cardinal planets, mars: cancer, pluto: libra, saturn: libra;
and five planets (seven if you count chiron and true node in gemini) in mutable: mercury & venus: virgo; jupiter, uranus & neptune in sag. I guess that means I should find a mutable person then? After dating a gemini for a significant period and getting lied to and cheated on a lot I feel like they are not the relationship/monogamy type. Sag men seem hard to nail down, too. A lot of my friends have been sag, they are so funny and we get along really well, but then I watch them cheat on their significant others so I think not for me.

I’ve always wanted to date a libra, though. I have my asc plus two planets there. They seem so nice and relationship oriented. Balance would be a good thing.

They have to be someone that I’m proud of. I don’t know the astrology.

My best friend says that the person for me has to be older and smart. According to her I have a low tolerance for stupidity.

I’m a strong cardinal as well. My guy’s chart is unusual. He’s a very strong mutable and only 1 cardinal planet but all of his planets are placed in cardinal houses except for that 1 cardinal planet. I don’t know what to read from that.

I’m heavy with cardinal and mutable energy, so no wonder I attract the cancer and capricorn types. But they’re not what I desire… which are the scorpio types of people :/

I used to have a rather simplistic understanding of who would match well…then I asked some older friends and people who have known me long-term and the responses were very surprising. Who I would probably work best with as a partner wasn’t who I liked or was aware of at all!

Astrology-wise, I’ve learned that even with all the mutable planets, my taurus/scorpio needs a foundation first. The rest feels like icing.

i am aries sun/cancer rising/cap moon with pisces in venus and mars in gemini. lots of cardinal with a good mix of mutable. i am strong but, i can also be flexible. i was with an aqua for awhile and we got a lot done but, it was more of an obi-wan (me) annaekin skywalker (him) relationship. not good in the long haul.

I have 7 planets in Cardinal.
Sun, Murc, Venus in Cap
Moon, Ascd,Saturn & Neptune in Libra
Uranus in Cancer.
Long term relationships have been with predominately fixed signs,Taurus & Scorpio, none with “forever” results.
A new for me is a mostly mutable man.It has been my recent 3 year exclusive relationship, but not living together, with a Gemini Sun, Sag moon and Cancer rising.Even he has fixed Venus and Mars in Taurus. This relationship has some obstacles that will probably prevent marriage.
Maybe I can learn something here ;-)
I wish there was a dating site that you could say I prefer this planetary configurations….

Im too fixed, and so far have been with mutables… i prefer somebody with different elements but they must be fixed enough to stick with me. i also want somebody with some fire in their chart to blaze me up as i have no fire at all!!! So Sags and Aries can apply :) ))
