Mars Ends Eight Month Long Transit Of Virgo For Libra – July 3, 2012 – End To Bickering – Aim To Get Along
My eye on the sky.
Mars goes retrograde approximately every two years. When Mars turns retrograde at early degree of a sign, he’ll retrograde into the prior sign so we see a shift in the energy. When Mars turns retrograde at a later degree, it’s possible the planet wind up stuck in one sign for the better part of a year which is what happened over the last eight months.
When Mars is stuck in a sign like this, whatever house it falls in, is going to stimulated the entire time. Few people enjoy this.
For example, Mars stuck in the 12th might see a person dream of war, sex, or violence in general. That’s cute until it goes on for eight months. Mars transiting the 12th might have a person imagining they are being attacked or they may deny a real attack, suffer a gas-lighting attack or whatever.
The point is that typically Mars moves through a house or an area of your life in two months and that’s doable. When he’s stuck in a sign for eight months, I don’t care who you are, he’s going to get you kicked up. On top of that, Virgos are battered. Gemini, Sagittarius and Pisces have also been agitated for a number of months and I don’t think anyone is going to mourn the fact that Mars is moving on.
That said, Mars is not well placed in Libra but hey! It’s still going to be an improvement. If you want to align with this shift, consider all the editing you’ve done with Mars in Virgo and think about how you’re going to take this public now.
Also, give up all the bickering and back-biting. The challenge (Mars) now is to get along (Libra).
How did you like this transit and how do you feel about it ending?

It’s been difficult since he’s been setting off my two Virgo/Pisces oppositions–mars/mercury, moon/jupiter. A lot of anger coming up, some paranoia, and although a lot dissipated once he went direct, I’ll be glad to see him out of Virgo. So nitpicky!
Yeah the 12th house transit is rough – buh bye Mars – tired of being suspicious of everyone and their motives.
Wow! What’s odd is I was slammed with way too much work and very little bickering. Toiling away saved me I think. It’s only in the past 30 days I’ve noticed bickering – me and others. Coincidentally, same time frame of easing off work finally!
WOW, this transit has made me all black and blue! For the first time, I’ve really struggled with everything! It was in my 9th and 8th house. And when it moves into Libra, I can be focused again, it’s still in my 9th house. But it’s going to be happy times!
Hooooray!
To say it’s been rough is a gross understatement. I’m a Sag, who lives with two Virgos and a Gemini. All four of us have been like sodium and water this year.
I, too, am tired of feeling like everyone is plotting against me. I’ve had to work twice as hard to reign in my brain as usual (I have a strong Neptune/Moon/Pluto aspect) and it has really taken a toll on a few relationships.
Mars has been in my 8th house. What a mess! So many deaths I have been hearing about and I think it’s definitely a death of some really crazy personalities which is great but it’s been really tough! I really need things to get normal again. What will happen when Mars is in Libra? Is it bad? Will it help improve things? Please some good things are needed to happen. Yesterday was a great day for me after a very long time. My major problems are not over but yesterday was definitely helpful. The Uranus Pluto square was good for me. I was surprised. Is this normal?
I’ve been paying so much attention to Saturn in Libra (conjuncting my Pluto) that I completely forgot about the Mars retrograde in Virgo that has moved back and forth in the degrees opposing both my Sun & Mars in Pisces.
Since Jan I have been working non-stop on finishing my MA poetry thesis and yet laying awake at night anxious about finding a job after I graduate. I am craving security and a steady schedule, totally unlike my usual hippie Piscean ways. As well I seem to be gravitating towards the healthcare, research & communications sector, all Virgo/Pisces related work. I just had an interview with a cancer-related nonprofit, perhaps after the 3rd I will have good news.
It’s been in my 12th/1st house and oh boy, I really had to make HUGE efforts to keep my head clear. I’ve been thinking some nasty nasty thoughts the last several months. Suffered a burn out, which started…. riiiight… eight months ago. Now thát’s interesting….
Mars has been transiting my 5th house. I have Taurus Mars, Capricorn Moon and Virgo Jupiter… I actually enjoyed all the creative stuff I’ve been doing. However, all my kids have been going through crap and that’s never fun.
I’m Virgo, Mars had made big big mess in my life, since Feb to end of May it was worse. Family is tearing apart, 3rd party became strong.
Elsa, when Mars will again come to my sun?? I would like to take some precaution, don’t want to go through the same mess again.
1. I wounded myself by cutting hand becasue hubby drived me crazy.
2. Was very close to car crash one morning.
3. Fidn out hubby’s secrect affair and does oral sex since 2010.
to much frustrations can’t able to bare
Natal mars rx loves transiting rx mars. There is less push push shove shove from others. It’s like vacation time every day. I am not always comfortable during this transit seeing others continue to push and fall on their face.
As this is my natal positioning I think it is fruitless for me normally to push anything. It just gets me in trouble.
Awesome picture btw!
This was one of the best transits of my life in a lot of ways. I did my meditation/shaman work during this time and finally healed one of my biggest blocks. Now I’m looking forward to mars in libra when I’ll date again from this new perspective.
Thanks Elsa for your reply, I would rather die before going through this kind of situation in my life again.
it’s been transiting my 12th house, & i can’t fucking wait for it to end. i have NO energy :/
I needed it in my 3rd to learn my new job but I won’t be sorry to see it go.
The square to my Sun/Mercury was not fun. The good news is I didn’t verbally blast anyone.
Mars is moving out of my 1st, at last, just in time for me to be done with my school hours AND graduated. I’m finally going to open that bottle of champagne I’ve been saving !
Mars moves out of my 12th house and crosses the Ascendant into the 1st today. Hallelujah!
Most of my personal planets are in Gemini plus Chiron in Sag. It’s been a time of physical weakness, restriction and frustration. And in March, at the time of the Full Moon in Virgo, I had to have my much loved cat put to sleep after 15 years.
Yes, I’m glad it’s over. Taught me patience but that’s about it. Not sure I would have coped without a knowledge of astrology
I’m delighted because my Sun in Gemini, Moon and Pluto in Virgo have taken me to hell.
Still, beware of the few days around the 16th to the 20th of July when Mars will be the 3rd leg of the Uranus-Pluto square! That could well spell extreme violence.
Crikey! I have been learning so much about Saturn in Libra (cosying up to my natal Pluto in Libra in 7th), that I totally didnt realise that Mars has also been chafing away back and forth over my natal Saturn in Libra in the 7th, opposing my moon and ascendant. As am amateur I dont know exactly what this means, but would hazard a guess that it explains why my shiny new lovely relationship started going down the pan around.. 8 months ago, coming to an almighty angry warring crescendo during May. Bickering and backbiting is an understatement. On the day that Mars was sat right on natal Saturn, and Saturn was sat right on natal Pluto, we surrendered and decided to have a break from eachother. Partly due to all sorts of other things in our lives going belly-up. Things feel much more peaceful, if a little melancholy. Im exhausted! Not out of the woods yet though i fear. ho hum!
Beeing a libra with 6 planets in libra, 2 in cancer, one in scorpio, one in sagg, one in pisces, mars transit through 3rd house didn’t afect me too much. It opposed Jupiter in 9th house, squared Neptune and sextile Mercury in 5th house. I was vary calm during this transit, which is a surprice to me. What happen in a bad way is that i gain weight (10kg) from 50 to 60 due to a lost pregnency. Else nothing happen, even my husband was ok, he is virgo…and mars transited his 4th house…no fights no nothing peace and quiet…:)
I’m eager for it. Having suffered through gaslighting attempts this year, I’m ready for some ‘let’s all get along’ in my life. My chart: Libra, Libra everywhere, and no reprieve in sight.
Had to laugh when I read “Few people enjoy this” (retrograde Mars sitting in a house for 8 months. Mars was in my first house. Fun!
Stabbed myself in the left hand with a knife in February, fleshy part of palm called “the Plain of Mars”. It healed then lump formed underneath and got infected and I had to get it lanced again. Mars retro, ouch!! Still has not healed properly. Difficult to get the work done on my house and I gave up on trying until it went direct, and things started to move again. A friend of mine Leo with lots of planets in Virgo broke her back and wrist jumping out a window last year and has been very snarky and very nit picky for months.
I truly loved this transit. Mars was in my natal house. Handlin’ business is my game!
Sorry, Saturn in *Virgo* in the 7th, obviously!
I’ve truly hated this transit… Mars stomping all over my Virgo stellium. “Battered” says it right!
I’ve absolutely loved it. 9th House for me–it gave me the final push I needed to graduate from university. It also regenerated my yoga practice and other spiritual studies.
It also gave me an AWESOME grand earth trine with my Taurus Sun/Capricorn Moon–my confidence has been boosted. I sorely needed this transit! Thank you Virgo!
i did lots and lots of coding. now i get a short break to have a baby. different kind of focus. i’m looking forward to a lot of it. even if i forget exactly how tired i was last time around..
Mars will be in my 1st house until August I suppose I will get some type of balance within myself on emotional independence and freedom.
As you would say, Elsa, LIBERATING!!!
If your natal Mars is in Aries and it’s moving into Libra now, does that mean you’ll have some stress or issues coming up?
