mars paintingPersonally, my Mars is broken in Libra. Mars shows how you get what you want. It shows how you hunt, how you get the man/woman and also how you take out an enemy. The problem with Mars in Libra is that Libra is nice. Libra is not actually any nicer than anyone else but they do have to act as if they are. This is their job on the planet.

This means I may want to kick your ass or hit you with a bat but the second I think it I realize that these are not “nice” things to do. Since I’m not allowed to disturb the peace, that plate does not crash down on top of your head – which believe me I regret.

The result of all this? Well no one is that nice, so when Libra blows – look out.

Mars is well placed in Aries, the sign it rules and the sign opposite Libra. Aries Mars throws the first punch, which everyone knows gives a clear advantage. It knows instinctively that “nice” is incongruous with war. Libra Mars wants to discuss the unpleasantness over dinner – Aries is going to have Libra for dinner.

Worse, if Libra does manage to strike it can only use the same amount of force that has been used against them…and probably just a slight bit less. The reason is that Libra must balance everything. You hit me with force of 10, and I hit back with force of 9.8. Why? Because this way, I’m the nice one. See how ridiculous this is?

Mars is also very well placed in Scorpio. Where Aries is overt (that’s their fist smashing into your face), an enemy with a Scorpio Mars will subtly dismantle you from the inside out using elaborate covert techniques. Where Aries will kick your ass in two seconds, a Scorpio Mars is much more insidious.

Scorpio has the poker face in the zodiac. They will lie in wait or perhaps slowly undermine you in a myriad of ways. Many of these will be psychological, Scorpio’s natural playground. Undercover cop? That’s a Scorpio Mars technique. You don’t know what’s happening until you’re in the bag.

The exalted placement for Mars is Capricorn. This is because Capricorn is goal-oriented and tenacious as hell. It just doesn’t quit until its goal is achieved. It’s a cautious planner who acts with integrity and so is nearly unbeatable. Think “controlled force.” They plan and have covered both their ass and anything your ass can possibly think of before they launch an attack. Further, they will keep going bumped, bruised, bloody, or whatever until victory is achieved.

Rash-acting Aries Mars can get in trouble when they punch a black-belt in karate on impulse because they did not take the time to size up the foe. Scorpio Mars can get in trouble when the psych games turn on them, and the cat becomes the mouse. Capricorn Mars is the creme de la creme and if you want to come out on top, you might pretend you have one.

Where is your Mars?

I have trouble seeing any placement of the planets as better or worse within any chart. It seems that people should be born with the planets exactly as they are. The chart shows how they can harness their energies to the maximum. This whole idea of exaltation and that there is a more perfect placement for the planets, just seems outdated to me. There is no one ideal way of being. We are all unique and should embrace and empower our idiosyncrasies. Yes?

Capricorn Mars, and indeed I am stubborn to the point of bloodymindedness. But I’ve got it in the 12th house, so I’ve also got that arrows underwater thing going on, and my entire chart is overshadowed to no small extent by my sun and stellium in Libra.

So I’m the nicest bloodyminded faith-based hunter you’re going to run across.

I don’t get what I want a lot of the time, I never get the guy and I wouldn’t have a clue how to take down an enemy. I usually figure this is because I wasn’t meant to have it, I didn’t really want the guy, and I’m too nice to have enemies. :-D

Oh I wish I had a Capricorn Mars! :)
I have Aries Mars ::coughs:: as well as Aries South Node.

I have seen the Aries ricochet effect you speak of.
I grew up thinking I was tougher than I was, which was good and bad. It didn’t stop me from being physically harmed, but it helped me feel like I could defend myself (even when I actually couldn’t).
My Aries Mars is also in aspect to Saturn, which is great because I think it helped me get a handle on my hothead impulses…pretty much most of the time.
The last time I lost it was during my SR (Leo) when my old neighbour started using crystal meth. He’d get SO out of it.

One night he almost set the 120 year old wooden house we lived in on fire with a shitty toaster oven. It caught fire and almost burned the house down. He put it out on the sidewalk to cool off and then started ranting about how he wanted to keep using it.

I didn’t say a word to him, but I went and got our axe and then smashed it to smithereens. He never said a word to me after that. My SO and our other neighbour (a Pisces with Aries ASC) thought it was hilarious, but I tell you, I went downstairs to see where the smoke was coming and seeing the flames LICKING the underbelly of MY FLOOR triggered my Mars with lightening speed. I’ve never been so thankful for my Mars than that night!

My Mars is in Capricorn and my sun and Asc. are in Pisces. I’ve been called stubborn. I usually try and have a well laid out plan before confronting someone or acting on something. When I’m done with something I’m done.

Virgo Mars in the 12th. It doesn’t seem very go-getting. But I also think it means kind of deep-rooted anger that explodes when it feels that is truly (and FINALLY) justified, like it needs all the proof and every benefit of the doubt given, THEN full-force lets out.

Then again, I’d also describe it as a hissing furball of a kitten that is pissed but not capable of doing much damage out of anger. Kinda victim-y.

I have Mars in Sagittarius. (Oddly enough, most of my planets hit in either Sag or Cap, which seem somewhat oppositional to me). I don’t know how that really plays out, but Astrolab interprets it to mean that I will “resist mightily” (Mars) attempts to limit my fredom (Sag) and have a tendency to stick up for anyone who feels put down or restricted, which sounds about right.

Scorpio mars in the 10th house and I have been living my chart.

I have always been a keen competitor for competition sake. I never bring a knife to a gun fight. I always have a B and C plan and have friends who bring their plans too.

I can lay out in the weeds for years and wait for you. I will find a way when a sane person says there is no way.

I’m like a little termite who has tunneled out the entire foundation beneath your floor. I’ll be waiting with the video cam for that minute when you try to stand up and walk across the floor but instead fall through it. You’ll never see it coming and I don’t care how long it takes.

I refuse the idea that there is no solution to a problem or satisfaction to be wrested from a situation.

I love the idea of stealth operations and believe knowledge is power. I have embarassed myself with my desire to win at any cost and its sometimes been in direct opposition to my better sense.

God help you if you hurt my feelings or do something to my child like this guy who has intentionally knocked out J’s tooth. My son hates this part of me – he calls it “Serial Mom. He is Libra Mars.

I am really into this vendatta thing today right?

With good reason- x Mr Wonderful is having a total jihad against me for the past 10 days. You know the guy with my clothing?

There is not a filter big enough to keep him out of my face.

He is Libra/Mars too and he’s not being polite, he’s not fighting fair, he’s not going away and I have no idea what else he wants from me except control. I better get my butt to the gym right now and let some of this go. :-)

well, p, while i don’t personally believe a chart can be “wrong,” i don’t question the idea that some placements provide a lot more challenges than others, and welcome the awareness that gives more options to harness my own strong points and compensate for those that are more challenging.

i’ve got scorpio mars as well; saturn trine gives me an exceptionally long fuse and, usually, significant self-control in the expression of anger. i also credit the saturn trine for the ability to follow through with long-term projects.

i’ve got some mercury mashup in the mix, so that along with the pluto stuff so my weapon of choice when I do hit back is almost always my mouth; generally related to calling out the dirty underbelly of a situation that’s been denied, hidden or repressed.

Doesn’t Saturn and Plutos placement affect the martian thing? Shouldn’t that be taken into account when you are talking about Mars? Isn’t Pluto the higher Octive of mars. Could having Pluto cycling over your moon possibly have triggered your mars in an eruption of feeling?

I don’t know – I am just asking – I am curious mostly.

I have Mars in Leo conjunct my ascendent, and had to learn to love my mars long ago. Yes I have long flowing blond hair – and yes I seem to gravitate toward leadership positions. That mars is 30 degrees exactly from Pluto in Virgo – and that Pluto sits on my north node. I always thought the energies were somehow connected.

I am still learning all this – so am open to interpretation and teaching.

Mars in Cancer. Which is supposedly in its fall. But I feel like this placement gives me alot of initiative to act on my emotions. Expressed negatively I can see this is as impulsive and reactive. But expressed in another way, I feel it helps me be true to myself. I also have an intense desire to express my emotions (being a musician….this helps alot) and I cant stand to play anything that isnt truly what I am feeling, or an expression of something deep within myself. So I think this placement can give integrity. I also have a deep desire to “plumb the depths” if you will. Introspection, and vision of the unconscious motives within myself, and others fascinate me (I also have saturn sitting in the middle of triple conjunction venus and jupiter in the 8th). I am very motivated career wise and have never found any lack of inspiration in that regard (thanks cap rising). Sexually I find that I am not interested in flings and only desire sex within committed relationships…..otherwise it just seems shallow to me. Anyone else with Mars in Cancer?

Mars doesnt need to be about fighting. Mars in Libra is perhaps the “animus increased”. Like a woman with Mars in Capricorn; she is going to find a way to deal with her extra testosterone levels.

Mars in Libra gets so tired of adapting or acting as you say and depending on where and what Venus is doing in the chart, there you will have your modus operandus.

Mars in Gemmini has two packages of anger.

Mars in Cap here. At 0 deg conjunct mercury.
So Pluto is going to hit this conjunction very soon. Like next week?
I’ve enrolled in higher education, oh the bureaucracy of this has been very tedious. So I figure pluto transitting my mars and mercury will assist in deep detective work, scouring the archives, digging deep…then being able to write it all out succinctly.
I try to be nice and polite too (Taurus Asc ?)but another aspect to mars placements is “Don’t try and stop me!” when on an action mission.
I figure this is an important part of mars in various signs/houses.
What happens when you are thwarted, stopped, negated, undermined – what will your mars do then?

Mars in Pisces, so most of the time I don’t care if somebody has done something to me, I just keep swimming. On the other hand, I feel vengeful if my loved one is attacked (Emphasis on FEEL tho’ and ultimately I’m probably just fantasizing about acting on the feeling.) BUT I’m married to a Scorpio Sun with Mars Capricorn and baby, he takes care of it for me in a way more calculated and relentless (and patiently planned) than I ever could. Capricorn Mars description above is spot on for him. And since both my sun and mars are in the 8th house, I have no problems using the resources of others to do my work for me!

If Mars has a mutual reception to another Planet then the nature of Mars is combined with that Planet in some way. Such as, if Mars is in Libra and Saturn is in Capricorn. Mars and Saturn have reception by Exaltation and therefore Mars will have much more direct action than just in Libra alone.

Nope, unfortunately not, because Saturn does not have any dignity in Aries except perhaps if in Terms with Mars. That maybe a connection if they are both in later degrees in those signs. Their opposite nature and individual strength (dignities) may allow for a wilfull polarisation in your case? In that case Mars actions could be temperred in other ways.

P–I also have Mars in Cancer and I think what you said was so well put. Sometimes I wish I had Mars in a more aggressive sign, but not really =).
I think with Mars being placed in my 9th house as well makes me super-duper introspective and interested in all things spiritual (not religious). You said “integrity” which struck me because my husband always tells me I have “awesome integrity”.
On the down side, I can over-analyze a situation to death until I decide to “not even go there”. It’d be nice to just jump into things and enjoy the ride. But then again, because of that characteristic, my twenties (I’m 27 now) have been practically peaceful and drama-free….which I appreciate and love. So really I’d have to say that I actually love my 9th house Mars in Cancer. Wow, never thought I’d say that.

I kinda always assumed Mars in Aries would be a disaster. Sun in Aries is agressive as it is!! But I sure do admire their blazin guns….unless their pointed at me :)

I have Mars in Aquarius. Conj ASC, trine Jupiter/Saturn, sextile Uran, square Pluto. I like to work on something for hours and hours and then I don’t want to work at all. e.g. I’ll write my 10 page paper in one day or stay up til 5am coding a website and then I am DONE. Is that consistent for most fixed sign Mars?

I think Mars is not the best planet to have on the ASC b/c it’s a malefic and if you’re female, it counteracts stereotypes so that you frequently go against the grain w/o wanting to be different. Frequently, Mars’ qualities are acceptable in men but not in women, which can be frustrating. Ppl often tell me I think like a man, whatever that means. I don’t think I do.

On the plus side, the placement gives you tons of energy and fight. I don’t know if it bestows genuine confidence, but it certainly gives you the balls to act like you do. Ppl tend to think I am “strong” in some kind of fundamental psychological way. Again, I disagree w/this assessment.

Perhaps Mars is an element of your persona that others see isthmus. Invariably planets on the ascendant like this do have a bearing on personality. It is also quite likely that others misunderstand who you really are and that can be perplexing. In fact I would imagine that you may attract competitiveness, where others will feel they can “mix or mess with your mars”. Takes a bit to get used to and to navigate diffrent outcomes with Mars in this location.

I think it certainly can be. I’m repeatedly described as fearless in love as well as challenge. I think having a close Venus conjunction tempers it somewhat.

Interesting to me is how my South Node, Venus Mars in Aries aspect my Aries Mum; my Pluto and North Node in Libra aspect my Libra Dad. I definitely learned how to fight from my Dad (he has Taurus Mars conjunct my Sun to the exact degree).
He never, ever picked a fight with anyone in his life, but when he got challenged to one (for example when he was in the Army) he would beat his opponent SOUNDLY.

What a wonderfully written piece on Mars. My ex husband (Westpoint) has Mars in Capricorn and it really is the cream de la cream. Fabulous placement for a military officer and commander of units (which he was). I think it was other stuff in his chart that made him keep his cool so well, which was a brilliant compliment to mars in capricorn, but it is a super nice placement.

Mars in Aries is too pushy for me. Anything in Aries seems pretty pushy to me. My own Venus in Aries in the W. chart seems to pushy to me and to lots of other people around me when it comes to certain matters.

Mars in Libra might be too polite, but Mars in Aries will just as soon shoot themselves in the foot than to take the appropriate amount of time to think something over. then again, it is probably great when someone needs to take action quickly. How about the ‘hero’ who pulls people out of fires? That seems like the most exalted use of mars in Aries.

I have Mars in Gemini which also must be broken because I still have broken glass all over my house from a temper tantrum from three days ago. Not only that, I ruined things that I cared about when I did that. Prints inside of frames getting all ripped up and so forth. Scrapes on the walls and chunks of missing paint.

Does anyone reckon that maybe that wasn’t my mars but more likely that thing about Taurus usually not getting all that mad but when they blow…duck and run for cover?

You know what I wish someone could explain to me?

Mars in Cancer here…. not as bad as its reputation :) but yeah, indirect that’s for sure. Although mine is conjunct Mercury…

I like a mild Mars. I knew a woman with her Mars in Cap in a grand cross natally and it was a constant battle of wills (with her), a new confrontation (which I “felt” as a fight) every day. (As a side note, I don’t mind fighting with men but HATE to fight with women.)

I have an easier time, generally, with the part of the chart that’s like mine: Cancer/Leo/Virgo…. and have a harder time (understanding, relating to) with my opposition and the signs surrounding them (Sag/Cap/Aqu)…

Kingsley, thanks for your thoughts. I’m not surprized by these ppl’s attitudes. I think both misconceptions are due to ppl making quick judgements based on superficial qualities, which is something we all do. e.g. I’m very direct and tend to eschew romance in dating which could be interpreted as “masculine.”

Kashmiri, good point about the Jupiter conj Saturn contact, I never thought of that. I assumed it might have to do w/the inertia of fixed signs – once they’re rolling, they’re hard to stop, but when they’ve stopped, hard to get rolling again!

It’s interesting reading people’s opinions on Mars in Pisces cause I have it myself and I don’t identify with passivity at all. I’m actually quite forceful and assertive. I defend myself extremely well. I can be pretty vicious with my words. I have my Mars in Pisces in the 8th house and Pluto in the 3rd house so getting nasty with people is not a problem at all. I kinda feel like I have Mars in Aries. I have Sun and Venus in Aries and when I’m really upset I flip out on people, sometimes yelling and screaming. I blow up very quickly and then when it’s over, it’s over. I can’t hold a grudge to save my life lol. Whenever I kiss and make up with someone I totally move on from whatever turmoil just occurred. I see no reason to hold grudges. I will never give someone that kind of power over me, where they affect me long after everything is said and done. “F” that! I guess i have aspects in my chart that alter my Mars in Pisces. I have Mars square Neptune by 3 degrees and Mars Trine Ascendant by less than 1 degree. I also have Sun square Ascendant by 4 degrees. Maybe those aspects also help beef up my Mars in Pisces lol.

((Elsa)) I have mercury and a stellum in Libra and I feel like a mealy-mouthed hypocrite a lot for being sweet when people don’t deserve it. I can only imagine Mars there would be worse.

I have Mars in Leo. Unlike Mars in Scorp, you can see a Leo attack coming from miles away. (It’s all the hot air.) Though I don’t attack a lot. Leo mars is like an offended lion. Sniffing haughtily and trying to look dignified. I think this makes people want to try to get under my skin. Like bear-baiting.

My mars is in Pisces, conjunct Mercury, trining my Scorp Moon/Rising. This is why I have to be very, very careful to ‘pick my battles’… When I go to war, it’s likely going to be ‘to the death’. I can easily sense your deepest emotional weakness and sting it with absolute accuracy. The best way I’ve learned to channel this is to only draw on it when I’m defending those that cannot defend themselves.

Mars in Capricorn in the 5th, conjunct my sun.

I’m all about calculated plans of attack, maximum effect for minimal effort, most bang for my buck. (My Virgo Moon/Saturn conj. trining this surely has an influence). With sun and 5th house involved (plus Leo asc.), it’s a huge plus if whatever I do is done stylishly, or at least garners appropriate attention and praise. ;)

I’ve been thinking about this dynamic in my chart a lot, recently. I read somewhere that sun/mars conjunct usually means physical vigor. There’s none of that here though. I’ve always been a low energy person. However, I’ve been watching myself in yoga class. Ya know, yoga, where movements are slow, fluid, and deliberate. But unless I make a conscious effort not to, my movements are always quick and sharp. That’s also how I take action. With all the earth and Saturn involved, I may take my time deciding what action to take, but once I’ve made up my mind, it’s as good as done.

This is fascinating and (ugh) quite timely..I’m still muddling through and scratching my head over my own chart, but…
Reading through the commentary on Mars in Pisces? I love water/oceans but never lose sight that it can and will ‘getcha’ faster than spit. If you’re lucky you might never see it coming. Riptides, leviathans, cataracts, barracuda, monster waves, rapids, giant clams, whirlpools and on and on…

Elevated by sign, dehabilitated by house. I guess that’s “I will assassinate you politely with 12235643-ton-paperwork-throwing-star, because you are being unfair.” I know you combine signs, houses and aspects to determine how a planet operates in a chart, but what’s the most important factor?

So my question is, why did you call your mars “broken” and why “exalted”? i’m sure you’ve got a reason, is it aspects or how well the planet gets along in the sign? do you mind the degree?

Mars in Pisces here.

Always reedy to defend the underdog. Fight for the weak and helpless. For myself…a bit passive aggressive. Too easily feel the victim. But Grand Trine between Mars, Sun, and Saturn give me strength and staying power…though in Water signs it is more emotional than firey (obviously).

Mars can trigger aggression in others…so if we have issues with feeling hard done by…see how by not owning your Mars you will activate it in others.

I have Mars in Scorpio in the 12th so I also fight for the underdog. I don’t show my anger outright and less so than someone with it in another house that’s more visible to others. But I will seeth and strike when I feel it is well deserved. I have been known to do the trench coat psychological warfare. But I also think I try to use my Mars to spread compassion where it is needed when I am confronted with it. I care deeply for those who are either without or on the outskirts for whatever reason and are or feel rejected by society.

I have mars in Taurus. I do take a lot of bull shit for quite sometime but i do turn it back and push very hard when enough is enough.
I have been attracted to mars in scorpio men and yeah they do get stuck when the games turn on them.
I don’t know where that comes from, I’m not sure if its my eighth house sun, mercury and venus or just that pluto and saturn are in scorpio.
I feel like it’s only fair to turn the mirror on them
but my venus is in aries so that says i do like to fight and my mars is trine uranus so the other person is shocked and surprised when I lash out.
I wish my mars was in the 10th though, it’s in the ninth house.

Super sunny Sag with Scorpio Mars in the 10th conjunct Pluto. Apparently I come across as intense to some people, especially those who I have no desire to deal with. I guess I project this ‘fall way back’ aura or else I may verbally digest them, or give them a look that will melt them. It works well when not wanting to deal with shenanigans. And those who cross me, the first thought that crosses my mind like clockwork is ” You will regret that, and you will never forget me. ” But I swear I’m a nice person! Lol.

Mars in Aquarius. I’ve blown up three times in my life, and it was like a 10.0 earthquake. People were shocked, jaws dropped and eyeballs out, and I actually shocked myself, I didn’t think I was capable of blowing up like that. The rest of my life, I’m like a zen master. I’m neutral most of the time. I think I remain neutral so easily because instead of doing anything physically, I just rationalize it all in my head. “He did that because he was having a crappy day, and I won’t take it personally.” So I do nothing back. But yeah, the few times that I’m mad, I’m uncontrollable.

Mars in Cancer here, as well. All of you who have posted your mars in this sign and the things you have said are spot on!!

But… mine is RX. Opposite Sat/Moon. I can be moody. I believe it to be environmental or from physical exhaustion… or sexual frustration… or domestic unrest… or, shit… you get the pic.

My Mars is in the eighth house, by the way. Scorpionic. Plutonion to say the least. I know when an “enemy” comes into the environment. Pallas conj. Moon trine the MH. Can you say “strategic”??

But… you can’t kill everyone.

Mars in Scorpio, 7th House. I see myself as easy-going, but when I get riled, I feel it. It stays with me for a long time, and I never forget a slight or a hurt. But rather than go for the person, I hold it in and wait, because when karma comes round I always hear about it. So ultimately I don’t have to get my hands dirty.
Funny thing is, I keep getting told by people that there is something scary about me, I apparently have a ‘look’ that could freeze hell, and that they would never want to cross me.
That scares me cos I’m unaware of it – if this is the dark, secret weapon of Mars in Scorpio then I’d really like to know how to use it properly……

i’ve got the best of both worlds (this is what i tell myself): mars in scorpio conjunct saturn (depositing my aries Moon at that). I don’t think anyone can out wait me! i may get frustrated but i surely NEVER give up. strategy and stealth are my middle names. although its kind of creepy in relationships, i just about always get what i want.

My brother the Army career man is a sun and Mars in Cap :) I think that’s interesting how similarly it’s being described here in others!

Mine is in Leo. I think I get what I want/need because I fundamentally believe I ought to have it lol So…you know…where is it, huh? I’m just gonna stick around and smile until it gets here lol I also have a much bigger growl than bite. I tend (with Aries sun too) to roar quite a bit and declare war on all obstacles. Leo can be a little lazy too though — I deserve doesn’t always translate into “and I will work hard for it.” Definitely a downfall when it rears its head…

My sons are totally opposite: Taurus has a Pisces Mars and Gemini has an Aries Mars. Gemini was less than 4 lbs at birth full term and he has been a scrappy little sucker ever since lol He has a disproportionate temper for his petite size, will hit and punch WAY more than my peaceful Taurus, and asserts his will with incredible force. My Pisces Mars kiddo will sit and stew and grunt what he needs, expecting you to figure it out. He is not very physically aggressive and if he can’t be the best, he just pouts. He LOVES to swim and wants to be an art teacher — has shown almost zero interest in sports :)

Mess with my kids (5th house) and you see the claws come out (Leo Mars, conjunct Leo Sun).

Leo Mars is like an offended lion. Sniffing haughtily and trying to look dignified. I think this makes people want to try to get under my skin. Like bear-baiting.

Spot on (if old, lol) comment. People love to bait me. They’re usually passive-aggressive types that love to go after the more direct Mars signs. After a Leo Mars attack, they come away all bloody and shredded.

Which leave me to wonder: didn’t they ever watch those Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom specials? ;)

Here are two good stories that illustrate how a Leo Mars fights:

1) Embarrass the crap out of an afflicted Libra Mars by making them look like the ass they were in front of people they were trying to “impress”.

This one fought back very sneakily through mightily underhanded tactics, but I still made my point.

2) Don’t know the Mars sign of this one, but when her kid keeps on bothering mine after his being told a million times to stop…I go after him myself, turn him in to the principal every time he acts up, and make him look like the little runty jerk he is. Then she calls me up and curses at me; I curse right back and hang up.

My Mars isn’t as flamboyant as an Aries Mars, and it takes a lot to rile me up, ’caused Mars is FIXED, but push me far enough and pull back a bloody stump…

Mars in libra in the 8th, conjunct saturn and pluto. I am learning to deal with anger and express it in healthy ways, because I’m realizing that when I get past the “polite” crap, which is only skin deep, I have a strong ability to defend myself and others, and without mincing words, but there is that initial Libran restraint which is irritating! Mars aqua 7th house square Pluto conj Merc in Scorpio 5th. Libra sun. Don’t handle anger very well, takes a lot to get there. Not a fan of harming/attacking others, especially personally as I grew up with it in multiple areas. Feel its a misuse of ‘power,’ more a sign of insecurity and self unawareness (in my experience and opinion). Was a pain playing sports though, allowing myself to separate being aggressive from being a ‘good’ person. When I have gotten personal, it has been damaging and altered interaction.
In other ways, I’m extremely determined and focused when I decide to do something, regardless of the outcome. I identify more with the Plutonian archetype of transformation and depth. Im most interested in competing with myself and my ‘limits’ than with others

Capricorn. It’s a machine, it is utterly tenacious. Sq a Libra moon. Not terribly confrontational, I just withdraw and get on with my ascent. My friend with Mars in Pisces & Gem moon is much more confrontational than me, and coherent with it. Whereas I probably fear making a fool of myself or getting out of control. Libra leashes the gun. Also I’ve noticed that Mars in Pisces friend doesn’t ever want to do stuff alone. If company can’t be found, the class/movie/exercise won’t happen. Whereas I’ll do it by myself, drives me craazy not to just get on with it.

My mother had Mars/Libra. She disciplined w/velvet gloves. I remember we had a cute sculpture of 3monkeys displaying the 3evils. Mom heard & saw evil, but never spoke evil and people trusted her for that trait. She would have made the perfect politicians’ wife. She liked everybody and if she didn’t like you you never knew it-she never spoke ill of anybody. She was able to carry this persona in life, but it wasn’t phony — it was genuine. My Mars sounds a lot more like Scorpio Mars than Libra. I’m sure it’s because it’s in the 8th and conjunct Pluto.
I do resonate with what you said about balancing tho. For example, first *real* fist fight I got into was over someone calling me a name. I thought, ok, you call me that–I hit you in the face–the end–fair. Er..not so much. It turned out it turned into an big ol family affair for her and I found out really quickly that there was nothing fair coming out of it (especially seeing as she called her whole famdamily to kick my butt and I am an only child..lol).
But, that’s ok. I knew I’d eventually even the score (there’s Libra again) so I waited several months. Caught her car parked while she was gone to a music concert and removed all the lug nuts from her tires. They didn’t make it far going home that night. And..I wasn’t done. I knew they would be drinking and driving. So, I estimated the time that it would take to get back from the concert and in the car and called the police and reported a suspected DUI. Cops showed up right after their tires flew off and guess who went to jail and had a messed up car?
um, yep. There’s the Scorpio part.

Mars in Virgo conjunct Sun and Mercury, 5th house. If I don’t express or release my anger creatively I will get sick, I’ve learned I can’t repress it. Physical activity helps me out a lot here, so does creative writing. I tend not to fight back against someone unless injustice occurs(Mars sq Saturn). If that happens…

I’ve got a pretty smart mouth/sharp tongue that will cut you in two and that has gotten me into some real trouble. But like aerial, I have the moon in Scorp sextile Mars thank gawd. My husband has Mas in Capricorn. It’s o.k but one thing I dislike about it is that he can be very business and calculating on his moves. He can lie to get the work done and then take an upper hand. He can manipulate others with lies. My Pisces Mars cannot tolerate it.

1st House Taurus Mars, conjunct Taurus Ascendant, sextile Leo Sun, opposite Scorpio Pluto.
Lol :D on’t fu$^ with me or I’ll mess you up.”

I only care to hold it in for so long before I do a Mount St. Helen’s on your ass. By that point, I’ve made sure to give you adament “please stop’s”, “enough’s” and stares of Death. You can’t poke a hibernating Grizzly Bear and then get offended when it proceeds to tear you up.

I have Mars in Libra in the 4th house — don’t like it much. An astrologer I like, who also has it, says that it’s hard to win with Mars in Libra. When he said that, so much finally made sense to me in regards to my deteriorating relationship with my husband, Mars in sagittarius, but it’s on his ascendant, so I’m told even though it’s in friendly Sag, he is Martian because of it being on his ascendant — and his rising sign is Scorpio. Definitely hard to win!
