Astrology And Fate

Ask the collective

I got into a discussion about fate with, satori. I told her it was not my fate to be Bill Gates and this was okay with me. I don’t mind that I am a peasant. In fact it doesn’t bother me in the least.

Why do you think so many are unhappy with their fate? Do you think fate is a fixed thing or can you change your fate? Can you tie this to your chart?

Because of their extreme wants they can want too much. This can make them unhappy. I’m not poor, but I’m not rich either. Middle class is a good way to describe me.

Now if you are currently suffering than it’s understandable why you would not like your fate currently.

I believe in fate, but I think we have quite more free will than we think we do. What is it? Like 60% fate and 40% free will? LOL.

Well I’ve heard a man’s character is his fate. Both you and Bill Gates have contributed to your respective communities in your own ways. Everyone leaves a mark on the world in one way or another, maybe that’s fate.

I feel that how much free will we are given to exercise, is dependent on Karma from previous lives; and that the chart is the visual representation of it. You can see a person’s gifts and limitations laid out in their natal chart, then it’s up to them to make of it what they will. That is, free will and fate are in direct context to a person’s accumulated Karma.

I don’t know what is true for others, necessarily. I personally feel I have a fate that is unavoidable.
When I posted this, I first searched “astrology and fate” on this blog because I knew I’d written in this vein before. I feel the same thing now as I did them but with even more certainty.

People do have free will, that’s for sure. I exercised mine when I did not marry my husband when I was a teen, however, fate caught up with me.

I’ve always thought of fate as the possibility or potential. But, it was up to you to find it or grab onto the opportunities as they come..or not.

I really don’t know other people’s experiences but I do know that not everyone is going to be Bill Gates…or not get cancer and die when they are 10, or not lose a child or whatever.

Maybe people with an afflicted or not enough Neptune or Jupiter are not happy with their fate.

Yes, I think we have fates/destinies where we meet people we are destined to meet and certain crossroads and events that will happen. That energy is in my chart, in the people I meet, the places I live, and how I manage it is my choice, but it will be used or the gap will be filled no matter what. I can exercise my free will, but I will pay for it.

And if I don’t learn my lessons on time, I will be less prepared for the next one. I’m not sure this is as obvious to everyone, but in my life it just comes at me, and I have to deal or it’s severe.

It causes unhappiness when I’m not handling things well, unaware or unskilled in using my energy, ill, or under general stress and confusion. No real unhappiness, but anguish sometimes.

I think some people are just unhappy about most everything and being upset about karma is a great way to deposit your hopes and dreams that have washed ashore in the great bucket of “out of my hands.”

I don’t think I can change my fate, period. That’s why I embrace the mystery and try to accept what happens to me by limiting the amount of times I ask ‘why me?’

I’m not really a why me person. I am a why-not-me person. Saturn in 8th (and I believe Saturn is tied to fate and karma, more so than the Nodes).

“I really don’t know other people’s experiences but I do know that not everyone is going to be Bill Gates”
very true. I believe fate is personalized/individualized

I don’t see astrology as fate, but I do see it as “stuff that’s hard to stop once it is in motion”. Karma is basically a predilection. If you choose differently, then you escape the karma.

Now, having said that, I do think there are certain broad range lessons you work on but the form they take can be quite mutable. A chart is “hard to read” because of all the forms it can take, not because it is written in stone.

Food for thought.

The big things in life are all fated. The smaller things not so much.

I believe that some things good and bad happen due to fate, but not all things. I try not to invest in the idea too much, though I’m often tempted to, because I am most fulfilled when I am earning my keep (Virgo).

Is there a difference between fate and destiny? Or are they just words to polarize the thoughts?
Which is the good one and which is the bad one?
To give an example maybe a bad one, but was it fate or destiny for the people who were on the Titanic? Was the whole moment of time destiny or fate? The whole eastern coast was involved in rescue and clean-up. The cemetary is downtown Halifax, there is a museum of items.
Is fate or destiny to involve many at a time, or singularly each person shows up at the fated or destined time.
If I understand the word Karma, as the spirit is eternal,do we gather with others with the same Karma? Karma being personal and collective at the same time?
Do many people share the same grief at the same time collectivly, or is it a personal thing?

I wish I knew. I think certain things are fated, but there is a huge range of free will involved.

@kash “I’m not really a why me person. I am a why-not-me person.” I say that too when bad things happen: “Why *not* me?” Sometimes your number just comes up, is all.
