If I had to choose just one thing to study for the rest of my life it would be trends in the collective. I am talking about the deep shifts in the collective psychology that see various things (or people) become popular or faddish. I constantly monitor things like this in numerous ways. As a result, I can usually see things coming way ahead of the pack.
This tends to infuriate people, particularly if they like the thing that is riding high and you’re invested in it. You think you are on top or that you have something dicked and it never works that way. It just doesn’t… and astrology illustrates this vividly.
As an example, I have been on the climb with Saturn running up the right side of my chart for years. I will peak with Saturn in the 10th and go into a period of fall. It’s not as bad as it sounds! It’s a natural cycle. There are other things to do besides climb!
Right now there are certain people and/or causes that have enjoyed wide support but it’s clear to me the support has peaked. Basically you go up on the wheel and inevitably you come down. I don’t care if you’re an actress in Hollywood, low-rise jeans or a particular group of people thrown up to be glorified.
I don’t know if there is much use for someone like me to talk about things like this. I do talk to my inner circle. I tell them not to be too comfy with their status, for obvious reasons.
How attuned are you to trends?

Elsa, are you talking here about progressed Saturn or transiting Saturn?
My tr. saturn is at the base of my chart and my cappy moon is ready for a climb
. As for being attuned to trends, I’m aware of them, but it’s more of an unconscious thing.
Angie
I don’t know, sometimes I think I’m more tuned into cycles then trends.
Same deal with me and Saturn, music4am.
I’m ignorant of trends although I’ve been thinking in my disillusioned south node way that education is a bubble market. I’m aware of cycles though.
@Elsa I’d never thought I’d see the medieval flasher image again. :p
ah..thanks. Elsa. Since switching to using equal house system, I am having a hard time understanding what part the MC plays as opposed to what part the 10th house cusp plays in determining what my reputation/life’s work should or could be. Saturn will also be hitting my 10th at 25 Libra, in equal. MC is 17 Scorpio and 10th house cusp in Placidus. So I don’t know anymore what my worldly reputation is or what profession I should pursue. Saturn is also my chart ruler. The new moon in Libra with mercury on top are all sitting on my Libra neptune today. I’m about to talk myself into a consult here…!!
History repeats itself. I find that fashion is an example of the collective. I’m not to tied into that so much although I like to fit in a bit to hide out. I do notice that market trends follow the we’re all poor economic climate comes across with these trends.
I’m not a lemming, but I don’t have a solution to much of it.
i always have my ear to the ground, my eyes to the horizon. i must look very strange to some people
Elsa I also really liked the image of saturn climbing. Saturns leaving the bottom of my chart headed up but the squares and oppositions I’ve seen at the bottom since 1libra will continue to hit my tsquare and grand trines.
Should I assume they were more internal with minor visibility and that as Saturn reaches the upper houses things will be more public in appearance?
@learning you become more visible when Saturn crosses the descendent and enters the 7th house.
LOL so I will only be invisible for another 3 years or so?
Um guess I better work seriously on how I wish to be seen and be sure its real cause it will remain visible for along time… to long to put up a front.. the real will be seen…
I sure hope I like what people see. I started to automatically type I hope others like what they see but I feel more and more lately that if I don’t like what they see it really wont matter long term or it will come with pain.
“LOL so I will only be invisible for another 3 years or so?”
No, it doesn’t work that way. As an example, I was on my original blog with Saturn in the 6th, writing under “VeryModern” rather than my own name. When Saturn crosses the horizon, I moved to this blog and attached my full name.
Thanks Elsa
That helped!
@Elsa, as you said this is Saturn Transiting not progression. Can you please help us out to find the actual difference?
Between, thanks its really a nice reading.
astrobie, Saturn does not progress very quickly (1 degree every 6-10 years) so it’s not something I would consider.
I do not follow trends, at all. I made a conscious effort to unplug from all of that at a very early age and I’m finding it extremely difficult to plug back in, so to speak, even though it’d be highly beneficial to me at this stage in life.
Sun-Saturn conjunct: I’m aging backwards, man. Typical.
I would say I have kept a pulse on the trends all my life.
I should say I have clearer readings of them since I’ve kept tab of your blogs, Elsa.
Thanks for all your advice.
God bless always.
Saturn is moving through my 12th House, so I guess I’ve transcended the social trends.
Either that or I’m just an odd-ball.
“I don’t know if there is much use for someone like me to talk about things like this.” – Elsa, I for one appreciate it when you talk/write about stuff like this!
This is an enoromously interesting topic in astrology, a real never-ending thing to be studied more profoundly.
Finally a very underestimated object of astrological search…

I’m pretty tuned in. And, often, don’t want to believe it myself.
It’s interesting what you say about Saturn on the right side of your chart. Apparently mine has been climbing my entire life travelling from my 4th. It will top out in about 2016. And you know, I can imagine that I’ll be ready for the slide.
