Putting Astrological Advice To Use

September 26th, 2011 @ 7:26 pm by Satori

“Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.”
–Mary Poppins

spoonful of medicineI just did an email consultation in which I gave some pretty unpalatable advice. It could really work out well if she’s able to put that advice into action. However, it wasn’t exactly feel good advice. The client, by virtue of chart attributes, is probably far better suited than I am to work this particular course of action. In fact, hmm, I got to thinking and it was exactly the same advice Elsa has been giving ME for years now. Holy moly, that was certainly an ego blow.

In fact, I’ve known it was good advice all along and seen that it was what I needed to do, but I just haven’t been able to DO it. It goes against my inherent sense of fairness and activates my Sun-Uranus, Saturn Mars rebellion and balking. But it’s absolutely brilliant advice and would solve my problem if I took it. There’s nothing Elsa could have done or said to cause me to take advantage of it, short of writing it on a piece of paper, wrapping it around a rock and beating me in the head with it. And that’s just not in her nature. I realize now how incredibly patient she’s been with me!

Do you make use of good advice or resist it? What astrological features in your chart reflect this?

Hummm this is a very good question for me because I’ve had to LEARN to side step A LOT of bad advice, advice that I’ve followed only to find out it was deeply BAD. I’ve been learning to distinguish good advice from bad, so I have no idea if I bulk at good advice because at this point I’m double and triple checking input. Venus (7th) Square Neptune(4th) … and Neptune has been doing a lovely dance on my Venus for the last 2 years- with a third pass still to come. Like I said “checking, checking and more checking”

I’m the worst at offering advice that I know their person is not ready to accept. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink!

Sometimes people have to find their own way through it. Some folks just want it to be the way they want it to be instead of how it really is.

I ponce shared a fair bit of advice with a co-worker dealing with an alcoholic husband. She was living a drama filled life that was exhausting. I finally had to tell her that I didn’t want to hear about it not because I didn’t care, but because sharing the information with me wasn’t doing either if us any good. I told her she could save a lot of money on therapy is she took the advice a therapist once gave me. ” You live with it, or you get out. If you get out, have a plan ready. I think she found another 10 people to talk to. Phew!

i resist good advice, mostly because i have a hard time distinguishing it from the bad advice! and i think i’m too egocentric to think objectively with certain decisions. i’m sure there have been some gems that i let pass me by.

Its not that I dont resist good advice its just that I forget about sometimes until after I’ve done something the hard way… Oy.

It really depends on who is giving it…I have a friend who has stellar advice at times, but her delivery drives me absolutely m.e.n.t.a.l. I know she’s right but, just…GAH.

I am usually the one who doesn’t take advice if I consider the solution to be worse than the problem. Of course, that doesn’t really resolve anything either…once I’ve decided that the solution is too awful, I try to resolve myself to the problem as being the lesser of two evils. But it’s hard to do that too.

I figure I can take advice, especially when it is asked for. I don’t like advice offered unsolicited yaknow? Advice from experts and experienced superiors is good, they can speak from years of honing their skills and years of experience. Yet I am alert with a good bullshit detector…and ask what is in it for them? Do they have any personal advantage advising me in such a way? If not, consider their advice.
The astro? hmmm maybe Saturn in the 10th house sextile Sun?

I have taken your advice @Satori & funnily enough, today is the day I shall see if it pays off. It has been HARD & I have had to use every single scrap of patience I own… for months now.
Nasty tasting medicine for sure, but I just might see an improvement in my malady tonight.

Wish Me Luck!!!

P.S… I wish I could have rebelled, but Hell… ya just made too much sense ;)

Apparently, I provide good advice – much to my ignorance though! I usually have NO IDEA I’m actually helping others.

Pisces Mercury, I guess.

But I have an equal amount of Fire, Water and Earth in my chart, so I’m good at intuiting and providing very practical action. I cater my advice according to one’s personality. Weird thing is – I do most of this subconsciously!
