If You Could Alter Your Partner’s Early Life…

Saturn In Libra

My husband told me this morning that he wished he could go back in time and fix some things about my early education. For one thing, he said he would have forced me to take naps in 1st grade, the way he did because he does not like my inability to nap and my lack of appreciation for an afternoon nap. He also said, he thinks I should have been taught to embroider – forced to slowly make all these little stitches. I stared at him, horrified.

“Yep, that’s what I’d do. And what I would have you embroider is this: patience is a virtue.”

I snorted and told him it was in ordinarily controlling to consider going back in time to tweak my personality but I did think this was interesting.

If you could go back in time and alter your partner’s early education, what would you change?

“I stared at him, horrified” hahahhahahhaa! Oh me oh my that’s funny!

I don’t know. Nothing! By all accounts it sounds like my partner had a great early start. I think I did, too. I was reading before kindergarten even started and that was what my parents and schoolteachers thought was most important. I do remember naps in kindergarten but not Grade 1.

My husband is obsessed with the nap thing – it was his favorite time in school and my most hated time in school.

He likes to imagine us meeting as kids – he knows we’d have connected but he says he’s have been beyond pissed if I bothered him and talked to him when he was trying to have his nap, which he knows I would do.

I would do that and I do remember lying on that towel every day, bored out of mind and wondering why the fuck we had to do this. I was 2 years younger then the rest of my class which was also bewildering because in my minds, these kids were 7 and naps were for babies.

Anyway, he just likes to lie down. For newbies, this is my husband – to a T

Oh man, my friend from England came to visit–she is a Virgo Sun/Moon and she was like “What the hell is with Canadian people and their naps! Everyone’s always suggesting I take an effen nap!”

I think she actually had a nap or two before she went home again, and asked me to not tell anyone, LOL.

My godson the Scorpio, didn’t go to sleep until 6 hours after he was born. He stopped napping entirely when he was 10 months old!

Hahaha I hated naps in school too. How can anyone sleep on a hard floor in a room full of people?

If I could just go back and observe, I would. But I don’t think I could observe without wanting to save or console him.

I’d whisper in his ear to follow his true instincts and believe in his art, where he excelled in school..instead of heeding parental guidance that was “that’s no career for a man”..steering him into the rigidity of civil engineering which he stuck with as long as he could until he couldn’t bear it..tonight he’s taking his first further educational art class. Atta boy!

My daughter 9 hated to nap when she was younger. Like elsa she thinks its a waste of time. BTW she hates to go to sleep at all, she feels she’s missing out on something, like sleeping was created by those that want to keep things from her. LOL (she’s an aries with Moon Mercury and rising in Scorpio)

Financial responsibility and the definition of WANT vs NEED. But not too stingy, just in the middle.

Alter someones past???

If I cant love her for what she is, with her quirks, than she aint for me

but there are no mistakes

its what you do after you fall face flat

do you keep crying in the mud or stand up and continue

by the way most of the bad stuff we think, that might be going around its actually never happens

complaining about past, worrying about future, trying neurotically to change stuff that cant, hanging on to people who you know they are bad for you are all signs of low self esteem

its a you-got-a-problem

not they-got-a-lots-of-problems

A master napper here. I loved them in 1st grade and love them yet. The opposite of true of my husband, though he will nap by accident.

If I could tweak my husband’s early beginnings I would have his family remain in the little town and leave Green Bay out of the picture. Oh my, what a difference … and would I have dreamed him up with that tweak? Beware the tampered time.

When I try to nap, I don’t fucking fall asleep! I can’t sleep while the sun’s up all that well in the first place, certainly not in the afternoon after having been up for hours. Even if I am exhausted, I will just lie there semi-awake. It is not fun for me either.

That’s genetics, not “learning to take a nap,” I think! :P

Um. Scorpio moon here. I’ve had the very same thought. But I wouldn’t force anyone to stitch stuff into an embroidery hoop. My whole thing has always been: I wish *someone* in your life had taught you critical thinking….

eva, do you mean me? You think I lack critical thinking skills?

No absolutely not! Lol, it was general, when I get pissed off at the general population. I think your critical thinking skills are top notch, which is why I hang around :) .

Yeesh, sorry….

Okay. I was confused. I figure whatever my lack is, it’s here for all to see. You’d have been the first person, ever in my life to tell me I can’t think. :)
Annalisa leaves the room to get away my brain – she’s told this. :)

Elsa,

Maybe you wouldn’t take up embroidery, but this may be right up your alley:

;)
Maybe you could make your husband one for Christmas.
