1 Minute Astrology – Virgo Men And Women: Dogged and Disrepected But Just Try To Get By Without Them
Astrology in real life
As the the Sun and Venus head into Virgo…this is in support and defense of underrated Virgo men and women.

Oh I really like Virgo! I’m actually writing an article on Venus in Virgo at this exact moment.
I definitely agree that they do the kind of jobs that go unnoticed but support the whole system. I really admire Virgos.
I could be a librarian, I have Virgo in my 6th house and Mercury in the 10th. Elsa, you may have just revealed my hidden vocation hehe
I am a big fan of Virgos. I love them. I’m a bit meticulous myself, so I don’t really get on their bad side, and I have a profound appreciation for people who do the ordinary, every-day work that keeps everything running.
I’ve dated two Virgo men. It’s converted me to Virgos forever if possible.
Both of them were wonderful at giving me flowers, always remembered birthdays and anniversaries, and that seems to be typical Virgo stuff, but they were also just really tactful and sweet and very capable guys, who handle sex with the same degree of excellence and attention to detail as everything else.
I know I’m drawn to reserve, so it may be a personal taste, but I luz the Virgos.
So glad you brought up Virgos! Lots of Virgos in my life this year, esp. since September. Tend to enjoy my virgo friends, but they do get very meticulous at times and, when I was trying to woo one, I found it quite frustrating to have to be so perfect all of the time! For quite a while, I was upset with virgos – they couldn’t seem to let things slide, live spontaneously, seemed to have difficultly loving life freely. But now I am thankful for them, because even in their stubborn OCD way, they are very playful. It is a challenge but wonderful fun to bring out their playful side, and well worth the “effort”.
You raise good points about the importance of jubs that seem mundane and repetitive but are, nevertheless, very important. I had never stopped to thank virgos for that!
My mother, a Virgo, scares me to death. Lady sure can hold a grudge.
However I have Venus and Mercury in Virgo and I feel it, for sure. I have always loved Virgo men but I have only managed to date one — and that was only for like a month and boy was that a dysfunctional foray. However he lived across the way from me for two years and when he moved in to his place I was drawn to him instantly, never mind that I was living with somebody else.
(I didn’t know much about astrology. I had no idea why he was setting off so many bells and whistles)
Well, he was textbook Virgo. His place was spotless and everything was incredibly tasteful and minimalist. And my mother is constantly making lists about things … organizing and filing restaurant reviews and hotels and God knows what else. She thinks astrology is stupid, but she is definitely “firing on all cylinders”, as Elsa would say.
I am a recovering ex-wife of a Pluto conjunct Sun opposed Jupiter brand German Virgo — he was a mega strength Virgo, oh man. Basically, back in the days when we were trying to live together, we would buy a new vacuum cleaner at least every 6 months. My ex vacuumed at least twice a day out of his frustration with me, a Pisces portfolio of fritos, cheetos, and potato chip strewn about in CHAOS. Forget lining up lables, there were no labels. On weekends he would analyze his wardrobe and if he hadnt worn something in a month, he’d dash out to a second hand store to sell it. The minute the door closed I would light the incense and make love to my tarot cards in rapture. Once he caught me and yelled at me FOR NOT BEING PRACTICAL AT A TIME LIKE THIS WHEN WE HAVE TO SAVE FOR OUR RETIREMENT.
I did learn a lot from him. I learned to THROW IT OUT. What? Cheetos. Clothes. Tarot Cards. Everything. Just throw it all out. It doenst matter.
I’ll put it this way, when I put my order to the Universe for a new partner, I dont order a Virgo, but derned if I don’t still attract ‘em like flies. On first dates when I find out they are Virgos I scream, “I’m a disgusting, filthy fish!” That sends ‘em a- runnin’. Well actually there is one lovely Virgo ascendant in the picture for around whom I vaccuum until he turns into a moat of gee.
One thing about Virgo women, I have had a lot as clients and bosses in the graphic design part of my life, and for a fact, the projects I do with Virgo women are the best projects I ever do.
I’m not a Virgo but I have Virgo moon and rising, Sun in the 6th house. I worked in a bookstore for two years so I can SO relate to the library example. My bookstore was full of Virgo employees, and I feel like this must be true about the whole publishing industry as it is so systematized and orderly. Oftentimes, people do not appreciate the kind of meticulous care and organization that goes into a bookstore, from the time the big boxes arrive to getting them shelved to gift wrapping them. Bookstores attract messes (my personal favorite was the book shoved into a shelf spine first, sticky with strawberry jam of all things, cover bent and ripped..WHO DOES THAT?!). Ah well, I think a lot of Virgo, while they complain about those kinds of things, love cleaning them up.
My favorite thing was doing inventory, getting out my big clip board and sitting in front of the books for hours and hours, just alphabetizing and organizing. It sounds boring as hell but the next time you go to a bookstore looking for Alison Weir’s biographies or a book on the Audubon birds there is a Virgo archetype to thank.
Thank you Elsa!!! When people ask me my sign, and know little about astrology or have read just the general definition, I always hesitate to say that I am a Virgo because of the stereotype that comes with this sign. I’m a Virgo Sun, Virgo Moon, with Pluto, Uranus, and Jupiter ….all conjunct!! Yikes me….some people would say….So….thank you, Elsa, for coming to our defense. Scorpios are always so good at that!!!
Note: Thanks to all of your comments too. I noticed that you all are capable of seeing that there is more to a Virgo then all that negative stuff that is often said about them.
Poor poor Virgo. Anyone would think they own the rights to Martydom? No really, I am good with Virgo’s; they are good in bed and all the other things being said. I believe that ‘being of service’ is a spiritual experience and one that I aspire towards. I don’t think that Virgo’s have cornered that market?
kingsley
Virgo Moon and Rising here.
I don’t mind the handwringing/worrying types (like myself) but can’t stand the hair-splitting or critical Virgos. The conversations just go on and on… and about nothing (that I want to hear).
The service Virgos are great until you realize they will surely make themselves sick by helping you! And then tell you all about it for years… I mean weeks
Ooops I’m putting down Virgo! (Sorry, it is my Virgo Moon, making me so self-critical!)
Right on! Virgos rock. My work neighbor is a Virgo, and she took over this position that was in an absolute shambles due to her predecessor leaving for health reasons and bureaucratic crap delaying a timely replacement. She was new to town, had no experience (she majored in poetry!), no training; she was just plopped there in a dusty cubicle with an inbox full of backdated bureaucratic influx, took what was handed to her and made order out of it somehow. Her program is now running in an absolutely exemplary fashion. If I ever start my own business, I’m going to seek out a Virgo if I need an assistant. Is it legal to ask for a DOB on an app?
oh, my perspective’s tilted, given my virgo ascendant.
but i get a kick in finding and clarifying pattern out of apparent randomness. seeing textures and subtle meaning in the chaotic slurry that reality sometimes appears to be (but isn’t.)
and, yes, disorder sends me into a panic. thus i never went back home to stay once i left.
funny how that stuff works. all three daughters have virgo and aquarius in their moon/ascendant setup. get out and get clean.
Oh dear. I remember a Cancer defense too. Cancers and Virgos = my favorite people. My first love was a Virgo, and I’ve been with two other very sexy Virgo men. I love my son’s Virgo ascendant and moon… he seems so pure and calm. And stereotypes notwithstanding, he does freak out if his person and surroundings are not clean at all times. But we need this order in our lives! I wish I worked with a Virgo. My workplace is seriously hurting for want of a Virgo.
Thanks Elsa- You have flushed anoher Virgo out of the woods. Virgo Sun, Pluto and North Node in Virgo, with a Pisces Ascendant, planets in Libra. Strong Jupiter too. With all of the Libra, sometimes I cannot decide if I am a Virgo or Pisces. [Not a textbook virgo.]
After many years of marriage to an Aries and raising two daughters, Taurus and Cancer, I am a lot less bothered by clutter. I just do a little clean up every day. Every once in a while if the clutter continues to grow, it will get to me.
I like to have personal sacred space for meditation, peace and tranquillity. Thankfully my wife appreciates comfort, art beauty too. I just peeked at her chart, and after learning more about astology here and from other sources over the last several months, it does seem we are a very good match.[I already knew this.] She has allowed some of my collection of Crystals to inhabit other parts of the house. The really nice ones, not for their metaphysical properties, but because they are nice to look at. Honest to god though, she is the best house cleaner I have ever met! She prefers to clean like a cyclone once or twice a month.
When I got a new boss a year and half ago she unhired the other managers and it was just myself and her until she promoted another to help us. She is not great with compliments, [It is not something I need that much any way.] but she has said a few times that she does not know what she would do without me. I am absoloutley steadfast and solid as rock. PS my office is also somewhat of a sanctuary.
The more I know the less I think I know. There is an amazing amount of things that I don’t know, but this does not bother me. I am secure in not knowing, whereas not knowing freaks a lot of people out. If I am interested enough in something, I will take the time to learn. I balk at learning about things that do not hold any interest to me. This might be the Piscean influence.
Good night all!
I’ve suddenly developed a cling-on psychic hitchhiker (Virgo with Leo ASC).
I’m learning some people struggle to assimilate their combined energies…trying to be compassionate. Not easy when someone like this is breathing down your neck
Saturn in Virgo in the 6th, Pisces ascendant. I’m a messy person, but I’m a get the job done at work person, people are often amazed at how fast and well I can do things at work and make order out of a complete mess. It’s a recurring theme in my life (at work). The rest of it’s a mess. NN in Virgo as well (7th house).
Virgo is the sign of clear, concise analysis, I love Virgos! As for them being the most undermined sign, don’t you think that every sign seems to feel that way?
Natalie – I don’t think they are undermined, I think Virgo (and the things they are responsible for and/or rule) are undervalued. Compare to Scorpio and sex. No one undervalues that! Or Pisces and fantasy / music.
Lupa, it’s funny, my Gemini friend describes her Virgo daughter as the coolest something year old she knows (I don’t know how old she is), she uses a similar tone. Her Virgo daughter is really together, calm, and collected. She makes a contrast to her and her Libra son who are quite similar. I think she is really pleased and surprised by her daughter.
One thing you forget about Virgos, they are very no bullshit! They tell it to you like it is, especially if you are doing something wrong or decadent. You guys might not mind, but it kind of hurts my feelings. The Virgo is the kid in class who does their work to the best of their ability, recognizes and chastises themselves for any failure, and kind of don’t understand how I could do so badly. They kind of go, “You’re right, you’re fucked.”
A character that might seem like a Virgo as far as “having no regard for human frailty” is Katharine Hepburn in The Philadelphia Story. She is described as a virgin goddess. I think she’s right to hold her father accountable, though, “holding onto his youth” is a weaksauce excuse for cheating. Haha, with all my Cancer planets, I tend to judge moral trespasses harsher when they hurt the children. Also I hate the idea of selfish parents, even though my Aquarius friend annoyingly hates doting parents that don’t give you your space more. She thinks fucked up parents build character (grrrrrr).
My daughter is very Virgo, but she’s very compassionate. She makes straight A’s in school, has excellent taste and fashion sense and is learning to groom dogs with me at work. When she was tiny she would ask me to let her clean things and then say thank you for the privilege.
She’s the kid in school who is so popular and together that you would want to hate her but she’s just so likable and nice that you can’t really.
She rolls her eyes at her quirky Gemini mom’s antics all the time.
But she loves the crazy colored poodle.
Actually, I think Geminis are the least respected and dogged with ugly character traits.
–Anna the Gemini
Like Deirdre, I too am a recovering Pisces sun (Taurus rising/Taurus moon) divorced from a nutty Virgo. My ex has Sagittarius rising and Cancer moon, and we shared the Virgo Uranus & Pluto mid-60s conjunction. The Sag rising and Cancer moon combined with the Virgo sun created what I believe to be the perfect storm of Virgo emotional constipation followed by emotional explosive diarrea. While my flaky Pisces sun, Mercury, and Mars, combined with my Taurus stuff longed to float in green pastures of peaceful, sloppy, meditation and lazy Sunday afternoonishness. My ex would switch from super cool ice cold analyzer and sharp as a flint knife execution style criticizer to a solar flair or ring of fire in an instant over the smallest petty stuff. After the explosion his clingy Cancer moon insecurity would kick in and he’d want to cuddle until the Virgo in him decided that he’d dispensed enough emotion for that day.
Every bit of mundane minutae out of place held the promise of another round of scathing criticism followed by a nuclear explosion then hugs and reassurance. my little fish brain and heart got very filleted and deep fried during my marriage to this piece of heaven (whose parents, grandmother, and best friend all happened to be Pisces suns by the way).
No matter how flaky I get I’m continually amazed at how I attract Virgos — from bosses, thesis judges, best friends, and post-divorce boyfriends. Some of these relationships have been good to a point while many have been disastrous and comedic at the same time.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Virgos are great and perform services on this planet that are very much needed. But I don’t think their maligned–I think the constipated emotion thing they do–when they try to control their feelings and analyze and catalog them instead of FEEL them–puts a wall up that many other signs find off-putting. Being over critical or not realizing when to STOP criticizing because its no longer useful doesn’t help matters either.
Dina- I know exactly what you’re talking about. I had to get a medical note for a class last semester for a medical situation. My Virgo classmate knew this, and still said (unsolicited) ‘Well, it’s got to put the instructor in a funny position, considering you didn’t make the deadline.’
Zero compassion. It would’ve really hurt my feelings if I had allowed myself to spiral in that direction.
Anna, I don’t think that’s true about Gemini. We’ve got charm!
A friend of mine wrote a funny list of reasons you shouldn’t date _____. Virgo’s was “You should never date a Virgo because OCD is no substitute for a personality.”
Before anyone gets offended, the point was you can’t rule people out based on astrology because we all have our negative traits.
Oh, I happen to love being a Gemini! We’ve got a lot going for us and we’re never boring BUT we have this reputation for being flakey two-faced liars skimming superficially upon the pond of life. I know that’s not true of me and most of the wonderful Geminis I’ve met over the years so why do the astrology books keep harping on our negative traits? When people asked me my sign and I say Gemini, I was usually met with “oh, nice…” But their look was sheer disdain. I now tell people I’m a Gemini/Cancer cusp (which I am at 28 degrees Gemini) and the response is better, as in “oh, interesting!” But there I go, typical Gemini right? Rephrasing (lying?) to make things sound/appear better to my adoring public!
Oh, and p.s I love Virgos. My mars and pluto is in Virgo so I admire and work with these people very well.
I’ve never gotten that response upon telling people I’m a Gemini. I would be curious to hear from other Geminis about their experience.
I love Gemini more than anyone else. Hands down. I just made a new friend at school, and I just LOVE her…and wasn’t surprised in the least to discover she has Sun, Moon and 2 other planets in Gemini.
I have a Triple Gemini friend…I love her too, although everyone is always asking me if she is stoned or insane…she’s incredibly creative and her essence is hypnotic.
Sorry to rag on Virgo. I do love them…I just get tired of them trying to make sense of me (it makes me feel micro-managed).
Of course, the chart’s energy is more than this!
I’m a Virgo but I don’t feel like one…I’m not too obsessed about neatness and I’m over trying to help everyone out (too exhausting). I think it depends on how much Virgo you have in your chart that makes the difference or specific aspects that bring out the fussiness. I feel and relate more as a Scorpio (my rising sign).
Lupa says: I would be curious to hear from other Geminis about their experience.
Typical response I get: Oh, yeah, should have known that. *chuckle* Usually in a positive way.
As someone who has no planets in earth signs, I am in awe of Virgos. I really admire them as long as they aren’t smug. I don’t like smug people of any sign.
But when they aren’t smug, damn if they aren’t capable people!
I have Jupiter/Pallas, Venus, Pluto/Uranus/Ceres in Virgo. On of my college degrees is in information/library science.
My husband’s mars is in Virgo too, so we think each other’s peculiarities are charming and endearing hahaha. There really is someone out there for everyone.
I think to be a good artist, no matter your art form, you can’t have really really good output unless some Virgo is in there, wanting you to go over your music/words/picture/dance/whatever for the billionth time.
wow, I don’t think of Virgo like this at all. She is the Goddess, hiding in the Zodiac. Virgo is the original priestess of the pagan temples. She’s the Divine Harlot. She is the one who has complete and total control over our physical reality, and as a priestess she gets to this level of mastery through daily practice and devotion.
Esoterically this is the place where heaven meets the earth. she marks the end of summer and the preparation for harvest. So this is love, hope, anything that’s seeded made manifest in nature. You can’t see Love floating around in the air — if you give it form and function, it is a cup or a blanket or even a piece of art made with total concentration.
She’s mom. She’s your best friend. She is all the everyday miracles that women are in charge of making. She’s the regularity of Thanksgiving dinner. She’s the one who runs the remembering of birthdays — who else would remember you? she’s also, in mythology, the priestess who gave the men who come to the temple sexual release — and by the way this is how lots of mythical heroes got born; half man, half god.
There romantic love, where people ride around cars and kiss and fight: and then there is the real stuff you can see when a midwife hands an exhausted woman her baby or in a hospital room at 3 AM. She *makes life possible*. Virgo is how your dreams become reality. Virgo can actually grant you a wish. She can literally give you what you need if you ask for it or even if you don’t.
You’ve got the car, but she’s got the map. Also she packed lunch.
In response to Eva:
I think it’s possible for all women to harness these capabilities and I know more than a handful of Virgos that would rather systematically destroy themselves than bother with this type of higher existence. Some of the claims you made seemed a little over the top. Could it be that you are a Virgo woman who thinks highly of yourself? Maybe not, since Virgos tend towards modesty. You could also be someone who just has a very strong philosophy surrounding your beliefs in astrology. Not all Virgos are always on top of things I mean they are meticulous and tend to have a plan but for some Virgos this manifests differently from others. Some are organized in a more discombobulated way.
“Not all Virgos are always on top of things” this made me snort out loud…one of my loved ones is a Virgo Moon/Sun/Mercury and she lives in a rats’ nest! (Just another reason why I’m confounded by Virgo).
I’m glad people are still writing about them here. I don’t know why I’m so confused about them!
Kashmiri, what Sun sign are you again? Rising Sign?
Hi Snap–My Sun’s in Taurus (16 degrees) ASC is Sagittarius (26 degrees). Moon in Capricorn (9 degrees). Where’s your Moon? (I think I remember correctly in that your Sun is Scorp and ASC Pisces?) You nice and hot up in your parts? Van in pretty nice today! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Arrrggghhh….NO, it’s NOT nice up here (P.G.) – and yes I saw that you guys were having a good day today. That’s all right Kashmiri, I’m happy for you. You must have sent your weather up here!
)
Yes you remembered correctly, and my Moon is in hey…. Taurus! I have Mercury in Sagittarius! I just got to see my (hard to get) honey, so i’m in a good mood again! LOL ahhh, geeze.
Natalie, of course all women can harness those energies, and all men can too. Virgo is in the chart of every human being on the planet. And I wasn’t talking about the ability to organize, I was talking about the ability to make love manifest.
?
I’m a Virgo. I’m crazy meticulous. It can take me weeks to get something done simply because all the details aren’t exactly perfect (at least in my eyes). I get really annoyed if at work someone leaves a project imperfect because I can manage to get everything done. Why can’t they?
Eva:
I think I see what you’re getting at now, I saw that you were trying to say that in most of your post but there were some spots that I must’ve been confused by. For the most part I’d agree with your summation of Virgo.
Well, I don’t think the Virgo sign is that bad (at least now) I used to hate being born under it though. Thanks Elsa for the nice vid.
I always thought I could only be called half a Virgo because I never had any fixation on cleanliness and God’s honest truth I could kill myself first before living off on organizational jobs. My room is a chaotic mess and I’m just soo impatient sometimes. I do have the criticism thing, though, basically my critical streak is more to myself and only projected into others when they literaly invite it. Real life example:
“Sweetheart, what do -you think- of this dress?” “It makes you look fat and hugs all of the wrong places. The color doesn’t match with the… seriously from where the heck did you get those horrible shoes!?”
“Do you have to tell it off like that? You’re so mean!”
“You asked me what I thought right? Next time I’ll give you this option: Lie or Dare with dare being the truth. -_-’”
And other times is even funny (to everyone else, not my father) how rebellious and excentric I can be. I feel out of place with the Virgo sign sometimes and then other’s I’m completely sure I was born with it’s influence.
Hi all,
It’s nice to find people talking about me
.
Seriously, I have some stuff in Virgo – sun 5d, the infamous Uranus-Pluto at 14d & 15d, Ascendant 18d, and Moon 28d.
Then there’s Saturn on my descendant, opposite Uranus, at 14d Pisces.
Mercury rules it all from 18d Leo, with lots of edgy minor aspects (inconjuncts and semisesquiquadrate and such).
So, I generally experience life as heavy; I have a photographic memory of every mistake I’ve ever made; I tend to feel lousy at relating to people; (Though, with Venus in Libra in my first house, I get along with others and, I think, come across as a pleasant person to have around.)
My Uranus-Pluto-Ascendant versus Saturn-Descendant oppostion is square to my midheaven, with Jupiter just out of orb in Gemini in my 10th.
On the other side, I have Neptune in the 3rd in Scorpio, trine the descendant, sextile the ascendant.
So, Jupiter and Neptune form two “outlets”, if you will, for my big opposition. Either escapism (Neptune) or communication (Jupiter – Gemini). The escapism’s a lot easier, naturally.
I haven’t paid alot of attention to astrology for many years now, but just a month or so ago it crossed my mind that there was probably something Saturnish going. I realized I’m about due for Saturn opposed natal Saturn, which means crossing all this stuff. Sure enough, last week’s conjunction with Mars was right on my Sun (sextile to my natal Mars at 5d Scorpio).
Since the start of this year, I’ve experienced failure at a more profound level than I’d ever imagined before. I can only imagine I’ve got some more growth experience coming as Saturn finishes walking all over my everything…
Anyway, enough about me for a first post. I’m insanely busy, so I can’t promise to write back, but I’ll try to find time to visit again soon.
p.s ‘d’ is for degrees. I’m a lazy typist.
Kashmiri (or anyone else); I have been Googling degrees for Sun signs, but can’t seem to find out if the degree a sign is in makes a difference (or if it does, what difference does it make?)
I heart Virgos.. I really, really do. I can’t date ‘em, but they are probably my first choice for friends (I end up with more Cancers, but I don’t choose them, they choose me). Virgos will swoop in and help you fix the mess you’ve made of your life. Virgos will give you the key to unlock the door you didn’t even realize was there. And all they ask for in return is that you (really) listen to their advice next time, and tell them that they’re not actually dying when they have their next hypochondriac attack. I love all their weird neuroses and fussy habits. I can take the criticism, ’cause I usually deserve it. Also, I luv their great sense of humor – Virgos never get credit for how funny they can be.
I brought this up with a friend the other day, and she pointed out that the people stocking the shelves are probably not Virgos and are just doing it for the paycheck. ![]()
I guarantee the mind behind it had some Virgo, though.
@SaDiablo true enough, and thank goodness SOMEONE does it!
I’m way too all over the map to think of that stuff.
Interestingly, my friend is a Gemini, too, Shannon.
Here’s a funny Virgo thing (I’m virgo rising, mars, pluto, uranus): I have YEARS of magazine articles I have ripped out and put into binders all with the same two themes–organization and efficiency tips! I am addicted to them.
And for health matters my mind is like a steel trap. I remember all the studies and conditions and nutrition stuff. I pride myself on the contents of my refrigerator and the state of my health. And I only go to the best hospitals/specialists even for the smallest thing, and am that way with my son, too.
That’s not overdoing it, just being sure the job gets done right, and by experts! God, I love experts, too.
Virgo sun here – related to the dark side posting earlier, but I have to say that I cannot personally identify with the OCD type of Virgo at all!
Kingsley – definitely right with the servicing aspect. Certainly the Madonna/whore concept is close to the truth.
Cannot say that I have great organizational skills, enjoy being in a library but never worked in one. Love fast cars, spontaneity and living for the moment!!
Thanks for defending us Virgos. I drive my boss crazy because of my pickiness but even he will tell you I rarely make a mistake.
And also had to laugh about stocking shelves, every label has to be facing forward so you could see what it is
I’ll admit it I am guilty of mocking Virgo. I’m so sorry. I’ve got Virgo rising and my boyfriend is a sixth house Sag with Virgo moon. Whenever we do anything OCD-esque, we laugh and say “virgo, virgo, virgo.” People are so mean about sweet Virgo. We should declare a Virgo appreciation month.
It’s funny, the Virgo I know are messy, messy, messy as hell. Not an organizational bone in their body.
me too luci! i lived with a double virgo and her room was like a hurricane hit it. she was a vegan who got up at 5 am to work out every single day though and her skin was immaculate for it.
I’m a Virgo Sun, Pluto conjunct, Jupiter and Uranus all in virgo the 11th house. I tend to pile stuff and I’m not neat in an uncluttered way. But, don’t mess with my stuff. I’m very picky about my piles of chaos. Picky is my word – though virgos are often unkindly denigrated with that word.
I’m bothered by dustbunnies in the corners or spots on the windows. I like to clean – a freshly cleaned room feels really good especially if I cleaned it (gives me satisfaction – satisfies the virgo in me perhaps?).
I can file and organize and put things away when I want and usually have a detailed system so I can find it again. In fact, I can find stuff in my piles and chaos too – but it’s my own private system so don’t mess with it….lol
I have been volunteering for a small library. I love being of service to help people find the info they need. I have a Gemini moon and Libra rising. I also help put the books into the catalog which requires lots of detail to input into the computer. I also tend to take more of the cleaning jobs at the library which sometimes I resent because no one appreciates it….lol- very virgo.
the worst part of being a virgo is coping with the worry. Like I’ll post this and then worry about the details I missed or worry I’ll be misunderstood. I am way more self critical or overanalytical toward myself than toward anyone else.
The school secretary where I work is a wise, gentle & very efficient Virgo. She keeps the school office running like clock-work. There was a kidnapping last week (student waiting for the bus -abducted and held for ransom – but he was later found in the forest unharmed.) Rest assured that for every child absent in the morning now – their parents will be called to be sure the kid is home. She won’t miss anyone on that list. Even if there had not been a kidnapping, she wouldn’t miss a name on the list. I agree the world needs Virgos in a big way …
Both my husband and daughter are Virgos and I don’t know what I would do without them. If I need help figuring anything out…how to work something, help around the house, etc…..my daughter ususally responds with, “Mom, it’s really easy, all you have to do is this…never mind, let me do it for you” and my husband will say something like, “leave it alone, I will fix it or just think of it as done” I love it, love it, love it!
My husband (Virgo) and his father(Pisces) run a consulting firm and his father receives alot of the glory while my husband does the behind the scenes work and when I have mentioned in the past for him to step into the limelight too, his response has been “he is the chief, there can only be one chief, I am happy being one of the indians….indians are the ones that get the job done”, spoken like a true Virgo. I love them!!
yay! I couldn’t stand Virgos until it turned out I was one – late 29th degree sun and also venus. Actually I couldn’t be more Virgoan – I love healing, health, nature, animals and I’m organised and efficient and no doubt profoundly irritating
My mother has moon conjunct mars in virgo and I find her uber virgo. She is service personified- worker bee times 5 million. It is quite humbling to see.
My husband has Venus in Virgo, which is directly opposite my venus/mars conjunction in Pisces. Sometimes I feel like we don’t understand each other because of the opposition, but especially lately I really appreciate how sweet, gentle and calm he is. He’s so sweet, and he actually offers to help me do chores. He’s very “no bullshit” and hates to see me wallow in guilt or sadness. He’s good for me though, because he helps me to be strong and try to change the things that bother me, instead of wallowing.
He’s only 27, but he’s very successful for his age, because at every single one of his jobs he’s been the one to do all the thankless little things! Time after time people tell him that everything would go down the tubes without him.
Right now he’s an IT guy/technical writer. He’s worked his way up the civil service ladder(he’s also Moon in Cappy) and I’m so proud of him. I tell him I would just be a glob of Pisces Pudding without him.
The Virgoan ability to focus details is fascinating. When I was a house cleaner, a Virgo client looked at a pile of stuff in the middle of the floor and then instructed me to clean all the dust on the doorjambs and window sills. As a Capricorn, surveying the situation, I was flumoxed, but my Virgo Midheaven did as she was told.
I hope my last comment doesn’t come off pejorative. She could have easily wanted to save the sorting of the pile of stuff for her own capable hands, and my Virgo Midheaven, once engaged in a service, PERFORMS.
Virgo girls are hot!
*claps* Bravo! Hurry for defending Virgo~! I’ll admit that at times I get annoyed with my Virgo AC but other times I’m happy I have such an inclination at remembering tiny little details, a want to “serve” and so forth- it’s a really helpful sign

Am I the only one to openly show my contempt for Virgos? eh. The over-emphasis on “rational thinking” is so tedious with this sign. Did I mention Virgos have the emotional capacity of a pet rock as well? I see it as an element of discomfort when faced with the emotional responses of others. And, the obession with purity is exhausting.. and boring. I do agree with Elsa, however, my Virgo hair stylists and waxers over the years have been great. I also have a few Virgo friends- they’d give you the shirt off their backs and are very generous in their Virgo way. But, a love relationship with a Virgo? Forget it. They drive me crazy.
NH… dude.
Yeah I suppose Virgos are having their birthdays now so I should be nice and supportive.
Side note: This Virgo guy I work with was walking by some of my other co-workers and heard their relatively tame conversation..and said loudly, “my virgin ears can’t hear this” to which I responded with long drawn-out eye roll.
I really try to remember the virtues of my virgo hairstylist in these moments.
n.
Virgo is fabulous..I mean hubba hubba..Sir Sean Connery??!!
Seriously, my most enduring relationships are with people who have Virgo emphasised one way or another.Talented brother in law, architect and artist. These people do things thoroughly. Impressive to a haphazard Piscean like me! Two best friends have Virgo rising, another has her ruler in Virgo, favourite astrologer friends are Virgo, including Jane Ridder Patrick ( Handbook of Medical Astrology author) who runs the Scottish School of Astrology and whose currently ( as if she’s not busy enough = typical Virgo) doing postgrad studies into 17th century astrology.
There was also a very well know Virgoan clairvoyant here, sadly passed on, who used to see clients in her city office, and one day a gentleman client took ill in the waiting room. She dropped everything, took him to hospital, called his family who were at some distance, went shopping for pyjamas and toothbrush etc, took him in everything he needed and kept in touch to make sure he was okay. All at a time when she was on kidney dialysis awaiting a transplant. That’s the essence of Virgo. They serve, without subservience and they ask only that you respect their values, don’t trample their cornfields. Virgin was, in times past, a term used to imply an independent, capable woman who would not be “owned by any man”.
Thank you, Elsa, for the re-post, and to all who shared the first time around. LOTS of energy today, I plan on directing it well.
Happy birthday, Virgos!
How in Hell could the infinitely complex details of astrology ever be assimilated without Virgo energy, not to mention law, medicine, engineering or IT. I laugh at people that “dislike” Virgos…

Why thank you nice lady….
This almost made me cry.
My virgo co-worker’s labor is being unceremoniously stolen in a naked power grab at work. His best option for avoiding this is be a slacker and do nothing. All he wants to do is to contribute, and to have his contribution acknowledged. Just some simple human decency. Instead the pointy-headed management gives us lying and betrayal.
HAHAHAHA never thought about buying my groceries at a railroad siding nice analogy. I learned to appreciate this when my Virgo accountant saved me a bunch of money. WOOT!!!!
I’m of course going to be biased towards Virgo being awesome, because I am one and it’s strong in my chart.
I love the grocery store analogy as well, because I see it every day I work at one of the local grocery stores – customers love me because I’m supremely efficient/fast (who else can bag groceries according to category in split seconds). The manager of stock/inventory is, lo and behold, a fellow Virgo, and those shelves are ORGANIZED. He also knows where every single product is!
I wish I knew the signs of the librarians at the local library. They suck. So many books have gotten lost because of them, and they don’t care about it when I can’t find a book in the location it should be in, they’re so rude. I doubt they are Virgos.
I’ve even discussed ways of improving the way that library functions, the way a Virgo librarian would do, and they look at me like I have two heads. They have even mislabeled books in multiple spots on the book when it is clearly NOT THAT BOOK. ARGH! They need a Virgo up in there.
Elsa, thanks a lot for putting nice Virgo things in limelight. I shud say you must write a book on astrology. – myself Sun in virgo
I adore Virgos but have to admit they are complicated. A lot of people I know say they think they are cold, but I find them warm as toast! They do tend to steer away from the emotional realms..they can’t handle emotional scenes but they will come over and fix your computer, or go to your parent’s house and fix their dishwasher to help them save money…and they can make you laugh like nobodies business! The woman are usually very beautiful in a very sensual earthy way or have just a really warm, earthy vibe, with an underlying nervous tension. I agree with Elsa…we would be a sadly unorganized, less caring world without Virgo.
I’ve never really been very aware of Virgoans, but this thread has been a revelation to me…. and has made me re-think yet again the vexed question of what my Ascendant might be! So much of what’s been written above perfectly describes me:
I can spend hours arranging my underwear and linen drawers, colour-coding my sweaters and shoes, and re-organising my grocery or china cupboard. My books have to be tidy on the shelves, and in order, and when I was in publishing my paperwork and filing cabinets were immaculate. I loved jobs which required great attention to detail (publishing has many of those). I did some photo-cataloguing for a Virgo – we got on fine, two fusspots together.
I hate not being able to find stuff! When I go into the local charity shops for more books, I often spend twenty minutes putting all their books back in order esp on the fiction shelves. I love getting other people’s kitchens in order – how can people LIVE with all those sticky jars, just WIPE the things ffs! – and I’ve quite often taken on housekeeping jobs in spite of my degrees etc – and I’ve taken great pride in running some pretty big houses like clockwork, furniture all waxed, silver all polished, freezers all full. I’m a great ‘garden tidyer’ too
I always loved doing the Earth Mother things – looking after people and animals, but domestically I’m a bit of tyrant (a place for everything, everything in its place – and don’t mess with my stuff! – also ‘there’s a right way and a wrong way of doing things”…)
Hmmm… back to the chart drawing board!
I’ve just clued that my surrogate daughter, who amputated me 18 months ago, is a Virgo – birthday tomorrow. Graphic designer and manic ‘hostess with the mostest’ – house is always FULL.
She’s a classic. The big row we had that weekend was because I was exhausted cooking all week for about 15 people, and she started banging on in a full kitchen in front of all these people about me not putting the damn mugs back in the cupboard in EXACTLY the correct order, when I was busy trying to serve up dinner and clear some space in the dishwasher. I felt like the servant.
Normally I was the only person who could put up with her ‘kitchen fascism’ as I’m pretty like that myself (I won’t let anyone else do my washing up!) but that was just too much… and words were exchanged.
I just threw a couple of charts for her – can’t remember if she’s 45 or 46 tomorrow – but they are both incredibly accurate! If she’s 45 as I believe, she’s a double Virgo with Sag Moon, which fits perfectly… LOL!
The other Virgo woman friend I can think of is a truly ‘goddess beautiful’ American, very much in the Grace Kelly mould. She always looks immaculately turned out, and works in arts sponsorship; emotionally, she was ice cool but quite, er, active… she’s now happily married to a rich but much younger man.
She lives in Switzerland – the perfect place for a Virgo haha
I used to undervalue them a lot too, because I simply didn’t know many. Now I know two quite closely and they’re brilliant people! I would be lost without them, and my life would be much more boring too. I have come to appreciate all that Virgo has to offer!
Love the Virgo, love the Virgo, love the Virgo. Would not be here in one piece were it not for the Virgo. Having been raised by a Sag (mom) and Pisces (dad), I had an interesting upbringing but not what felt like a lot of solid ground, stability, reliability. And for a Cap moon like myself, that would have been serious trouble – were it not for the Virgo. I got through the first 21 years of my pretty turbulent life because of Virgos, period. The most honestly caring people (well, and Cancers for me, too, extremely soothing to my admittedly obdurate and heavily camouflaged emotional side) I know. Could not live without them (and just found out my sister’s Virgo rising, LOL!)
my virgo sun is totally basking in the glow of this thread. thanks elsa and everyone else for giving us our due.
my virgo sun is largely unaspected, and is the only earth sign in my chart. i feel like i had to ‘grow’ into my virgo qualities. but once i did, things certainly got easier!
i’d just like to add that while virgo can certainly be accused of being aloof or naive, every virgo i know has a dark, twisted side that they keep under wraps. i think we actually ENJOY having a double life! would all our dirty misbehaviors be as exciting if it was common knowledge and just taken for granted?
Great topic and one close to me…well all of us really, as they were conceived at the holidays and there are more Virgos than any other sign. I was married to one for 23 years, Brother, Dad, GrandDad, and grandson..all Virgos. They are the archetype of the sacred servant, soil tiller. So earthy and pragmatic, so critical because they are the only ones that can DO IT RIGHT! HA! or so they preach. Mother Theresa was a Virgo. On the other hand they are very funny and have much to teach about tasking..I must admit I have learned much from the earth dwelling, toilers. They are sexy too! Sean Connrey and Rachel Welch. So perfect….so hard to live with. OH! and the diet thing they always drive into the ground….gotta love em. That is why the sixth house rules Virgo…worky, healthy stuff!! on the bright side..but the dark side is well>> DARK.
While it clearly didn’t go over that well with many, thank you for your efforts to clear the good name of Virgo. Even if it doesn’t affect those biased against us, it’s the thought that counts, and it was a good thought.
Hahahaha I’ve certainly got a dark side and so do all the other Virgos I can think of…
If Virgo is my Asc, then I’m so heavily Earth with a Cap Sun and Taurus Moon,(also in Chinese being a Wood Rooster) it’s not surprising I so often act as an unwitting lightening conductor … a lot of destructive energy seems to get channeled through me
YAY VIRGO!!! lol.. great post Elsa! i may only be a virgo moon, but “stocking shelves” is what my job is based on. i supervise all the people who stock the floral departments in one of our local grocery store chains. i supervise them because i am the the most anal of them all!!! i love me some virgo.. both my mom and dad are virgo (you’d think the house would be cleaner…) but i only dog them down for over worrying, they just need to relax sometimes
I used to wonder if I could get a long with virgo or would like a virgo due all that. Guess what I found out, my best friend of over 10+yrs is a virgo. Plus, I’m drawn to that kind of service, and I have a 6th house moon/jupiter, myself. So I’m actually very supported and appreciative of that virgo eneregy. I’ve also become a very big supporter/defender of virgo because of that.
Angie
I love Virgo!!
I am one
5 planets in Virgo!
I think I’m liked?
Ya, I think so…
This is great Elsa. And all the comments are really insightful. I’m sitting back and taking it all in. Oddly healing about my Virgo Dad.
I’ve got a stellium in Virgo and reading all this, I guess I’m more Virgo than Scorp most of the time. Can relate to a lot of these discussions.
Great reminder of the detail and grounding rod of Virgo at their best. The characteristics had gone under-rated in my world until you started pointing things out. I’m begun to spot them and value them: my fifteen year long sponsor and trusted spiritual pal in AL-ANON a Virgo; the computer geek partner of another gal … always working a Virgo. An old no-longer in my circle friend with the discombuberated sorta energy that I told “you drive me nuts” is Virgo with Scorpio …that friendship I miss … I made a mistake with that slip of my Scorpio sting.
The cans and rotation of stock analogy is great. I wonder what astro signs those geeks who invented the UPC code are?
I’ve got mars conj saturn in the 6th house and venus in virgo in the 8th or 9th depending on the house system used. And you’ve made me understand myself better and also feel better about who I am. Thanks Elsa.
Aw.. I’m sad I didn’t see this post sooner. I admire Virgos so much. I have Virgo on my 6th house cusp, but it’s mostly in my 5th house. My Juno is exactly conjunct my South node at 0 degrees Virgo as well.
Love Virgo men, to bad the feeling doesn’t seem mutual!
Virgos in general, I find are fascinating. Since we are both ruled by Merc, I find their version of using their mind is just great and so practical. I definitely appreciate the Virgos in my life!!
Haven’t watched the video yet, but this is SO TRUE!
The guy who ran our facility until last year is a Virgo (Jupiter in Virgo too). In the two years that he held that position, he turned it around and brought it to life. A LOT of improvements took place, and we had a lot of move-ins. He had Leo, too, so that livened things up.
Since he left, the energy of the place is dull. It has felt so disorganized and we seem to be in decline. When he was in charge, he did his best to get us the resources and support we needed. He didn’t hesitate to roll up his sleeves and step in to help if needed. That’s a quality I expect in a leader, and it raises my respect for them. When corporate office pressured him to lay people off, he stalled them as long as he could so we’d have adequate staffing at all times. Yes, he nitpicked and criticized, like Virgos tend to do, but I’d take that if it meant he came back.
My stepdad also has sun and Jupiter in Virgo. The other day I was talking with a tow trucker about what my stepdad taught me to do when shopping for a used car. He agreed that what I learned from him was spot-on. (If you want to buy a RELIABLE car, get advice from a Virgo!)
Wow how great all the Virgo feedback.. So true misunderstood, complicated.. I am Virgo, sun, moon, venus, mars, all in 9th ruled by virgo.. Sag rising.. I never fit what I read, but I am enjoying the ride.. the sag has kept me moving, virgo has let me keep it together even when I have fallend apart..Saturn in Virgo transist… so happy that is over for the rest of my life time.. just sharing.. a Virgo thing..
Thank you Elsa! love your wisdom..
So, let us consider why this thread is prevailing. Virgos have issues, that’s my guess. Yes we all have issues, but the volume of posts here, speaks volumes. ((Jus sayin))
arizona sue… that made me laugh out loud.. what sign are you that has attracted so many virgos in your li fe? jus wondering..
Ima Leo-Cancer(asc)-Gemini(moon) not ONE planet in an earth sign….now that explains it.
TY Elsa, I so enjoy your blogs and in–sites
)
ArizonaSue… that does explain with no earth signs..my sag asc is thinking that is a fun way to go.. up up & away.. hahaha..
Yeah and with Merc conjunct Uranus in the first…it’s all outta the box…if it weren’t for astrology and Virgos, I’da gone mad years ago…

Good clip!
I have been pondering Virgo lately, too. As a Cap, I have a few close Virgo friends, and I always noticed that I got along with them but never realized why until now:
Virgo has the capacity to remain objective, yet still care. This is probably the most under-rated ability, ever.
