People tend to look for horror in their chart. Fine with me but don’t forget to note the little things less you’ll drop the plot.

For example, I have Venus (love and money) sextile Mars in my chart. No biggie, right? Wrong. What that shows or what it provides is satisfaction in relationships. In other words, I am not a hungry dog, I am a fed dog.

I am satisfied with money (Venus) too, even when I don’t have any! If I have a lot of money? Satisfied. If I have a little money? Satisfied. If I have no money at all, guess what? I am still satisfied.

ElsaElsa The Astrology Blog: What It Is And What It Ain’t

July 30th, 2011 @ 5:13 pm by Elsa

Facts about cats.

This is a bar. Children are not allowed in bars! This will always be a bar as long as I work here. It is a place where adults gather and talk about adult things. There are tens of thousands of pages on this blog. Try to find one where we are not doing exactly that.

Outside of this, I make no guarantees. I do not guarantee that you won’t be offended. Matter of fact, I do guarantee you will be offended because guess what? This is life. Life includes MARS and Mars is offensive!

Pluto In Capricorn: Collapse Of Ambition, Death Of The Backbone, Etc.

July 30th, 2011 @ 2:59 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life.

This is another post on parenting. It may be provocative, I don’t know. It may be asinine for all I know but to me it’s a mind-bender so I thought I would throw it out here.

You may or may not know that satori is an expert on narcissism. I am not. But I listen carefully when she talks about this and some years ago she mentioned a game that people play, “How little will you take?”

Composite Charts And Midpoints

July 30th, 2011 @ 1:54 pm by Satori

“I’ll start walking your way, you start walking mine; we’ll meet in the middle ‘neath that old Georgia pine. We gain a lot of ground ’cause we both give a little; ain’t no road too long when we meet in the middle.”
–Diamond Rio

oceanThere are two types of charts of the relationship itself, the composite and the Davison relationship chart. The Davison chart is the chart of an actual point in time and place that is the midpoint or average between the birth places and birth times of the two individuals. That is to say that it is a real chart that exists in real time. The composite is not. The composite is calculated by taking the planets and angles and calculating the midpoints between them.

Long Streak Of Bad Luck

July 29th, 2011 @ 7:47 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life.

I am tumbling pretty badly right now and told my husband I have not had a bad run like this since 1983.

“My daughter…that was long, slow and deeply painful. It was prolonged; deep; pain. It was slow Agony that went on and on but this is different. This comes out of nowhere and I haven’t had a run like this since 1983. I just hit a skid back the and one thing after another after another kept happening, all of it jarring and cascading and there was nothing I could do until I landed. It went on like that for six months and then I landed at the Plaza Hotel and met, Ben. Yeah, I’d lost everything by then and when I landed at the Plaza, Ben was there. We met and that was when I started to be able to feel the ground under me again. I just ended the streak.”

The Oldest Person You Have Ever Known Was…

July 29th, 2011 @ 5:18 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life.

My husband is doing some writing and his great grandfather came up in his story.  My husband was fortunate that he got to spend time with his great grandfather who was born in 1882.  He cherished the time he got to spend with him and in fact would be up overnight with excitement when he was going to see him because he loved his stories.

This got me thinking about my grandfather, Henry who was born in 1900. I was even more fortunate than my husband in that I got to see my grandfather, daily for at least a period of at least 10 years.

This got me wondering if he was the oldest person I ever knew but he was not.  Most of Henry’s (large) family was dead but he had an older sister who lived in town. We’d go see her when she’d call, Henry to fix something around her house. She was born in 1892.

Mars And The Ascendant

July 29th, 2011 @ 3:38 pm by Satori

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
–Viktor E. Frankl, Scorpio Mars

MarsNo matter what else I’m working on I like to go back periodically and readdress my perspective on the basics. For instance I find it helpful to look at the differences between the Moon and Venus, needs versus wants and the gray areas in between. Venus is the aesthetic and what you want. For me the next thought is “how do you GET what you want?” That’s Mars. So I tend to link the two, Venus then Mars. But it’s also how you get what you need, Moon then Mars.

Where You Wind Up In Life

July 29th, 2011 @ 8:44 am by Elsa

Jupiter..!

Last night I was zoned out watching a movie, even though the film was compelling. I was thinking about the recent conversations on this blog and elsewhere. I realized in a flash, that I have wound up exactly where I belong in this life.  I can make sense of all of it.
