The Eclipse And A Mother’s Intuition
“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.”
–C.G. Jung
Last night may not have been the exact full moon, but it was the “night of” as far as I’m concerned. My son is 21 in three weeks and decided a few months ago he was done “going out” till he’s legal. He will also be leaving for university in a few months and blowing this little pop stand. The attitude is one of a short-timer. But last night he told me he was going to a big party.
I told him, “PLEASE be careful; it’s a Full Moon, a big one, an ECLIPSE even.” He asked me, “What do you mean?” I told him it meant no drinking, and being really careful driving. He asked if I had seen something in his chart and I told him no but pulled it up. The Sun Mercury was right on his 8th house vertex and there was a cardinal grand cross with his 8th house natal Sun Mercury. I said, “I wouldn’t go.” But I didn’t tell him what to do. I worried instead; that’s always fun.
The girls he was supposed to pick up and drive to the party weren’t answering their phone when he drove to meet them at the store. He waited ten minutes (this kid has a 6th house Aries Mars and that is a LONG TIME for him to wait on somebody) and drove back home. When he got here they called him. They’d been held for shoplifting and the police had been called. And, get this, they wanted him to drive back and take them to the party.
He got off the phone and I could tell he was thinking it over. Now this may seem like a tempest in a teapot to you but you know how Sedona is supposedly one of those towns in a high positive energy spot? Well we live somewhere that is like the opposite of that, in fact, I tell people we live on the Hellmouth. In addition, both my son and I are trouble magnets, much Pluto. So he said to me, “eclipse, huh?” and then called the girl back and said something along the lines of, “oh HELL no!” I was very relieved.
I hadn’t wanted to lay this on him but I had a VERY bad feeling. Sometimes, don’t you wonder if whatever thing went wrong was just a drop in the bucket and somehow you narrowly missed the sky falling? I do, but there’s no way to prove it. It makes me seem like a pessimist, but I’m really an optimist, or at least an optimistic pessimist. I tend to think things could have been way worse. That glass could have been way emptier! The more crappy things that happen to me the more lucky I feel, because of all the even worse things that didn’t! I am one lucky crap-magnet.
Do you ever change your plans or even make plans around the transits? Do you ever get a “feeling” and follow it?

Yikes! Way to use your spidey senses!
I do follow my feelings. I suck at trying to use astrology to help me accomplish something other than just working on myself.
I absolutely get this. Many years ago a friend took me along to a Spiritual Reader who said nothing about Astrology to me; but I do recall something he said …
“If you’re ever planning on going somewhere and you get that feeling, or something in your head tells you not to go, don’t go.”
yep, Bluestar, I honor that one too! I was thinking someone might wonder why I wasn’t more forceful about it with my son. however, he has a cardinal grand cross in his chart, including his Aries Mars and I’ve learned not to tell him what to do! it’s a fine line to walk sometimes.
I’m starting to. The synchronicity and timing of the past three years has made a believer out of me.
I go with my gut most of the time, but on the off-chance I go against it, I usually regret it.
Glad your intuition was sparking, Satori!
glad it turned out OK; whew!
i knew something was coming the day before my husband had his accident. so glad it wasn’t worse. so glad he cared enough about my concerns to wear the helmet (he doesn’t like them, but i know better than to tell him what to do…)
(we both have a lot of cardinal…)
i have intuitions about things like this…but i’m also naturally high strung so a ‘sign’ isn’t always a sign for me. sometimes it is paranoia!
phew.
I love that CG Jung quote, Satori, think I’ll have to add it my fridge
). Of course I get a feeling, all the time. Do I follow it? Most times,
Angie
. Hm, my full moon comment got eaten. What it said was that when I tell my son not to do something, he usually won’t either. I lucked out and got a good one like you did.
The best part is knowing that I spent almost 20 years of my life looking out for that kid utterly and defending his interests. He trusts me, like yours trusts you. I used to worry that I was the shittiest mom on the planet but my kid really values my opinion and acts on it, and as far as I can tell I have never steered him wrong. Makes me think maybe I did something right finally.
Saturn in Libra doesn’t have to suck all the time.
You raised him right.
I always try to follow my feelings. They rarely steer me wrong.
Satori, I am so relieved for you and your kid. Relieved that he listened to you. If those girls hadn’t been held by the police he may have just ploughed on with his night out, who knows what else might have happened. A lucky escape!
Yes, I do get vibes ALOT but with many planets in Pisces including the moon and an over active imagination, I’m overwhelmed with psychic whisperings. I have a hard time discerning between intuition, paranoia and sheer fantasy.
Just to confirm the fantasy/imagination statement I have Neptune conj Midheaven, sextile Ascendent, trine Moon…just to name a few, lol.
I do try to follow my feelings. And since all the car accidents I’ve had over the last couple of years, I ALWAYS check the transits now, especially where Mars and Mercury are concerned.
I’m not skilled enough to avoid transits yet. But as for your other question, yeah, I do
I’m glad it ended up well Satori. I never EVER go past my gut. It’s never steered me wrong =)
That’s an amazing story Satori – glad he decided to listen to you!
Before I followed my transits etc I had an incident where I was mugged on the way to my house after work from an event I was covering.
I was about to go down the usual alley when a voice in my head said, clear as a bell, ‘Don’t’.
I told myself I was being stupid, carried on and called my dad on the phone. I was nearly out of the shortcut when two teenagers walked up to me, one punched me in the face, and ripped my bag off me.
Was a lesson in listening to intuition. I just checked my transits for that day and I had pluto conjunct my neptune, north node conjunct my sun and transiting jupiter conjunct natal saturn in the 8th.
Whew! That was a close one and I’m so glad to hear he decided on Hell No!
I follow my gut all the time… and although, as you said, it’s hard to prove the many times I’ve escaped harm of some sort, I KNOW that I have. My husband also respects it- When I get ‘that feeling’ all I have to do is tell him it’s time to go or stay or whatever my gut is telling me, and it’s no questions asked- he goes with it.
Due to circumstance & situation until a few years ago I never even could track the transits I had to go on feelings alone. I would voice my
Great story about you and your son thanks for sharing.
Do you ever change your plans or even make plans around the transits? I would have to say yes I do if at all possible. Do you ever get a “feeling” and follow it? Yes I often listen to the voices in my head and do as they tell me.
Instinctual warnings which were not taken seriously at the time, but I still voiced them and they were ignored. Usually with unfortunate results and I am not an I told you so person.
Now that I can track them I incorporate them into my instinctual information so that when I tell my now adult children that I have a feeling that you should be very careful or you are going to do well they listen much better course they are all over 25 years of age now. For the most part.
awesome post and thanks for sharing satori.. for those who believe in reincarnation and its themes of karma (Saturn) and points of the nodes, south being past life energy/themes and loving the nature of the language of the stars..i almost instantly and intuitively gravitated to the meaning of this family dynamic being karmic in nature.. it resonated to me that well somewhere you and your son had a similar instant or need for ‘approval’ and trust in this regard.. so being that ..most all of us here who understand astrology were in fact astrologers in our past lives at some point..we gravitated back to study and dig into the language ‘further’ ..a great time i may add in the cosmic chain as we can do it more freely open and not be so persecuted..say way back in the distant history. so your son may have been someone you cared for in your soul group distantly and perhaps the last time around didn’t quite heed your warning or spidey sense..only this time ..north node at galactic center and Sag/Gemini eclipse ..took your higher message and warning seriously and followed suite .. instead of say going the 8th house mystery way or dual road as Gemini may offer..he went higher ‘road’ or choice and followed your Sagitarian inspired wisdom..the language is truly remarkable to me and when you understand past life dynamic (Venus in pisces here lol) you began to see how must and all new interactions work going forward and the grandness of it all..thanks for showing and sharing with me on this ‘theme’ and correlations of ‘as above, so below”
