There have been requests for a profile of Courtney Love for some time now so let us take a look at the chart of this very controversial woman! Ms. Love is a double Cancer with Sun and Moon in the sign. I find that with Cancer people we have a focus on childhood and parenthood which is the case with Courtney. Courtney is outspoken and writes songs and we can expect that from a person with Mars and Venus in Gemini. Courtney’s rising is Libra putting an emphasis on relationships which has shown in Courtney’s commentary and song lyrics throughout her career.

With a Leo MC and Mercury in Leo Courtney has thrown her share of drama out there and has shown a talent for drawing attention to her herself, her music and her acting. She has made very dramatic statements in the press and during live interviews often not censoring herself and her Gemini leaning toward communicating in an open way. Jupiter is in Taurus for Courtney causing her to reach out for security in many ways and this is supported and affects her Uranus and Pluto in Virgo. Saturn is in Pisces in Courtney’s chart giving her a more realistic view than some while also putting a bit of pressure on her when it comes to her Cancer Moon and Sun and their serious interest in childhood and being a parent herself. When Courtney was 11 or 12 her mother moved to New Zealand with Courtney’s half sisters from her mother’s second marriage, leaving Courtney behind with a family friend in Oregon. Courtney would move to her ex-step father’s home and live with him in Oregon and begin her life early when it came to her coming out and expressing herself.

When Courtney was sixteen she gained legal separation from her family making her a legal adult and traveled to England, Ireland and Japan. Courtney was clearly a Cancer looking for a home while her Saturn was probably looking for security. At that age one can be taken advantage of if they don’t have family and close family friends to fall back on. Courtney was raised in, again, a commune and probably had an open mind regarding sexuality, and this might have led to her becoming an exotic dancer when she was underage. Courtney danced in Portland and became a part of the “Punk” scene at that time.

Courtney has been called “the most controversial woman in the history of Rock,” which could be debated, of course, but shows her talent in the field and her commitment to being as true to herself as possible in living her life and in her lyrics. Courtney’s album with “Hole,” when she was the “front man,” was widely acclaimed by the critics, and “Pretty on the Inside” did much to put Courtney on the map as a singer and songwriter. Her second album was released right before her husband Kurt Cobain committed suicide and that helped to make it sell very well. The album, “Live Through This,” gained much attention due to its release date.

Courtney would have struggles with drugs throughout her life. While recording and attempting to record and build relationships with fellow musicians, she would have problems due to her drug abuse. Courtney is also a talented actress and when she was able to keep herself straight she did very well in the roles she accepted. The critics consider her best role being the character she played in “The People vs Larry Flynt.” It’s interesting to look at this role because it certainly is one for a Cancer woman in that she is supportive of a very controversial man, not unknown when it comes to Cancer women. With her Neptune in Scorpio and Saturn in Pisces Courtney is a strong Cancer with a deep understanding of sexuality and emotion. She would have no problem getting into the head of a character with Gemini helping her express that interpretation when she acts. Courtney certainly has her talents but her choices and difficulty with drugs have given her a hard time in the industry as an entertainer that can be insured for films and the life.

Courtney’s style has recently changed in the fact that she has appeared in clothes that are age appropriate and that properly fit. If it is due to a stylist or if she is making her own choices she is hitting it out of the park lately. Earlier we could count on Courtney to work in baby-doll dresses and very skimpy outfits that reflected the punk scene but set her apart from serious actors and the like. She, being Cancer, would have a love of those baby-doll looks and it’s no surprise that she chose that sort of costume for her onstage singing career. With her showing of an open sexuality we expect the skimpy clothing she was known for, and she would have no problem expressing herself through her clothes as those with Gemini prominent in their charts often show their personalities through their wardrobe.

Courtney’s personal life has been largely shadowed by her relationship, marriage and child with Kurt Cobain, and with Libra rising this is also something we could expect. With strong Gemini in her chart, Courtney came out speaking right after her husband’s death and continues to mention her late husband in interviews. We can assume that her relationship to her husband was very important to Courtney in many ways and that her struggle to raise her child has been equally as intense. Courtney has had a problem with drugs most her life and that has affected her marriage to Kurt Cobain and her ability to raise her daughter by him. Courtney was in rehab when Kurt Cobain committed suicide and Courtney has faced blame in his death from many of his fans. She spiraled after Kurt’s death and has had a hard time coming back from what has to be a very, very difficult life experience.

When one has Neptune in Scorpio being affected by planets in Cancer and Pisces and a strong 11th house that has played out by being involved with fringe groups, it can sometimes lead to drug abuse and Courtney’s drug of choice has been prescription painkillers. Courtney has been through rehab more than once and has emerged recently with a different and very appropriate look and we can hope for the best from her. Courtney still has talent both in songwriting and acting so we hope that she can use this talent and stay well and strong in her life both personally and professionally.
