It’s always irked me, Mercury is routinely undervalued in astrology. I don’t care how sexy you are and how big your breasts may be, if you misspell words in your online personal ad, no one is going to choose you.
That paragraph right there, illustrates this energy. There is pressure to get your words right, particularly when it comes to the other.
You can get fired for what you say under this aspect. You can get rejected but you can also get tremendous support so long as what you say is fair and can be backed up with substance.
With Mercury in Capricorn squaring Saturn in Libra, expect people to communicate their boundaries. Some will find this harsh as the words hit them like a punch but it’s got to be done.
In other cases, commitments are renewed or reiterated or may be formalized. Some will be pressured to have conversations they’ve been afraid to conduct. If someone does tell you something harsh, consider the courage it took on their end.
Choose words carefully and think in terms of balance but do broach these difficult subjects when they present and you should have good results.

I need to tell some family members that bookkeeping work is worth at least $12/hr and sub-minimum wage for the amount of hours I will likely put in to do bookkeeping is unacceptable. I also need to tell the accountant that waiting for five freaking days to answer basic questions is unacceptable since I’m doing things according to her specifications and really it’s not too much to ask that she clarify or confirm my understanding of them.
Yeah, this one is hitting me at work, as a writing project that I’ve proposed has become a “too many cooks” situation, and I’m having to deal with everyone’s specs except MY OWN.
Elsa, what you said about Mercury being “undervalued” is really ringing with me right now. I had always considered my Mercury to be “on autopilot,” but when Saturn conjuncted my Mercury this year, I got hit with a ton of bricks. This has been one of the most direct and memorable transits I have experienced. I will not take Mercury for granted anymore!
I’ve got Merc all over the place – chart ruler (sq Mars)in the 1st and Gem MC. These days I observe literacy has less respect but I also notice it can cost people cuz when you can’t articulate – whether in speech or writing – you don’t get understood, and that’s unhelpful and even dangerous.
I’ve been collecting ‘funnies’ I see online and here’s one to brighten the day: ‘a vile of poison.’ Enjoy!
This concerns me in a HUGE way. The way things are at work right now I can only assume this will hit there too. I am in a position right now where if I don’t stand up for myself, then I am going to get overworked and underpaid fast. UGH.
Elsa, Oh boy has this been hard work for me with Merc in my 10th (opposite my natal 4th Merc) square my Saturn 7th. I’ve been having to set boundaries left and right. Client communication has irritated me as well. This is going to be a long transit around here.
I’m usually left alone, trusted, and the like so this energy really confronts me. Feeling hypersensitive and judged even. So done.
I live with this aspect natally so it’s business as usual for me. I’m always afraid to tell people things, it’s bloody ridiculous.
Absolutely! I am having a talk with a friend on Saturday regarding boundries. I am having to take the place of the boundry maker. I know he is sensitive (Cancer)so I will have to chose my words carefully.

I feel for you! When I wrote my comment above, I thought about ALL the people ‘out there’ who have this aspect natally! I would dread. It must have made you strong? Able to tolerate more from others? Just guessing. Poor thing!
Thanks Xenia. Chiron is in the mix, too. I’ve been working hard at saying how I feel. It’s hit in miss…all part of the process, right? I have tolerance, and I’m forgiving, maybe this ties to that? Thanks for your ‘guess’ because it helps me look at it deeper.

Mercury is on the DC for me in Aquarius and I have learnt how deadly Mercury can be. He’s little and quick, but so often a big part of events and traumas that people go through. One looks and thinks, how can this little thing be involved in such a big crisis e.g. nervous breakdown / miscarriage / mugging? I never underestimate winged feet now.
Ouuu this is strange! I was TRYING to have a conversation with my partner about how I’m feeling on a certain matter & I got GAGGED!!! (ie- I don’t think this is a good time to talk about this). Que?! Why? Didn’t get a sufficient answer to that either.

I sent a long email to the man who is all but out of my life, laying down certain ideas, caveats, parameters – and just plain feelings on our life and times, and I got back:
“I can’t reply because I can’t type”
I pointed out that phones do exist
I wrote something I have REALLY needed to tell someone. I was thinking hard about this square energy before I did–it gave me the push I needed.
