Bizarre Projection And The Internet Geniuses Out There

December 10th, 2010 @ 8:23 am by Elsa

Astrology in real life

8th houseI found this looking for something else. I’d forgotten all about it but think it’s interesting… from 2009.

Someone on the death notice piece characterized me as a “celebrity” which… well if people know you and know of your life, if you are a point of discussion for people, then I guess there is some truth to that but the things people know about are… bizarre.

For example once I came across a long diatribe / study of my (jacked up) psychology written by an Internet Genius.  They had me pegged with a host of diagnoses all based on my daughter’s name.  Yep, they’d judged my daughter’s name to be, “ugly” and since I gave it to her this indicated all kinds of things,  like my fierce, sick jealousy of her for example.

Apparently it did not occur to this person that her father may have named her.  It also did not occur to them the name I use for daughter is not her real name but a screen name! If they couldn’t figure that out, figuring out she picked the name herself would have to be next to impossible.

The fact is my daughter’s screen name, Mostacciolia  was derived (by her) from her favorite pasta, mostaccioli.  How this makes me a bad mother, I don’t know but there are people out there who do know.

This is what happens when you have a packed 8th house.  It is also part of the reason you have so much insight into other people. It’s because whatever they want to be rid of they dump on you.

I strongly suspect the gal who wrote all about of my dark feelings hates her daughter but in whatever case this is none of my business is it?

Elsa, even if it were her birth name, I can see that the name Mosta/ Mostacciolia might be seen as a culturally derived name as well.

To me this story warns, “best get your foundation right before you build your house of cards, dumb ass.”

See, I think that is where your Libra tendencies are helpful. Both sides are often sought out first before judgement passed.

Perhaps this person was Scorpionic as well? Seeing things in black and white with no shades of gray possible.

It took some Gemini relationships in my life to help me notice the grays in life.

Great story – but I’m sure the incident was not pleasant to process.

Dreams, I have no idea who or what you are talking about. This may be my failing but I am telling you, I don’t relate at all. I think the person who wrote that is an idiot – period. There are no critical thinking skills and then they publish what they think is a showcase of their critical thinking skills.

It was not unpleasant to process, I was laughing my ass off at the gal.

it’s been my experience quite consistently that people going to great lengths to tell me who i am always end up conveying a LOT more info on who they are than anything else…

Also, my daughter’s name is BEAUTIFUL so even more ridiculous.

What I was trying to say – is that if you, Elsa, were to come across a name that was out of the ordinary to you, that you would use your Libra tendencies towards balance to think about all/some of the possible ways a name could be given to someone.

Some of us are just stupid and jump to all kinds of black/white reasons why a thing is there/what it’s possible meanings are and then try to use those perceived critical thinking skills to present our case.

You are most likely correct in your assumptions that this person hated their own daughter.

As humans we tend to label things all the time, for myself – it seems to be a flaw. When I do, it usually butt-bites me. 9 out of 10 times I’ll get it wrong.

I think Mosta is a beautiful name as well. And your descriptions of your lovely daughter that I’ve read are just that – full of love and respect for her.

People dont’ think. I wonder if they think your son’s name is actually Vidroid. *eyeroll*

Some folks like to project; they think they know and there’s nothing that will sway them from that – everything you say in defense makes you look worse in their perception.

When it’s me, I keep my mouth shut and just let them look dumb. Confirm nor deny – it takes two to argue.

Yes they do. I have been asked several times why I gave him that name. :-)

Actually my daughter is a Gemini and came up with all sorts of names. For example, meet “Silba” and “Gray”…

well they are both creative as hell and if you don’t keep up with them, they will leave you in the dust as has happened to me many times.

Think you can figure it out until you’re blue. Fact is you are dealing with an anomaly that will never go in any hole or category you (or I) can conceive of.

That this fact beats the shit out of the know-it-all is a source of amusement for the people who can accept the fact.

I love the not-pigeon-holeable in people. It keeps me interested and happy to be around them – keeps us alive trying to keep up.

You can tell they are well loved children as well – it oozes out of them. Elsa, one of the things I appreciated about your blog posts about your kiddos is your love & RESPECT of them as WHOLE beings – the adult thoughts, the adventurer, the vulnerable, the wise, the silly, etc. It was something my older sister did with her children and something I attempted to emulate with my own children when they came along. These tiny ones are PEOPLE when they arrived. Perhaps a little spongey, needing a map & compass some times, but deserving of adult consideration, conversation & acceptance.

Very bizarre! I don’t understand pre-meditated stuff like that. What kinda person takes the time to do that?

I’m not hooked up enough to know if you are a celebrity or infamous in the astrology world. I suspect you will be though, and soon, if it all keeps growing and growing.

Well I sure as hell aren’t famous in my mind. I live in a small house in the suburbs, I try to take care of my family, myself and my clients and that is about it.

I write for release and because the universe supports it. If ever the universe does not support, I will not write obviously.

I am very much into co-operating (even if the other is God, real or imagined). Er… I have Libra.

But how people see me and how they tag me? That is their affair.

I do see the potencial for fame.As mentioned by moonpluto.I wouldn’t brand you with the word “celebrity”You’re far to real and down to earth.I just can’t see you in that light.I don’t think you have the fakeability factor.Yeah I made up or misspelled that word!I was really interested in the origin of the name “Silba”Curious enough that I looked it up on wikipedia several days ago.I like the Italian heritage of it.That woman who was talking smack is ignorant and rude.

Well, it is hilarious when someone writes a thesis on their imagination.

I can relate. Saturn in 1st, Neptune in 7th. I used to get annoyed by my hologram; now I laugh at it. People’s, especially stupid people’s, perceptions of me are so far off that it’s laughable.

Relating to your other blog post, this is another reason I stay away from social media. Deleted MySpace long ago, never got a Twitter, keep Facebook updates to the barest minimum. I don’t want the hologram out there.

People(men)seem to get a false impression of me.They think I’m highly driven by sex.It really isn’t true.So disapointing for them, when they discover I’m on a quest for THE TRUTH.It’s all about research, discovering and uncovering secrets and mysteries.Scorpio asc.and nptune in Scorpio in the 1st.Sorry this is not about internet misinterpretation.I use my Facebook to keep in contact with my children mainly.I’ve yet to post a provacative photo in hopes of attracting male admiration.

“Well, it is hilarious when someone writes a thesis on their imagination.”
@Elsa- This seems to be rampant in our media these days. Any insight as to the astrology behind it? Neptune in Aqua?

Buzz-words, which are so popular with politicians and the media are taken as truth and facts are no longer checked before the final print is out… What’s driving the perpetuation of falsehoods?

I just, just, just finished writing a post about this, Read ‘Em. Not sure if I will publish until tomorrow but yes, as my husband likes to say, people make things up in their ass, lol.

@Elsa- Nice, I’m looking forward to reading it. I’ve been really curious as to how this phenomenon started. The attitude behind it seems to be, “If I say it enough times, people will hear it as truth.” I can’t find it in myself to tolerate such half-truths and out-right lies being perpetuated as facts… It makes me twitch.

There is another thing to notice here. Just think of the character of someone who takes a woman on the internet with a sick child and writes something like this about them. Also commo and may have become “normal” at this stage but completely sick just the same.

I think people who attack when someone is down are projecting their deepest, darkest fears onto the person they are kicking. As you say on occasion: It says more about them than it does the person who they are kicking. It must take some thick skin to deal with what you’ve been through… Or the ability to let it roll off your back, like a duck in water… I give you highest kudos, Elsa, as I don’t know if I have either… At any rate, I feel I (almost) understand that your hologram and your personal life are two separate, yet loosely intertwined realities that make up your life. I respect each in its own right and feel there is a certain privilege in having access to some of your experiences and thoughts. Thank you for sharing what you share with us. The rest belongs to you and your family and we have no right to demand you give up your secrets. I think you do a job that not many would be able to handle – and for ten years!
(((hugs to you, Elsa!)))

Elsa, so you are saying that people with packed 8th houses are more prone to people projecting onto them?

@Mojo No, the 8th house house is not associated with projection. It is associated with psychology in general.

lol–elsa please don’t hate me but mercury is now rx and i see a typo in that post “if you ARE a point of discussion for people”

the thing is…i do eat points of discussion for people, with my Saturn/8th square Taurus Mercury;)

(my way of saying…i can be pedantic).

The “quote of the day” on my start page today is:

We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are.
– Anais Nin

And while I may be deluding myself, I have long thought this intuitively and conciously work to account for it/correct for it in my dealings with others.

i.e. that I’m bringing my own filters and projections into my interpretation of ‘what is’ and that others are doing the same and that in all likelihood ‘the truth’ of a given matter may be irreconcilable in any meaningful way.

This approach doesn’t interfere with my vociferous assertion that, “You are entitled to your own opinion. You are not entitled to your own facts”.

Few things send me up a wall and around the bend faster than hyperbole and demagoguery. If it’s destined to go that route, I guess I do like it to be excruciatingly over-the-top, bigger than life so as become quickly laughable.

If Nin was right in her quote, the “Internet Genius” (heh) is living her own brand of twisted hell. Not that a good ass-kicking wouldn’t be in order…miserable, nasty people just generally suck.
