Astrology And Fashion: Celebs And Their Style- Kathy Bates by Annalisa
Astrology and Style
Kathy Bates is a very talented actor with Sun, Venus and Mercury in Cancer. An artist in her own right, she seems to understand the undercurrents in her character roles and helping her do this is her Moon in watery Pisces complimenting her Cancer stellium. Kathy has knocked out a variety of roles while keeping her nose to the ground turning out excellent performances with a work ethic that comes from Virgo rising and Mars in Virgo. With such an emphasis on Virgo in the chart of a Cancer Sun and stellium, Kathy is not only a hard-worker but a thinking actor who cares about the nuances of the characters she plays, bringing a depth to each role that is admirable.
Cancer is also a sign of leadership and Kathy is a director with some impressive credits to her name. Privacy is often important to Cancer Sun as well as to those with Virgo strongly in their charts and Kathy is no exception to this trait. Kathy has Saturn and Pluto in Leo giving her a discipline when working in the dramatic arts and again, a deep understanding of what it means to bring quality drama to a role. Staying a bit under the radar but being memorable in each part she plays, Kathy is worth noting when we are profiling actors of our time. With Midheaven and Uranus in Gemini, Kathy takes a variety of scripts and portrays a variety of characters because her interests would be varied. Gemini Midheaven is interested in people and this is a great trait of a character actor while making Kathy a “thinking” actor as well. Jupiter for Kathy is in Sagittarius where it is strongest empowering her Leo placements and balancing her Gemini Midheaven and Uranus. With both Sagittarius and Gemini working in her chart she would have a large interest in others and how they live as well as what makes them tick. Rounding out her chart, Kathy has Neptune in Libra giving a dreamlike quality to her relationship interpretation.
Kathy started making her mark in both television and movies by choosing her work by the role instead of the size or budget of the project. She put effort in her work no matter if it was the size of her part in “Misery” which won her the Academy Award or is it was something smaller like a role in a television series where she has been nominated for an Emmy eight times. Kathy has done memorable roles in films like “Fried Green Tomatoes,” “Delores Claiborne,” and “Titanic,” where she played Molly Brown. She has done television working equally as hard in roles in “The Late Shift,” “Annie,” “Warm Springs,” Six Feet Under” and “3rd Rock From the Sun.” Kathy began directing which is understandable when we consider her ability to understand character development and motivation while also having a knack that a Cancer person has for knowing what effect environment can have on a character. Kathy directed episodes of “Homicide: Life On the Streets,” “Six Feet Under,” NYPD Blue,” and “Oz.” Kathy both acted in and directed “Have Mercy.” A recent role for Kathy was in the movie “Revolutionary Road” with actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet whom she worked with in “Titanic.” Kathy has shown the hard work and sensitivity to detail that a Virgo Rising and Mars will bring as well as the emotional understanding of Cancer Sun trine a Pisces Moon. Versatile Kathy, with Gemini placements as well as Sagittarius Jupiter has shown us sides of herself and depictions of characters with skill and the understanding of drama that her Leo planets would have. Often an unsung actor given her preference for privacy that is often seen in a Cancer Sun and which would be pronounced in a person with a stellium in Cancer, Kathy has always brought quality work to the small or large screen as well as a touch of stage work.
Kathy has been public with her battle with ovarian cancer, a battle she won after being diagnosed in 2003. True to her Cancer Sun, Kathy did not become public about her cancer until six years later in 2009. A Cancer will often retreat when working on something important or when facing a trying time and Kathy must have wanted to focus her energy on the fight with cancer rather than deal with the press at such a time. Kathy’s work ethic and ability to keep her private life out of the equation is a lesson that many in her field could learn from!
Kathy is only 5’3″ but has a larger than life screen presence which we can put off to her abilities to do her work and her intense understanding of each role. Although Kathy is not model thin and has a regular woman’s body she has always shown herself to be well-dressed and has worn styles that taller women wear with great ease. Kathy is a colorful dresser with a Cancer’s eye for what looks “pretty” and what is feminine. As a Cancer woman will, Kathy brings attention to her upper body in off the shoulder gowns for the red carpet or even strapless gowns which can be hard for a woman without a very thin body and height to pull off.
Cathy shows us the good taste of a Cancer with the love of color a Gemini has and a bit of Leo drama thrown in the mix when she appears at events. Whether she is in a monotone outfit to add to her height or a gown to the floor which also adds height, Kathy wears interesting colors and looks pulled together always with a Cancer woman’s nod to what is ladylike. Kathy never goes over the top with character dressing and keeps her hair in a natural shade of brown and has even appeared with gray hair at times. Having small features, Kathy keeps her hair off her face whether it is cut short or shoulder length but brushed back off her forehead. When one has a rounder face like Kathy they often try to pull the hair in to the face but with Kathy’s expressive eyes that are small she looks much better with hair off her face and showing a kind smile which she does most of the time.
Instead of taking herself very seriously, Kathy has always had a personality in public that is kind and is very Cancer in its presentation. She seems to welcome fans and draw people to her in her warmth and openness all the while keeping her personal life out of the press. “Colorful” is a great way to describe Kathy’s style both outwardly and in personality but still she manages to stay professional most of the time and let her work speak for her which is what we would expect from a Virgo rising and Mars.

I have always liked and admired her talent and intelligence. Misery and Fried Green Tomatoes. I like her humour too!
I love Kathy Bates in Fried Green Tomatoes. Is she seriously only 5’3″ tall? You wouldn’t believe it in her ‘Tawanda’ scenes (ramming the sports car in the carpark and smashing down the wall to create space for Mrs Threadgood).
Thanks for sharing her chart information. I always knew she wasn’t a virgo but picked virgo traits in her. Never would have picker her for Cancer though.
Now i love her… we have the same Sun, Saturn & Rising signs.
But thank god i dont have a Pisces Moon.
Cancer makes sense. I find that Cancers are usually “rounded” people, either with moon faces, round physiques or just give off a “round” energy (if that makes sense lol). Also, I read somewhere that when the director of Misery told her she’d gotten the part, her first big one, she didn’t espouse thank-yous or flattery she just said, “Can I call my mother?”
Annalisa,
I miss your posts!! Hope all is fine….and you’re just taking a breather…
Lindsey, thank you so much for checking on me! I may not have mentioned it but I am a chronic pain patient and have injured myself a bit. I have been healing and have planned to write again as soon as I can.
I appreciate you caring and that you enjoy the posts!

Hello Annalisa,
I watched a TV program the other night: they said she had a lot of esthetic chirurgy and was proud of it.
Cheers
